And yes, for anyone who is wondering/doesn’t know, those are sharped, chrome plated, real bayonets on the end of the rifle, so sharp enough to use in combat, just made to look fancy, but they are real, so are the rifles, they could chamber and fire .30-06 ammo for what that matters, just awesome they are fully functional weapons, the rifles and Marine’s, to an extent.
My father who was a Marine and he passed away in 2020 but he would have LOVED to have seen this video... for the memories but to see someone from a different country and culture admiring this... thank you guys... I watched this in his memory...
Every time I see the Silent Drill TReam, I get chills and swell with pride. My grandpa was a Marine in WWII my uncle was a Marine in Vietnam, and I am also a Marine. Semper Fi from a Marine family to all my warrior brothers and sisters out there. NEVER FORGOTTEN USMC
As a Marine I've seen the Silent Drill Platoon 3 times. The first was in boot camp at Parris Island in 1977, the second was at Marine Barracks in Washington DC in 1983 during the "Evening Parade" and the third time, after I got out, at an Armed Forces day event in 1992. Each time they didn't disappoint. These are all very young, between 20-24 years old, infantry Marines. They practice for hours and hours to get the routine right. While not to the same level, every Marine is taught the "Manual of Arms" with their service rifle. It is to build unity in the platoon.
First of all Semper fi brother I went through P.I. in 79 and served with second Amtrak's and then with second Marine airwing than HQ Marines . I just did my 4 but I'm proud of my time.
I know Americans know this but, had to mention that everyone on that drill team is an elite warrior in addition to being dedicated enough to qualify for this honored duty. Not everyone can be a Marine, but every Marine is a Marine rifleman (except maybe the band.)
The statue you see at the beginning is the U.S. Marine Corps Memorial. It depicts the five Marines and one Navy Hospital Corpsman who planted the flag on Mount Suribachi on Iwo Jima in 1945. Admiral Chester Nimitz said "Uncommon Valor was a common virtue" and it refers to the valor of the Marines on Iwo Jima. Twenty-seven Medals of Honor were awarded to Marines in that battle. There were 24,053 Marines killed or wounded in the Battle of Iwo Jima (6,410 deaths). It was the most costly battle in the history of the Marine Corps. One out of every three Marines that landed was killed or wounded.
High school gymnasiums are acoustically perfect for making silent drill team movements even more dramatic. Why high school gyms? Because the silent drill teams are excellent recruiters for the Marine Corps.
On your own, you might like to watch one of the indoor performances where you can see their work better. This was more difficult to appreciate but still very good.
My mother was born and raised in Italy but came to America when she was 27...she lived here for 50 years and you guys speak better English than she did. She had the most precious accent that I have ever heard. She was adorable. Today is the 7 year anniversary of her death. Now when I want to hear an adorable accent, I just watch you two..
What a lot of people don't realize is that they are doing there maneuvers with real fixed bayonets and with one wrong move someone could actually get hurt .
Just fyi, the gents in the red dress uniforms are part of 'The President's Own' United States Marine Corps Band. Outside of Washington DC, you don't normally see them with the Silent Drill Platoon. At least I haven't. Watching the silent drill do their thing is always cool, of course, I was a former Marine myself so anytime I see anything Marine Corps related, I always get motivated. Semper Fi.
Yep and nice, no former Marines, unless you got a dishonorable, I know that’s a much modern take and policy on it, Yut. Always stay motivated, for something. Or else shit is boring, lame, and sad out here. Nothing really matters if you just chill, found that one out. Not as fun, cool, or crazy. And I did my fair share before I joined, just not govt sanctioned, haha.
You guys should check out a live performance of the 1812 Overture. It's a classical song that (check to be sure they're present and you can see them) real cannons/someone used a warship's guns at least once. It's really cool.
i was in the regional honors and ceremonies department out of pear harbor hawaii while i was serving in the navy and to your question of how do they remember every move and step? PRACTICE! you are put on temporary assignment (your regular military job is put on hold) and ALL you do is this. 8-12hrs a day of working out, drilling, and doing formations. loved every minute of it!
They don't do this for a particular ceremony or event every branch of the US military has their own version of the silent drill team but the Marine Corps I have to admit are the best at it
All 5 Branches of the United States Military have Silent Drill Teams to include the U.S.Coast Guard . all of them are this good Each year the 5 branches have Silent Drill Competitions to see who is the Best . and They Called Silent Drill Teams . not Platoon .
They are not using "fake guns". They are M-1 Garand rifles. They were the primary rifle used in WW2 and the Korean War. They are 9.5 pounds in weight, 10.5 pounds with bayonets.
Tips to improve your salute, the Army way my friend ;) right arm out and parallel to the ground, bend at elbow and straight to where the inside of your middle finger tip touches the edge of your eyebrow. Try to keep the wrist and hand straight and knife like. Thanks for the video!
FYI....it take hundreds of hours of training before a Marine is allowed to perform. No one speaks any instructions. The Marines know every single bit of the routine.
2 tours in the Marine infantry and STA school across 5 deployments. In contrast, My experience was all mud dirt, sea salt, ship grime, gunsmoke and force marches. I would do it all over again the same though.
the way to keep time is every specific action is broken down into timing (say to go from attention to parade rest is broken down into 7 individual steps) that way everyone keeps the same timing. and also how you can stagger actions and keep time. everyone knows how many counts it takes to do a certain move and the slaps of the rifles are to keep the same tempo
I love your enthusiasm. I don’t know where these groups perform. I assume they are invited to serious ceremonies, such as funerals of high rankin marines. Some people say the reason we have military displays is propaganda to make the public like the military. I think it’s really to show respect to fighters, living or dead, while giving a vocation to talented Marines
By the way, those are real rifles and sharpened bayonets to Marine standards. One mistake you lose an ear or get your face ripped. There are some artificial things like they put "stickum" on their gloves to grab the slippery wood gun better and also they glue down their hats. All those guns rushing by their ears and hats more normally come off or get tilted.
Another crazy thing to think about is that those uniforms are thick and pretty tight. They may not show it, but just about each and every one of those dudes are dying from the heat!
Remember there are the army and air force and navy to and just the marines with out us they can't do there job the army was the frist to fight a foreign country not the marines it does get up set when they only say marines so remember the army and air force and navy please don't forget us have a wonderful and great day be safe
normally I would enjoy such videos being appreciated by foreign powers, but recent tensions have soured my feelings. Anyone who needs to boast how strong they are in the middle of a fight displays a distasteful amount of weakness... Russia has flooded youtube with such reaction videos, we do not need to resort to such propaganda... glory to Ukraine
India has a really similar (it's not the same, but it's really impressive) daily thing with the guards on the border between Pakistani and Indian Kashmir. I don't remember what it's called, though.

The rifle is from WW2 and is the M1 Garand which weighs 9.5 pounds.

I did a year of MC JROTC many years ago and figured, those SOB's are Crazy, LOL I did 3 years OD Green in the Army. Much teasing, much respect!
Thank you for your service to our country.
First of all Semper fi brother I went through P.I. in 79 and served with second Amtrak's and then with second Marine airwing than HQ Marines . I just did my 4 but I'm proud of my time.
The precision and coordination of this is amazing.
The slaps and pops from hitting the rifles down or with their hands or feet are how they keep time. Its amazing to watch for sure.

It's a beautiful memorial located in Arlington, VA. When I lived in DC, I went there many times.
As a Marine, I've seen them live. The Silent Drill Team is quite impressive.
High school gymnasiums are acoustically perfect for making silent drill team movements even more dramatic. Why high school gyms? Because the silent drill teams are excellent recruiters for the Marine Corps.
GOD BLESS OUR US MARINES 🇺🇸 🙏,
Great reaction 👍 Good job as always and thank you for the respect you show , 💛💙👍

English is the primary language of India thanks in part to the British occupation.
What a lot of people don't realize is that they are doing there maneuvers with real fixed bayonets and with one wrong move someone could actually get hurt .
Another point…the bayonets on the rifles are sharp knives. A mistake could be painfully injurious. Great reaction.🇺🇸🇮🇳
She's adorable!!! I love their accents.

Incredible focus and dedication.
You giys are wonderful. "This is may rifle, this my gun,...."
They don't do this for a particular ceremony or event every branch of the US military has their own version of the silent drill team but the Marine Corps I have to admit are the best at it
The M1 Garand Rifles They Use Weigh Approximately 10 Lbs Each.
All 5 Branches of the United States Military have Silent Drill Teams to include the U.S.Coast Guard . all of them are this good Each year the 5 branches have Silent Drill Competitions to see who is the Best . and They Called Silent Drill Teams . not Platoon .
Rewatch this in an auditorium so you can hear the footsteps and rifle but hit the floor.
They are not using "fake guns". They are M-1 Garand rifles. They were the primary rifle used in WW2 and the Korean War. They are 9.5 pounds in weight, 10.5 pounds with bayonets.

the marine band is known as the presidents own as they preform at the white house during special events

Please note that Indian troops are very impressive disciplined troops you should watch their videos too!

Nice reaction guys. All our military branches have this. You should check them out to
Don't forget to stay awesome everybody

shut up hatch
I wondered if they were using real bayonets. Thanks for giving me an answer about it.
Semper Fidelis!
I'm happy you liked this. Check out the one posted on the basketball court if you want the real deal.
Another crazy thing to think about is that those uniforms are thick and pretty tight. They may not show it, but just about each and every one of those dudes are dying from the heat!
Wow IMPRESSIVE
Those rifles are an M14, the weight of the rifle is a little bit over 14 lb, and yes those are real bayonets on them...
close. M1 Garand.
You should check out some of the other military drill team vids. They can get even more impressive than this.
Those are M1 rifles they weighed 9 1/2 lb
that's my favorite shirt of yours! 🙂
We have a saying, "the most awesome weapon the world has ever seen is a 19 year old pissed off US Marine"
We used to put washers in the butt of our rifles to make that noise. Semper Fi
Remember there are the army and air force and navy to and just the marines with out us they can't do there job the army was the frist to fight a foreign country not the marines it does get up set when they only say marines so remember the army and air force and navy please don't forget us have a wonderful and great day be safe
they have to learn how to move as 1
The rifle weighs 8 pounds without the bayonet and sling.
8 pounds is 3.6 kilograms
I'm in love with this beautiful girl.😍😍😘😘😘😘😘😘
Semper Fi until I die!
react to 12 most powerful weapons in the world
The lady is very beautiful!
