      It's so much easier if you use a red candle stick instead of the big thick candles. Gives you more control.

      @Kat May I gave my son one yesterday that I had also hammered nails into (I wish I could remember the channel I saw it on to give her credit) and he said he liked it; although he might have just been being nice to his Mom and her crafting...

  • @CottonCandyNationYT

    For the bleeding candles you could cut the red candle into chunks, melt them in a double boiler, add more dye, and then use a spoon to pour it over.

    You should NEVER place a burning candle on a plastic base! It's a major fire hazard because plastic easily melts. Please use the skull-and-plastic-cup for something else and place your bleeding candles on a glass base.

    Love the ghost hack - I did that one year and hung them from the trees outside my parents house - the only problem is that if it rains it washes out the starch and they get limp again. SO amazing for indoor use but put them out at the last minute outside (or make sure they are under really good cover - like on a porch)

I'm ill and watching it has helped some seriously bad days. The whole attitude is just really refreshing. This specifically, the ideas are great regardless of cost, so it's just a super bonus it's not expensive! Really, just kudos! I hardly ever actually do these things but I really wanna! Just a great job!

    If you're putting plastic over a light make sure it's an LED light. Incandescent lights get hot and could melt the plastic creating a fire risk.

    You can get a more “realistic” (lol) cheesecloth ghost shape if you put a ball on top of the container and then drape the cheesecloth. I tried it this year and also used a medium heat setting on the blow dryer (on low) to speed up the drying process. It was trial and error all the way so I wound up with a large variety of faux ghosts!

  • @themermaidstale5008
    @themermaidstale5008 6 лет назад

    Kallie, you actually CAN achieve those results, but you have to do more prep. It is important to thin the wall of the pumpkin where you are going be doing your carving. It makes all the difference in the world. Marking the pattern on your pumpkin with holes (using a push pin or something similar) and even connecting the dots with a light pencil line helps a lot. Don't get me started about the saws that come in the kits - they are everything, but to be able to use those saws you have to have thinned the wall to the depth recommended in the instructions. Personally, I prefer relatively easy to carve patterns with mostly large pieces and just a few smaller pieces of detail. You get a really great look for not a lot of time invested. My fav was a Pumpkin Masters Dracula pattern - I made copies of the original because I knew I would want to carve it again in years to come. Hope you try it again in the future.
