Wohoo I found this on your site after looking at something else and I just gave it a go and I made it - ok my lines aren't completely straight and my corners are a tad skuewiff however I am totally fine with it - thanks very much
I live in the U.S. never heard or seen a corner book mark. Thank you Learned something new and wonderful. I quilt and have lots of scrapes. I know what to do now...Thank you.
Hi, your tutorial is great. Very easy to understand and follow. What a great idea to use up fabric scraps👍👍👍. I'll be busy making these and gifting them. Thank you for sharing.
I got given a bookmark like this and I've recently been inspired to try to replicate it. Thank you for such a straightforward tutorial. I'm looking forward to making a bunch!
What a fabulous idea! I am an avid bookworm and just love this idea - never seen this before. This would be just great when giving a book as a gift to pop one of these inside :)
My granddaughter fought me a photo of a fabric bookmark asking if I could make a couple for her. Of course I headed to RUclips! Your instructions are great. They are very detailed. I like that. I have some precut 5” squares that I will use for this project. I usually make pillow cases and quilts so this will makes nice small project for me.
How did they turn out with the pre-cut squares? I'm making a bunch for Christmas and have a ton of the pre cut squares sitting around and decided to make these this year.
Great tutorial. I will be making these, I have lots of scraps that will work. These would be good at a craft bazaar. Thank You for Sharing your Time, and your Talent with all of us.
Loved the video. You made 4 inch squares on your video, what size do you make them for a book mark? I am learning to embroidery from my 96 year mom, and add hope to add that to the bookmark.!!
Hiya I'm wanting to make these for Xmas left it to let min as always I've got decovil light interface in my stash do you think that would work? Thanks x
The measurements for the small bookmark are 4". The one I made in the video was not but I labeled it 4" to show you. My apologies if I made it confusing.
Sorry for the confusion. The small ones are made from a piece of fabric 4" by 4". I thought people might notice that mine was much bigger in the video.
@@ChristinesCrafts You made the 4 x 4 in this video, and said it was made larger for us to see? What would the size dimension be for a paperback book? Thank you!
@@karenpalmer9988 finished dimension is going to be the starting dimension minus twice the seam allowance, so for 4” start and 3/8 seam it’d be just over 3 inches and that’s exactly the size shown with the smaller ones.
These are much easier than I expected! What type of interfacing did you use? And I’m a complete noob and is there a special type of stitch you use for top stitching or do you use any of the stitches?
You can use any weight interfacing you like, it will just end up stiffer or softer. I used a medium weight iron-on interfacing. You can use any stitches for top stitching. I just used an ordinary straight stitch making sure the stitch size was not too small. They would look great with a fancy embroidery stitch though!
You could always glue some lace on. If you want come lace to stick out beyond the front triangle you could cut that square in half along the diagonal and then sew the two pieces back together (right sides facing) trapping the lace between them. Then when you turned it out you would have the lace sticking out beyond the triangle. This would make the triangle slightly smaller so you may need to cut out a slightly larger square to start with. To be honest, I have not tried it myself. Good luck if you give it a try and please let us all know how it goes. 😀
Can you tell me what the actual size is for the smaller ones you made at the end of the tutorial? They look like they would fit a paperback book which is what I need. The 4 x 4 is way to large for a smaller book...Thank you!
If you use 4 x 4 that will make a bookmark that is suitable for a paperback book. I simply made it larger to show up better in the tutorial. I thought people might look and say that is bigger than 4"!
I am sure they can but I haven't tried. They just won't be as stiff. If they turn out too floppy you could try simply adding an extra layer of fabric in.
I am not sure what you mean. If you mean when I top stitch the bookmark. I did mine at 1/4". If that is not what you meant please hit reply and I will try again to answer your question.
@@ChristinesCrafts Sorry that I wasn't more clear. It can be hard when using a text format. So you cut the larger one at 4" but what size were the ones at the end of the video? Were they same size? To me they looked smaller. Maybe my eyes deceived me. Anyway, thanks for answering me.
@@foechicken8023 That makes perfect sense. I think I caused the confusion in the video! The one I sewed was larger just so it was easier for you to see. The ones at the end, which I think are the perfect size, were made using 4" squares. I hope that clears it up. 😀
I can't wait to make these ! Thank You
Enjoy yourself. They are a great little project. 😀
I had no idea corner bookmarks were a thing. These look fun to make!

You can also add simple embroidery stitches to jazz it up.
Oh yes! Fabulous idea. You could even add someone's initials or name to make a super gift! 😀

for this bookmarker do I need iron-on interfacing for this or can I do without? thanks
Thank for he feedback. You could make it without interfacing but it may be a bit soft. Try it, it will still work as a bookmark! 😀

How do you add a bit of lace to this pattern?

Leave the turning gap on one of the sides that doesn’t have the triangle piece. Makes less bulk to turn through.

Rotary cutters are so much more efficient. I'm surprised you aren't using one.
I agree and I often do but I try to show the projects so that as many people as possible can make them, even if they have not got much equipment. 😀
