FINNALLY!!! YOU THE MAN! thank you. after about ten videos finally my same problem and set up. I can't wait to redo it tomorrow morning. the way I did my connection obviously was wrong (eliminating one blue wire) it worked temporarily but the customer called me to inform me the lights went out after they turn them off and back on. I found out what caused it but couldnt find the proper wire connection (blue extra wire) till now. THANK YOU SO MUCH

I was in the same boat as many others here and was about to purchase a whole new fixture thinking mine was just obsolete. Glad I searched for this first as your video was spot on! Thanks!!

You're installing it the hard way. I have installed these ballast in a lot of groceries. I just ground the other blue with a electric twist cap. Connect the black to black, white to white, the other blue to blue and red to red. It works every time. I have changed over fifty of them.

That only works if they are wired a certain way, there are lots of different schemes out there for wiring flourescents.

I was changing out my kitchen light ballast and I got confused with the wiring. I have a T12 2 lamp rapid start White Puff ceiling light and it started to have a problem where it would need a few times to be turned on, on both light switches from opposite rooms so anyways, I knew the ballast was bad so I got a new one from Home Depot and I was struggling because I tried to follow the wiring directions on the ballast itself, so then I came to the conclusions that I have to wire it up again how it was wired on the old ballast with red to red and blue to blue and the yellow wires with the jumpers and what do you know? IT WORKED!!!

I read many forums and watched a few youtube videos and this is the best explanation and once I watched this it was easy. This change is not intuitive, the diagrams `on the new ballast are not very helpful but Zack finally made me get it. Thanks Zack!

I couldn't figure out what I needed to do from the enclosed wiring diagram without instructions. Wish I'd found it sooner, thanks.

im curious because when removing the wires...it had a blue wire to one bulb and red to the other only on one side...and now the new one is adding a red to the other side? and you have to split it yourself?

Do you by chance have the video of when you installed the blue wires into the light fixture itself? I’m just unsure of how that will work? Any insight on how you did that? Should I remove the sockets “tombstones” first? And then just run those blue wires to there?

What is the purpose of splicing the one red wire from the ballast to connect to the two remaining bulb ends? Does this connect the bulbs in parallel - so that when one burns out the other will stay lit? (as opposed to the old wiring scheme where both go out when only one actually burns out)

Can someone tell me why don't they just have two red wires and two blue wires each one going to each separate end cuz that's what it looks like is going on to me but then again I just smoked a big one and maybe I'm too wired

Your dangerous with your wiring . you can't come out the ceiling with your wires like that. it's against the electrical codes
