Oh my gosh, I think this might be the cutest yet! I love how you chose colours that don't necessarily say "water" or "fish," instead choosing a really unique palette I'm not sure I've seen before in a Pisces-themed artwork. I'm not even a Pisces and I think this might be my favourite of the series.

Very nice drawing! I love the little fish and mermaid concept... it turned out perfectly! It's also great how you answered the drawing practise question. I totally agree and it applies to so much in life, practise and dedication is what gets you to the next level. While school is useful at theory I feel like we put so much emphasis on it that it gives people an unrealistic expectation that just by going to school they'll automatically master what ever it is they're learning. Also I feel that shipping struggle for Etsy. I am really fortunate to live near the US border so I use a shipping service that drives my packages down to the US and ships them through the US Postal service lol. I don't know if maybe you can do something like that in Australia? Maybe see if you can use some sort of post forwarding service through China mail since they have cheaper subsidized shipping?
You phrased that so so well! I totally agree with you! And yeah Etsy struggles suuuuucks!! I've been looking for shipping alternatives, but everything that is out there is meant for larger companies, I don't sell enough to be even eligible for cheaper shipping :( I will keep searching!

Also can you try to repaint a doll without sealant/only using acrylics and pastels
You could, but it would make your life so much harder because the materials won't have a good surface to adhere to. It can also stain the material of the doll permanently and the pastels would easily fade and smudge since there is no selant/varnish to protect it at the end.
I know! i was wondering if you could try it! who knows! it may be relaxing because you dont need to wait for the weather and no sealant needs to dry! i would love to see you try because i would love to see what an experienced artist would be able to do! because when you begin you usually arent used to sealant and you can start with no sealant and just acrylics/guache but you are very experienced so i would love to see the outcome!
Hmmm... but not using a sealant makes your life harder and more frustrating because the materials would not work properly, and staining your doll is never good either. It would also not work for me because I don't like using acrylics for faceups, I prefer pastels, pencils and watercolours which just don't work without a sealant, so I would not be able to do any layering at all. While it might save me some time if I don't seal it would make the whole process extremely difficult and tedious. It also seems a bit of a waste of time and materials if I can't seal things properly and ensure that my work can last for many years. Then again that is just my opinion, if people can achieve their desired look without the use of a sealant and enjoy the process, that is awesome :)
I'm good at art to I love art so much I'd rather have no phone for a month and draw I won an art fair a couple days of go 1st play out of 100 people I always try new things in drawing and I never gone to art school I just think and draw

about the subject of uni, I actually don't think of going to an art institute/college/university or whatever in order to develop my skills, not mainly anyway, expecting some kind of amazing improvement - I actually want to go to one for the experience I imagine it being... like being in an environment of creative people, making and studying art all day and devoting myself to it with other people and so on...
So basically for the experience ill have along the way rather than expecting some goal or something
So I wonder what are your thoughts, and what was your personal experience in uni according to this aspect?
this issue has been really bugging me, since I see a lot of negative opinions about going to university for art :)
I will be completely honest, I was so much into my own art and doing my own thing and taking commissions to earn a few bucks, that I haven't experienced that kind of student life. I was a lone wolf. I had the 2-3 people that I would talk to while at uni, but as soon as our last day was over, we never spoke again. Only now I am reconnecting with some of them because they found me on FB or because they started working at the same company as me. I think that if your purpose is to surround yourself with creative people, connect and inspire each other then you could have a good experience, especially if you are in a dorm so it is easier to hang with people all the time :)

I'm learning to use illustrator at my design school. Honestly, I'm finding the pen tool as my worst enemy. Any tips to make it easier to manage using the pen tool? I know I should practice and look at tutorials but I just wondered if anyone had some tips.
What is the part that makes it difficult for you?
I suppose controlling the pen tool is general. Especially making curves like you do Andreja for your character's hair.
did you try using the pencil tool instead? I use the pencil tool and pen depending on the shape of the hair. The pencil is better with uneven and organic shapes, while the pen tool is better with more technical shapes.
Nicolle's Dreams i have not used pencil tool. My teacher never taught us how to use it :/ she prefers the pen tool. But thanks for the advice. That really helps me look at the pen and pencil tool in a different way.
