Love it! I agree with 100% of your list. I have four kids and when my second was born a friend convinced me to TRY not folding kids clothing for a little while. I’ve never gone back. 😂 every child has their own basket and they love getting to help (as is age appropriate) start their laundry and help sort it back into their baskets. Another bonus is that they learn to do it and become more capable as a result.
I'm also a mom of 4 very similar in age to yours. The last one arrived earlier this year. Girl, I've been watching you for 6+ years! I adopted your file fold method when you showed how it helped you and your husband. I'm still using it even though it sucks for the kids' clothes and here's why: I have 4 sons. File folding helps the older ones wear ALL of their clothes. If their favorite shirt is in the laundry, I get to say "Oh well, it's dirty. Pick something else please!" This way their favorites stick around longer and their pants wear out slower. Soon they will be learning how to fold on their own! 💃
I get the runner in kitchen…we have 3 dogs & 2 cats, all hairy & I love the look of big throw rug in living room but it would drive me nuts with the hair & occasional hairball so I just admire others & don’t have in our house 💕🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾
Started implementing that TV rule for this new school year and it's been amazing so far 🙌🙌🙌 I was sick and fed up of all the screen time that happened over the holidays... I'm happier and I know it's better for them with less screen time for sure
Sun pm-thur pm we had a rule of no TV, we didn't have time for it anyway, and nothing good came from it. This change made a noticeable difference during school months.
I just have to say that your youngest child (before you had the baby recently) has to be one of the cutest babies I've ever seen! I just want to pick him up and hug him. I'm a mother of 3 grown men (and one 3 year old Grandson). So, I hope this doesn't sound weird, but he makes me smile every time I see him. That face makes me melt. 🙂
Woman, stop bragging about your grand baby... cause, I am _soooo_ jealous of you! 😂😂😂😂 Currently, my eldest (26), is happily married with 3 _cats._ I'm not allowed to "pester" them about children for at least 5-6 _very_ long, years. 😢 😂😂😂😂
Your hair looks great! I quit the hair salon probably 20 years ago and I haven't looked back. I started trimming (and, YES!) layering my own hair. I started greying at 40 and my husband and I both loved it, so no more hair dye! I get compliments all the time on my hair, so I guess I'm doing something right. 😏😁
I do not have any spatial skills so no hair cutting for me. But after paying big bucks to salons, I went to Super Cuts for 19.00 plus tip. Years ago, after having almost every color and hair style I went gray and it is glorious. Lots of compliments on it.
The emotional advice is priceless. Hard to apply, but so important for our own mental health! Thank you for taking the time to mention it. Also, I did not own a tv for 6 years and I cut my own hair... so I am all for your simplification plan!!!!
You had one of my favorite revelations in this video-- you don't have to be doing things because you THINK you have to. There's a lot of power in that statement, and it releases us from unnecessary pressure. And I love that you shared your list, while knowing others will pick different things. I still remind myself that whenever the debate starts about making beds in the a.m. For some, it's sacrosanct...for me, I shut the door. But dishes in the sink? Yep, I get it. Choices.
I 100% agree with cutting the TV. Its so liberating and now I enjoy it more when I find something every now and again to watch. I have more time for the things that matter most.
I just noticed that I’m doing the hair thing as well 😅 cutting it my myself and just braiding it safes so much time and money 😊 I took over the tomorrow me will be thankful-approach from you and this serves me well, too. I feel that organising, preparing and cooking meals is still a huge task that needs improvement…
I tried an experiment where I wrote down everything I spent each month. After two months, I stopped because it took way too much time. Now I'm back to just estimating my spending and it's working out fine. I still do a monthly budget and look for ways to save money but I don't feel compelled to account for every dime. It's close enough and I'm still meeting all my financial goals.
To the contrary, it takes very little time to quickly write down one's expenses every time. Had now been doing this habitually for many years. Every few months, copying the rough draft into a neat version, while comparing to bank statements. This way one can keep track of where the money went.
You really do give sound advice. I was so stressed out when my children were little that I was a mess. I'm so glad that you found how to make life easier at such a young age. I keep my phone near by or in my pocket so that I don't miss important emergency calls and if there's an emergency. I take care of my elderly mother, so if something happens to her, I'm not running to fetch my phone. Plus, I don't want to miss a call from my children if they do call.
Where did you get the blanket with the flowers on it? It's adorable. You know, when I was growing up my mother cooked dinner and we children cleaned up the kitchen (of course when we got older). We had a clean and inspected kitchen within an hour of our family being done eating. I mean sweeping and mopping included. We could get a snack before bed but no mess was made. We got up to a clean kitchen every morning. The only mess that we got up to in the morning was the bed we just got out of. Everything was put up before bed. I had a wonderful childhood, but my mother taught us to clean up after ourselves and what a clean home should look like. I raised my children the same way. I know people who don't even clean the dishes off the table after dinner and never clean up the mess after they cook. Yuck. I just could not sleep knowing that mess was waiting on me the next morning. 😂 Maybe in a little OCD when it comes to certain things and that's alright.
I really enjoy your videos! I am the parent of 23 24.5 yr old boys (17m apart). I did - and continue to do- many of the things that you mention here. It's so important to just ...be here, now... in any part of your life and will make for a happy healthy mom & dad and children. Cutting out tv time (and computers) is a game changer for young children too. The world will rush at them (and you) soon enough.
You are beautiful and have gorgeous hair! Thanks for sharing your wisdom. My grandson is 8 and addicted to screens. He will get up at 6 am so he can be on screens for an hour before school. His mom was complaining about how early he's getting up. If she told him he had to read or couldn't have screen time before school, I think he would choose to sleep until 7. We all have the same amount of time--it's about how we choose to spend it.
Good idea on limiting adult TV/screen time on the weekdays too...I always end up staying up later than I planned, and then feeling guilty about not doing almost anything else that would have been a better use of my time. I often just want to zone out after a long day of mom duty...but I never really actually feel satisfied after I've spent 4+ hours watching shows or scrolling endlessly on YT. I will have to try it out!
Love your videos! I always make sure my kitchen is clean before I go to bed. It's just something I have kept as a rule of thumb. I feel like if your kitchen is clean, the rest of the house isn't unmanageable. Thank you for sharing your other tips too!!
Love the ironing one! I have only ironed seven times in the past thirty years-our seven kids’ grad gowns! 🤣 Had to borrow an iron for those times! Lol.
I certainly agree with not going to the hairdresser. I learned to cut my own hair and my husband's. I do a better job anyway. We've saved many hundreds of dollars.
Your hair looks just fine. Around 2006, I was gojng to have to spend around $100 for a device to use to continue to watch my TV with just an antenna. At the time, I simply couldn't afford it. So I learned to go without TV. Surprisingly, I never really missed it like i thought i would. And to this day, I don't own a tv. When I am somewhere that has a TV playing, I actually find it a bit irritating now. 😂
Great tips but I couldn’t give up social media or watching the telly. I live alone & often social media is the only way I have contact with other people. Also, I love my soaps, especially Eastenders & Home & Away. Your hair always looks great. Congrats on Opal. x 🎉
I hang up most of my kids clothes! So less folding and easy to see. No dresser needed to take up floor space either. Just pjs and such that are folded go on a shelve in closet.
I hear you on haircuts! I had a last minute job interview and really needed a haircut; I followed the Brad Mondo butterfly cut tutorial, assuming I could get it “fixed” when I had times. It turned out ok, and I don’t have the time to get it professionally cut. Such a life giver to just do what works.
I seldom go to the salon to get any things done. About 18 years ago, I want to get a specific color. Any place I asked wanted 4x the price I was willing to pay and they were unsure of getting the exact color I wanted. I did it and hit the jackpot. The exact color with the highlights I wanted. For ⅕ of the price I was willing to pay. Cutting my own hair was a 2nd thing. When I would go they would agree to no more than 2 inches and I would always see all the strans on the floor of more than 4 inches. When I do it, I get around 2 to 3 inches only. I also believe that I can get it to grow more or stronger depending on the moon cycle. The only trouble is that I now have carpl pain.
Your hair looks great I haven't ironed in probably 40 yes so I agree with you and my daughter has the un- folding of her daughters clothes so I am going to suggest your solution to her keep those tips coming they're great
Another great video. We all have to do what’s best for our families! I also had 4 kids in 6 years. I never had knickknacks on coffee tables or side tables. I am now 53 and a grandma of two and one on the way and I still don’t have them because to me it just makes my home look cluttered. And the little that I do have sitting around within reach of my grandkids, I have to put up higher when they come to visit 😅
Your hair looks great! I’d be interested in whatever hair glaze you use. I’ve been considering doing tinted glazes, but a little afraid for color buildup on brunette hair. Congrats on your growing family. We’re growing our family too and your simplicity tips are what I keep coming back for. Thank you!
As an older mom of 5 kids, I’d also like to suggest getting the kids their own chores early! Even if they do something badly at the start, you can work with them to do it better and they feel good about themselves for having contributed. For example, I moved all my everyday dishes down to the low cabinets so a kid could unload the dish washer. Stuff like that. I used all your techniques when they were little (last 2 almost HS grads) and I still cut and color my own hair😉 Great post for the young mom!💞
When my children started school I implemented “no tv on school days”. Very recently my 27 year old daughter told me that at the time she resented it, but now she appreciates that it. It pays off!
Thanks Kallie for your refreshing perspective! I love how transparent you are. I absolutely hate ironing and have a couple of tips. One is Downey wrinkle releaser however I wish they would come out with a scent free. I like the new aerosol a little goes a long way. Travel with the spray version and even linen is no problem. The other is I keep a water bottle by my dryer, spray, run on touch up and it’s also nice in the winter. A small steamer maybe but I haven’t found one that is super convenient over the dryer. Thanks for your great videos… I always find them inspiring if I feel stuck.
I’ve been watching your channel since your second was a newborn and having babies right alongside you. I have also had 4 babies in 5.5 years, with #4 being born last December. Two boys and two girls as well 😊 I love these tips! I already follow most of them but I could definitely benefit from using my phone less and I like the idea of no TV on weekdays! Just wanted to make one little suggestion about laundry, because I still DO file-fold all my kids clothes despite having the same problem as you. But since #1 was a toddler I have put child locks on their drawers to prevent them from messing up my folding. Of course then I have to be the one to pick out their clothes. Probably your way is better and maybe I will try it, but if you ever decide you want to go back to having nicely folded drawers, the child locks have worked out for me for years. I love your content, thank you and congratulations on your newest baby girl!
Love this video, nice reminder that I need to stop doing certain things and if I do something, do it for me. I agree with you about trying to change other people’s emotions. I am empathetic and always feel like it is my job to help fix other people’s moods or emotions, currently I am working on stopping that. I will still help but I can not let that take over my life. Great video
Amen to the low maintenance hair. I trim split ends sometimes when I’m hanging outside doing nothing. I’ll have my mom come trim my hair after I shower. I don’t dye it. Easy peasy!
Also a mom of four here. I agree with you on a lot of things. Folding children's clothes makes no sense, at least between the ages of 2 and 12. I have generally learned to be less of a perfectionist. Because cleaning the house with four kids in it is a bit like brushing your teeth while eating Oreos.... Also, if you have the option for a kitchen with a door - one of the best decisions of my life. Very practical. Especially when unannounced visitors show up. And I generally don't use social media anymore, apart from RUclips
Pregnant with my first! I appreciate this advice while I navigate how to change some habits now in preparation for baby. Some I can adopt, others I cannot for professional reasons (the ironing 😢 haha but I steam so that’s faster)…but thank you! I love the advice from a busy mom of 4!
Safety Issue - Phones!! Having my phone with me 24/7 Is a Safety Issue for me. I am single, over 50 and live alone. So if I fall downstairs & my phone is upstairs, this could be a life or death situation. If an adult is in a hone with small children & something happens to you, who will be able to & how will help be notified? Also, Nobody has landlines any more. And by the way, who knows anyone's phone number anymore? Or when was the last time you saw a phone booth?
I dislike going to the salon. I go about every 2 years. I do look better with highlites. I have bought the home kits, but to scared, thinking my hair might fall out.... I am excited to seeing your new baby.
Love this ❤ I have got rid of all social media except you tube n what's app I have deleted games and I too am turning off notifications and even on here I have unfollowed so many people that wasn't lifting or equipping me xx
Great tips! I don't think I can separate from my phone anymore though especially if I'm stepping out of the house. I went out to our field to play fetch with our two dogs and I realized I forgot my phone. I thought "ah well, I'll only be 30 mins". Well, about 10 minutes in they bowled me over! Mostly our 80lb chocolate lab, but our kelpie was sorta herding the big guy for fun and the lab veered into me. I have it on video since we have cameras everywhere. I literally caught air and then landed straight onto my head. Needless to say, I got a concussion. In my head I laid there for 10 minutes but on video is was more like 2 lol. But I REALLY could not move or force myself to get it together. And since I didn't have my phone I couldn't call my husband to come out and help me so I eventually stood up and stumbled back in to our house to get him. It was awful in the moment, but kinda funny now. But still, I never leave my home without my phone even if it's just for a few mins.
Great habits! I as welI, hardly watch any shows and I cut/color my own hair. Saving a ton of money in a single household income. Way to go Callie!❤ Thank you for sharing.
Your hair looks amazing!!! Could you do a video on what diy products you use at home so you don’t have to go to another place and spend more money to get it done please?! That would be great! Also congratulations on your new baby, I am so excited for you!!!!!!!!!
Your hair looks great! It amazed me how much time I gained by not watching TV. Now I may spend one hour a week watching one of the shows I like on HGTV. I DVR them and watch one or two on Saturdays IF I want to. If not, it'll wait until maybe the next weekend. I applaud you on each and every choice you've made - because they're YOUR choices and they're working for YOU! Excellent!!!
Yep I quit going to the hair salon for highlights because the prices are just crazy in my area so I just dye it at home- doesn’t look as good but saves me over 1k per year…..I also don’t iron- downy wrinkle release works great for the few times I do need to iron every month
Oh yes! My daughter has 3 daughters close to same age. I know how tough it can be. I raised 2, 5 years apart! I am already planning on buying some of Mary Ruth's products. I am going to order your ebook the becoming a morning person as soon as I get my next SSDI check!
I love your content! I did the TV thing too, I made this new rule, TV is only for when they are sick and stay home, or the weather is very bad and we can’t go out. Guess what? They started reading books.!!
A few months ago, i broke my foot and every time after that that i had to be home alone, my family would say "Make sure that you have your phone on you when you are moving around the house" and omgosh having to remember to carry my phone everywhere drove me insane!... Before that i was that type of person that could get home from somewhere and accidently leave my phone in my purse for 4 hours before realizing that it was still in my purse. Sooo yes, i am all for being less connected to your phone. 👌
I love these, and I love how you want the best for yourself and your family! ❤❤❤ I'm with you on the hair stuff. I might get mine cut once a year. I literally only use clarifying shampoo. Every once in a while I'll do a conditioner treatment. That's new to me. I'm thinking about doing some of these to feel like I'm actually living my life. Thank you.
Re: kids’ clothes. Do you right-side-out them when it’s time to get dressed, or before you put them in the drawers? Love your content and congrats and the new bebe!
I practice a clean kitchen before bed. It's a glorious morning the next day! Thx you for this fab recommendation ❤
I started doing this too and it’s seriously so much more life changing than it should be!
Also not postponing packing away clean dishes from dishwasher; as to have it available to be filled up again.
Morning me is always thankful that evening me took the extra time

I have 4 sons.
Started implementing that TV rule for this new school year and it's been amazing so far 🙌🙌🙌
I was sick and fed up of all the screen time that happened over the holidays...
@@Digitalhunny My son is 40! I have grand fur kids. 😏💁♀️
@@StrawberryPhys Thank you so much for joking around, back with me. I just love that we can be silly here. It's such a great community. 😘💕
@@Digitalhunny I had to wait 10 years for then to have a baby. :-( It will happen!!
Congratulations on Baby #4! Always love your videos.
Congratulations on the arrival of Opal!! She's adorable! I gave up ironing too!
I started dying my own hair about a year ago and I couldn’t be happier. It saved me almost $1,000 last year!
At 56, I stopped during my hair and let the gray stay. Then COVID came and it was one less thing to stress about.
Lots of good ideas. Your hair looks nice - no worries!
Such wonderful common sense ideas for better mental health and happiness. I totally agree. When your season of life is hectic and busy, less is more.
I truly understand about social media. Have snoozed lots of people lately. I don’t want my feed to be full of politics and anger.
Have you found on Facebook just lately that there’s loads of ads, or advertising different groups etc?
It drives me crazy.
@@julietannOsfan1972 me too.
Amen to the not ironing! Life is too short for ironing stuff 😊❤
I agree, I put my kitchen to bed at night as well. I try to do my living room too. It does make mornings easier!
Washing someone’s clothes completely separate from another is a brilliant hack 👌🏻
I sure wish I could have had your wisdom when I was raising my kids. My life could have been so much easier and less stressful.
Love your videos! I always make sure my kitchen is clean before I go to bed. It's just something I have kept as a rule of thumb. I feel like if your kitchen is clean, the rest of the house isn't unmanageable. Thank you for sharing your other tips too!!
Me and my husband quit watching TV when our son was about 3 months old and I am glad we did it.
I quit watching tv when my son was three. Seventeen years ago. Don’t miss it either.😊
What a relief when I eventually decided stop dying my hair every 6 weeks 😃
Much better ways to treat oneself.
This is a great compilation and total inspo!!
Yeah we’re all striving for “fine” 🤦♀️
Great tips but I couldn’t give up social media or watching the telly.
I live alone & often social media is the only way I have contact with other people. Also, I love my soaps, especially Eastenders & Home & Away.
Your hair always looks great.
Congrats on Opal. x 🎉
I know this is so random, but where is your dining table and chairs from? It looks kid and family friendly! ♥️ Love your videos as well.
I hang up most of my kids clothes! So less folding and easy to see. No dresser needed to take up floor space either. Just pjs and such that are folded go on a shelve in closet.
In regards to TV 📺 i removed them out of my son's room. Was a game changer. I totally recommend it.
I bought the conair brush after seeing you use it. I LOVE IT....helps me out so much! Thank you!
Can you post a video for your hair routine? Specifically the hair glossing?
The hair topic/ what is glazing the roots? You add dye to your roots at home or highlights?
I hear you on haircuts! I had a last minute job interview and really needed a haircut; I followed the Brad Mondo butterfly cut tutorial, assuming I could get it “fixed” when I had times. It turned out ok, and I don’t have the time to get it professionally cut. Such a life giver to just do what works.
When Covid hit I had to start doing my own hair. Four years in and I’m still doing it! So cheap!
Nice. Congratulations on this baby. Love your channel.
Your hair is awesome! What does it mean that you glaze your roots? What products do you use? Thanks🤗🤗🤗
Your hair looks great I haven't ironed in probably 40 yes so I agree with you and my daughter has the un- folding of her daughters clothes so I am going to suggest your solution to her keep those tips coming they're great
I’m a big fan of having a clean sink before bed. It also helps to keep pests from being attracted to your kitchen, which is always a bonus. 👍
Thank you and I'm just like you with my hair. Your hair is beautiful. Have a blessed week.
I'm with you on the hair thing I'm very low maintenance with my hair and I have a GREAT hairdresser but sometimes I don't have the funds
I’ve been watching your channel since your second was a newborn and having babies right alongside you. I have also had 4 babies in 5.5 years, with #4 being born last December. Two boys and two girls as well 😊
I love these tips!
Small wins add up. I’m inspired to drop screen time like you but my screen time is RUclips haha. Thanks for sharing great ideas!
Great video
Your hair is beautiful. Great list - I’m sharing your laundry setup - separate loads per child - with my daughter who has four children.
Congratulations on your sweet Opal
Amen to the low maintenance hair. I trim split ends sometimes when I’m hanging outside doing nothing. I’ll have my mom come trim my hair after I shower. I don’t dye it. Easy peasy!
Please tell me all the things about "glazing" your roots! I have some grays but I'm too cheap and lazy to dye my hair.....
You’re beautiful! 😊 I’ve done my own hair for a few years now and people say it looks great. 👍
Thanks for simplifying that!
Your hair looks great! Thumbs up! Thanks for this video.
Literally ironing while I watch this. I used to refuse to iron but then I started buying linen and it's a no go for the dryer.
I dry my linen clothes all of the time. So far no probs.
Congratulations!!!!!! I saw in my email that she is here! Beautiful girl! ❤❤🎉
Your hair looks amazing!!! Could you do a video on what diy products you use at home so you don’t have to go to another place and spend more money to get it done please?! That would be great! Also congratulations on your new baby, I am so excited for you!!!!!!!!!
True. I have 6 in 8 years busy busy everyday. Oldest from 7 to 3 months
Your hair looks great! No worries, girl. Great tips!
Thank you for sharing these they are really life changing, some i have been practicing and they really give you the peace you need ❤
Good luck adding number 4
I also had four in 5 years. Now my baby is 9. It goes fast but your ideas will serve you well.
Yep I quit going to the hair salon for highlights because the prices are just crazy in my area so I just dye it at home- doesn’t look as good but saves me over 1k per year…..I also don’t iron- downy wrinkle release works great for the few times I do need to iron every month
This video simplified everything perfectly!
Oh yes! My daughter has 3 daughters close to same age. I know how tough it can be. I raised 2, 5 years apart! I am already planning on buying some of Mary Ruth's products. I am going to order your ebook the becoming a morning person as soon as I get my next SSDI check!
Love the tv one
You always simplify everything so well!
Thank you.
Yes, your hair is beautiful. I hope that you never honestly doubted that.
It's amazing with several little ones that you haven't chopped it. 😂
Re: kids’ clothes. Do you right-side-out them when it’s time to get dressed, or before you put them in the drawers? Love your content and congrats and the new bebe!
