Thank you for this video-- it literally saved the life of my sweet Emma (Rhodesian Ridgeback - 6 years) from acute liver failure and failing kidneys. We still don't know what caused her condition, but we were left with the consequences. She was sent home from the hospital to be comfortable until she passed, but we couldn't standby and watch. She refused to eat, so we pureed her canned dog food in our Nutrabullet with a little chicken broth to force feed with a syringe. After two days, she was able to lift her head and her eyes brightened. This bought her time for the liver to rejuvenate and the kidneys to start healing. After a week she began to eat small pieces of chicken and small amounts of her kibble. She's now eating her regular dog food and gaining back the 20+ lbs lost, but she's going to make it. Thank you!!!

He’s been at home 3 days post confinement at the vet and he has kidney failure, his skin is yellow 😓 I’ve been force feeding him some liquified food the doctor recommended. Yesterday he was stronger compared to when he first got here, but today he seems weaker. The vet said I have to force feed him water, even just a little bit. I thought he was getting better because he finally urinated, but after urinating yesterday, he hasnt urinated since... I’m happy for you your dog got better 💓 how is sweet emma?

You may have saved my baby's life. He has Blastomycocis (lab confirmation pending) and had quit eating completely. He would take food into his mouth but hack it back out after trying to swallow. I think the fungal infection is in his esophagus too. Then he just quit even trying food. I bought some Beechnut Turkey & Broth baby food and a syringe this morning. He's letting me squirt it between his teeth into his mouth and swallowing it like it's good, and then looking at the syringe for another squirt. I pray for everybody's fur baby out there cause if you're reading this, your heart is breaking like mine. Try to keep your faith and don't give up.

*IMPORTANT TIP FOR PEOPLE HERE:* I came here with the same problem, and found that for a dog that just won't eat (anything) a $2 enema bottle w/tube from the drug store and some chicken baby food with 20% water to make it more fluid goes right in, if it's dribbled into the dog's mouth (2/3rd the way back, or in the pouch his cheek makes) he ate/drank it similar to like a bottle. You might have to cut off the very tip of the enema tip because it's a smaller hole than the rest of the tube (to make the saline it originally comes with create a stronger stream) so the baby food goes through easier... This worked for me and was a lifesaver, and I got the idea from this video. Make sure to really wash out the saline that the enema bottle and tube comes with, and remove the lube and rubber valve piece it comes with too. I spent a WEEK trying to get the dog to eat anything (ANYTHING) and he had no interest- peanut butter, bacon, liverworst... but for some reason the tube and baby food worked. Hope this helps someone....

Oh how I wish it were this easy. I have a senior, blind old girl who's on pain pills, and antibiotics getting ready for dental surgery and the vet wants her fed three times a day. She keeps her mouth tightly closed and is completely not interested. I am using the same food you have in your video, and the syringe. She is not eating. I try to dab a little at a time near her upper lip and or nose (basically wherever it lands) while she violently squirms around. She gets MAYBE a few licks each time and that's it. It's very stressful for her (and my son and I). I have watched like four of these videos so far and the 'patient' is always so cooperative. SIGH.

Same here. Getting the syringe in is easy for me since the back part there is a gap between the teeth but my dog sometimes won't swallow even if I pass my hand by here throat

Thank you so much for this! This actually saved me. We blended up some tuna with water for the baby dog and she loved it. Was starting to worry since she wasn't even eating small bites of cheese or a little dab of whipped cream (Which she would go crazy for a while back). I think a lot of this right now is because she's currently going through her first heat. Our vet denied our first attempt for spaying her as she is a super small dog.

First of all I will say that my severely anxious chihuahua has to be muzzled, held by a second person, and given the syringe meds by me through the muzzle or she won’t take it. Just a tip for any owners having trouble shoving a syringe down their throats lol. My dog had a severe intestinal infection just a few days ago, she’s on meds now thanks to our vet and is finally, after fasting 24 hours, on chicken and rice and has finally stopped throwing up and is only having loose stools now and not actual diarrhea. I’ve prayed so hard! She terrified me. It was only $50 so not too bad if you’re worried about money, just make sure the vet doesn’t do any tests if they can just guesstimate what’s going on cuz tests run up a HUGE bill, just a piece of advice.

Oh yes the guilt or why even suggest. My 16.4 yo chihuahua stopped eating and has a grade 5 heart murmur and 25% kidney function. Lungs okay so far. Found out it's her teeth. Pulled 14 and I'm forcing baby food down via a syringe. The night she came home after surgery she ate very good but not since. So anyway in the middle of all this the vet wants to know if I want to do the new full body x-ray that's digital and they can send one electronically...blah blah blah. REALLY and just what are they going to do??? I'm so sad because she's not wanting to even sleep next to my stomach anymore where before I couldn't keep her away. 😪 so very sorry for all here suffering and 💜 felt prayers.
True story. I've spent thousands of dollars at my vet, but if I ran out of money they wouldn't even care. I have a dog sick right now with a bad gallbladder they quoted me 7 to 9 thousand dollars for the surgery. I opted to go with the medication for now, and I have the money to pay, but 40% of the dogs that have that surgery die anyway. I'm just doing what I can for him to make him comfortable. He's also diabetic, so its a double whammy for him. He'll let me know when it's time for him. 😪
@@JillLynnBeautyTherapy They do that to me too. Like when I opt out of the parvo distemper series for my 15 year old dog. He's 15!!! hes not going to get those diseases. Those are puppy diseases. They hate the informed pet owner.
Boil chicken breast and make steamed/boil white rice and then puree/blend in blender and feed in syringe. (You can ask your local Walgreens/Pharmacy and they'll give you one. Ask for the bigger size syringe or buy one at a medical supplies store for you sick pets.
I think it’s SUPER IMPORTANT to make sure you do it in the side of their mouth, into the lungs would be very bad!
This method didn't work for us. Instead I used a soft bottle that I could squeeze and I put a baby bottle nipple on it and cut the tip to make the hole big enough that the food wouldn't get stuck and used that to feel our pit bull when she started losing her appetite because of her lymphoma. I would add water to her wet food, put it in the blender to make a puree. The bottle was soft enough for me to squeeze the food in her mouth. It helped.

My puppy barely at for the past 3 days. I've tried everything to make him feel better but nothing seems to work. We don't have vet clinics round here and the meds I watched in RUclips videos are so not available here. Cerelac is the only baby food available. I also barely slept for 3 days. I hope no pet owner would ever experience this 😕

Hard to demonstrate with a dog that does seem want to eat. My dog will, at times, spit out the food no matter how back their throat I try to pump it in. She has nearly broken one of the syringes and bitten my fingers even though she's a 16 year old puddle that currently weights about 2kg ...because she wont eat!

Y 8 year old Pomeranian chihuahua mix ate a full bowl of food 3 nights ago, then was up in the middle of the night throwing it up. He puked the next night, but last night 3rd night he hasn’t puked, but he refuses to eat.
Went to the vet yesterday and he has lost almost a pound since he got vaccines earlier in the month.
Spent almost $400 yesterday for blood tests and a shot to help stop nausea, they gave me easy to digest food to try and prompt him to eat, but he refuses.
He won’t even try the chicken broth water this morning.. he’s always been a healthy dog. This is so out of the ordinary and stressful. I don’t know how to help him feel better..
Mine vomits yellow and it used to be clear she has not eaten in a couple of days perhaps and I'm thinking abt doing ur technique but it has not been to a vet yet and it has not had it's shots and it's a couple months old and I found it on the side of the road and idk what to do so ima try to raise money for her so she can get her shots and some help but ima try to feed her
Edit: she drank some liquid turkey that I made had some little pieces of solid turkey in it and she hasn't barfed yet which is great due to the fact she barfs every time she drinks or eats sum
My 8 week old toy schnauzer is so sick. I’ve been taking him to vet for past 2 days. He gets hypoglycemic due to parasite coccidia. I pray to Jesus he gets better. :( I’m doing everything I can to help him eat and drink. Today he scared me so bad he could barely lift his head so I took him to vet.
My baby doggo, Toffee, an almost 2 months old shihtzu was having diarrhea and vomitted yesterday. I just got her on Aug. 8. We travel an hr to arrive my home. When we got home he pooped but it was green and loose. I fed him at night that day and the next thing I know at dawn he vomited. Still his poop was loose but now yellow. Until it got worse yesterday. It became watery. I thought he will not come to that point cause he excitingly ate his dog food mixed in water. I got suspicious and worried and scared when his stool in yellow changes it's color. We went to the vet, I was told to have him confined by to run for tests of what's causing it. I didn't agree instead bought an alternative hoping he'd response to the oral medication I gave him last night (an anti-diarrhea and anti-infective medicine). He didn't poop. I force fed her and I was glad he was licking. Because later that night he' avoiding the syringe of food or water+dextrose powder I was giving him. And today, he wants to get out of his bed to play but still not eating on its own. So I'm still force feeding him and giving him water with dextrose powder from time to time. I just hope this is it. This is it that he's recovering and becoming healthy so I could have him vaccinated and dewormed. Because when I bought/got him it was late knowing he hasn't given shots. I know I was wrong for not demanding, she was a friend and I'm too shy to ask her have him vaccinated before I could take him home. 😭 For every furbabies that's ill out there, I wish you fast recovery. Live and be healthy.
Kees Braga hope your puppy survived, the reason the vet wanted to run tests on your unvaccinated puppy is to check for Parvo...you should never try alternative treatments on an unvaccinated puppy, they have zero immune system and Parvo and Distemper are highly contagious viruses
My 6 week old puppy has worms bad and the vet gave him an Id sedation under the skin cause of dehydration and a dewormer and he’s pooping out worms left and right but he won’t eat or drink anything for about three days just lifeless. So the vet closed on the weekend and the animal hospital said it was 2,000 to bring him in cause they said they think his condition sound like Parvo but he wasn’t foaming or vomiting or no blood in stool I just think the dewormer was too strong for his lil tummy. Plus I didn’t have 2,000 to pay for him to go. So I gave him his shots and I started feeding him milk in a syringe two full amounts every two hours and every other hour I gave him water mixed with unflavored Pedialyte and boy that gave him so much spark and energy so hopefully everything goes great by his next appointment and I hope this can help someone else out that doesn’t have the funds may God bless our animals in need ❤️

my cooper is very sick:(( my mom thinks it’s from his medicine. he has diarrhea, not eating, drooling, wandering, weird breathing, and it’s like he doesn’t want to see us. he’s 8 and he’s a cavalier king charles he takes heart worm medicine. It’s so weird he usually scratches at our doors and jumps up to see us and he loves food so much. i hope he gets better i will tell my mom about feeding him like this

My dog rudy hasn't eating and he's been vomiting a lot, yesterday he did more than 6x and today he's vomited 2-3 times, he won't stand up to walk or anything, I had to pick him up to carry him into the house, I'm just so worried and upset and afraid that he'll die or something, the vets are too expensive so that doesn't help anything.

Here because my 4 month old bully had loose bowel movement last week and hasn't been eating right since - quarter of a cup a day at most. Took him to vet where they said it's amoebiasis and hr has been getting shots for antibiotics and to stimulate appetite since last week too. He wouldn't just eat. He literally went from a chubby lil pup to skin and bones. I lost 2 babies last yr with similar symptoms (just 3 days apart) and wasnt able to take them to the vet due to strict covid measures back then.

I took my dog into urgent care last night. Check his creatine levels and have blood work done on him or her. Look for signs that you might see. Is your pet slow and rejecting food? It might be a kidney failure which would require IV fluids. I'm hoping for the best for your pets. Mine is at home resting but far from close to recovery. He's skinny and won't eat so I'm hoping this method will work.
USE RAW FOOD FROM THE GOOD PETFOOD STORE FROZEN OR COOK AT HOME -ORGAN MEATS AND MEATS NO BONES
Mine hasn't eaten for a week. He drinks lots of water though, which is why he is surviving. He does not want to open his mouth to eat. He puked a lot the first day, after that no more until today, yellow bile. He is at the vet overnight on IV. Hopefully they can solve the problem. If IV does not work, then they will need to do X-Rays and bloodwork.

Hi,need advice..or information..friend has a pitbull that is about 14 years in human .. and well 2 days ago he puked his dog food only once,and looked real bloated,but a little less now.. but has been drinking water, and peeing .. a little poop too.. I accidentally dropped a 25 mg of hydrochlorothiazide to a 9 week old pom-chi and she ate it. Can it be fatal?
*(TL;DR -- My month old puppy is severely anemic, won't eat anything, and I'm afraid she won't make it tomorrow. There's no vet I can go to (it is not a popular profession here in the countryside). What should I do to try and treat her here at home??)*
1.) THE PROBLEM: Help, please. I have a pup who is only a month and a few days old.... She's in-bred, parents are siblings. As I'm typing this she's currently very sick. She's anemic, her gums and tongue don't have any color. She has barely eaten anything today, we're trying our best to at least keep her hydrated by making her drink water/chicken broth through a dropper bit by bit. Even then, it seems like she doesn't take in it and the water comes out of her nose. She's not healthy enough to eat solid foods, we usually feed our dogs with rice meals (while avoiding bad stuff like onions, garlic, etc) and not dog food. She's whimpering, and my family is at a loss on what to do. We already lost her two other siblings a few days ago.
2.) NO VET TO TURN TO: The thing is, WE DON'T have a vet where I live! There are only cheap pet shops, and the nearest vet I know of is miles away in the main city. Which would take more than 5 hours if I were to travel through public transport (we don't own a car, and we live on the countryside). We tried taking our puppies to the vet before, but public transport is so rough that they get stressed and their conditions worsen. Once we get there, our "vet" is not very good, too. His clinic is obviously unhygienic, you can see flies. You can smell pet excretions. And he wastes our time, effort, and money by treating our pups with expensive medicine, we even let him take care of the pups himself since we don't want to mess up the prescriptions and procedure. But they still die in the end!! We sometimes doubt if he is even properly certified. But the next vet is even farther away than that. We can't afford to do that when we can't even pay our own bills and feed ourselves properly, and I have siblings who are still going to school.
3.) ALWAYS HAPPENS: This is not the first time we experienced this. We have lost countless newborns after several weeks due to the same problems. We are making ALWAYS sure they are flea-free, and well-fed, but after a month or so the puppies start falling ill. The mother dog isn't a very good mother, she doesn't let her pups drink a good amount of milk as they should. While the dogs themselves are healthy and already several years old... Her litter never last long enough, because of in-bred complications.
I'm afraid this little girl won't make it tomorrow. I want to at least try to do something as much as I can, or to learn something in case this happens again in the future.
Should spay or neuter your dogs if she is not a good mom and you have lost too many pets. Would be cheaper then having to go thru this time and time again

Thanks for the video. I just adopted a 2 month old pup and was dewormed 5 days ago when I confirmed that I'd take him....now he refuses to eat anything and has lost weight. I read loss of appetite and listlessness are symptoms associated with deworming... should I force feed him in this condition? The vet says keep trying... just worried. Any advise welcome. Thanks

My dog was diagnosed with kidney disease a month ago and now won't eat at all. I've been giving him apetitie stimulate pills and its not helping. And its like every medication the vet gives causes a bad side effect which means a new med which then causes a new side effect its going round and round hes been hospitalized twice and has lost so much weight. I'm taking him back in to get IV fluids again but this time i'm gonna ask about getting a feeding tube or is syringe feeding would work until his strength is back.
