@@thefishlockerworkshop i tried the reel too. There seems to be some tolerance issue with mine too. Not sure why but i have to loosen up the drag fully to get noticeable difference in casting. If the drag is halfway/full it slows the spool down regardless with the mag fully wound off
In this case, I think that the Akios Nitron F15 is purely a distance, beach casting reel designed to compete with the likes of the Daiwa M7HT Mags rather than a boat rod reel. I have the (equally sparkly) 7HT Mags but I only use them for beach casting. They have never seen my boat as I do not see them as the right tool for the job. I use Abu 9000c's for the bulk of my boat fishing although I have not caught anything big enough to really challenge them (yet). With 165k subscribers, I would hope that fishing tackle is pouring through your letterbox for your use and comment and that you will never have to visit a tackle shop again. I am a self-confessed tackle tart and I do love the frankness and honesty of all your reviews, it is very refreshing. I definitely value your opinion as you make catching fish look so much easier than I have found it to be, lol and I look forward to many more of them.
Good to see an honest review for a change👍👍 too many tackle "reviews" which are basically an advert. I had a look at one one of these a while ago, but in the end went for a different reel, as ive used reels from that manufacturer for years and not had one let me down. Not that an akios has ever let me down, i use two 656ctm's which have been absolutely faultless for a long long time now, very well made bits of kit
Great honest review. I've just purchased the f15 and yet to use it on the beach. Its definately the reel for tackle tarts, lol. My only gripe is the reel seat, would like to see that as a one piece part of the frame like the Daiwa instead of rivets as I can see them corroding over time and separating from the frame.
First full watch of this. Thanks John. I like a decent look to a reel, but like you, prefer brawn over bling. Lovely honest and transparent review. In no way damning or unfair and would place reality into someone’s view if they were intent on having that reel.
I prefer old-school Penn Jig Master's, any vintage Penn beach casting multipliers.. saying this and you're a Northerner ..have you very tried an Old-School Scarborough wooden reel..?? Only serious beach casting anglers in South Africa swore by them. I also collect Grice and Young Orlando reels.
I wanted these reels for years. I finally got a pair and all i can say is what a pile of expensive shit! Out of the pair one was unfishable with the line getting stuck behind the spool on every cast, the other one was just a cheap poor quality reel that did nothing well. For the same money you can get a dawia saltist witch is a brilliant reel. the only thing worse than this reel is akios customer service!
100% honest unbiased review. Need more tackle reviewers like u man. Thumbs up!
- Just giving my honest opinion. I'd hope people would be honest with me, so I am honest with them. :)

Before review a reel get out there and test it just another angler that never moves forward
