    I recently moved from triples, to VR and now I’m about to order one these thanks to both this review by Shaun and Barry’s review at the SRG. The two men I respect the most when it comes to Sim Gear.😻

    I did a review of the same motion platform with some mods on our page. IMO, it sits a little too high. I used the playseat adapter. Made a custom panel to mount 2 butt kickers (R/L) under the rig. It's an awesome piece. Quality made. Combined with an Oculus is an unbelievable experience. Great review.

    For some unknown reason I had expected it to operate quietly. I appreciate that your review utilized a headset instead of speakers and a microphone so we could hear it operate.

    Great review, agree 100% with it . Had one for about 6 months and can't race without it now. Love the braking effects and feel it did help improve my braking. If you ever been thinking about getting one, go for it you won't regret getting one.

    I have the V2 and it's pretty good. It's compact, fairly quiet and adds quite a bit of immersion with VR. The latest software really helps. Some of the other motion rigs require a lot of space and are quite loud. This allows me to have my rig in the corner and not be too obnoxious with it (my wife thinks we past that stage long ago though.

    I’ve got the V3 in my house, and use it pretty much every day. Very good product, increases the immersion, especially when you race in VR. But be patient if you order it, it took NLR 4 months to deliver it.... But again, a very good product

    Great review Shaun, I must admit you make me want to buy one. Actually right when you starting using it I got the itch to buy one. If it was around $1500 I would jump on it, I know 3k is a lot cheaper than some other offerings but it's still a little pricey right now for me. Maybe in the future this paired with vr would be awesome!

    Sean I agree. I was not as fast Initially in my motion rig. But once you adapt to its newness you are fine. I didn’t get the next level motion rig as I wanted full motion with pedals and wheel too. You should do a review on the motion rig I have.

    1) Way!!!!, Overpriced! When you can get a full motion sim rig for $600-$1000, they need to price this at $999-$1499 for people who already have their own simulator as an add-on
    2) Turn the settings down to 50% or less!

    Great review, Ive had mine since they released the v3.
    Only mod ive done is to strap on safetybelt with a flexible, elastic ends, so when braking it pushes on me.
    For me, its way more informative then a chassimover when dialed in correctly
    And with VR and tranceducers ,its epic.

    • @petteri85
      @petteri85 6 лет назад

      Would love to see and hear how you have implemented attaching the safetybelt and elastic ends? Just received my V3 the other day and the next phase of the installation is attaching my 3-point Spacro belt to it the way the I would create enough tension during braking the make in even more immersive without stressing out the motor. Maybe I'll attach spring to the end of the belts or something, but yeah any help and ideas at this point are much appreciated.

    • @icon176
      @icon176 6 лет назад

      I got the idea from a german simracing group..Ill see if I can find page..he used springs.
      Dont overdo it, measure if u can... mine delivers around 10kg more stress on the motor.

    • @petteri85
      @petteri85 6 лет назад

      iCOn psytrance thanks man! Yeah let me know if you can find the group you described. Btw, can the measuring ve made with e.g. a luggage scale or something? What would you recommend? Should the attching of the belts be made e.g. on the floor behind the rig?

    • @icon176
      @icon176 6 лет назад

      U can buy springs with kg ratings, say 2 springs with 5kgs each,or measure with a pull force gauge or even rated springs.
      I have a elastic band, and it is mounted att the back of the rig, so the floor should work aswell.
      One thing to account for should be your own weight aswell, im around 85kg and with the belt im still below 100kgs, and got alot of headroom.
      But if ur closer to 120kgs I would prolly be a bit carefull.
      I acctually overloaded my NLV3, had a fellow trying it out(140kg big guy) and it just choked(poor guy, felt bad for him).
      Powered down for 10 mins and it was fine again, but if that happens, ur putting to much strain, and dont push it.

    • @petteri85
      @petteri85 6 лет назад

      iCOn psytrance thanks for the tips! Yeah I might be looking into finding some elastic bands as well because couldn’t find good enought springs yet. I’m around 80kg so probably no worries there about choking the kit ;D My sim rig area is already such a small place under the stair so probably those kind of bigger fellas aren’t even able to get to my rig in the first place ;)

    Great review Shaun. One little precision, motion simulation can actually simulate continuous G force using earth gravity (rolling the seat at 45 degrees will simulate a constant centrifugal force on the side where the earth is), but you need a motion rig with a spinning center at the height of your chest to have a good feeling of it and of course a full motion rig, not just seat motion.
    Keep on the good work ;)

    I like mine. I have it mounted to a SimLab GT1 EVO. Only problem I had mounting it was the angle brackets that come with from SimLab are too small. In Barry’s SRG review he doesn’t mention having to use spacers on both sides so maybe he used angle brackets from another source.

  • @DavePetersonMD
    @DavePetersonMD 6 лет назад

    Good review.
    I have one of these, on the NLR GTUltimate V2 rig.. a couple of points I'd make;
    If you live in a flat/apartment, or your platform lives on anything other than the ground floor, a lot of the bumps travel down as well as up. It will annoy your neighbours, guaranteed. But you can put down some rubber mats, or some rolled up carpet underlay to muffle the noise as much as possible.
    I've had to send it back to the manufacturers for repairs; due to lack of seatbelt instructions.. don't attach the belt to the platform!! It'll wear down the actuators within days!
    The support I received was top notch though.. A good bunch, so they are.
    Shaun is right through, It's very distracting when first starting out with it. I felt a bit nauseous the first time I had tried it. I was using VR as well.. Within the software, it has something called VR Headway. This adds motion compensation, so you'r view isn't bumping around when the vehicle bumps, but only bumps around when the platform bumps.. It was a life saver!!
    Anyway, that's about it.
    Fin

  • @billyelliotx
    @billyelliotx 6 лет назад +10

    Never used one in person, but I always feel having your seat move and the wheel does not would just be strange. Having your wheel and pedals connected to the motion rig would be best, but that's more mass for the system to move and I can understand why a system like this would limit what moves.

    • @tomasbeha1645
      @tomasbeha1645 6 лет назад +2

      That used to be my logic too, but thinking more about it G-forces doesn't make your wheel and pedals move around, it only pulls in your body, as the equipment is fixed to the car. A full motion rig will give you more of a tilting experience, not emulating G-forces.

    • @billyelliotx
      @billyelliotx 6 лет назад

      @@tomasbeha1645 true, but when I'm racing my car on track I'm moving as a whole with the car. It's lefts/feet/hands. This is just putting GeForce on your torso. My arms aren't moving around and my chest isn't being pushed forward (I'm also strapped in with a harness). But like I said, it might not be as obvious when I'm sitting in a rig like this, but visually it seems jarring.

    • @Leynad778
      @Leynad778 6 лет назад +2

      I tried the NLR v3 last year and i had your opinion before. But in a fast car your body will move a little as well and the g-forces supports you while braking and pushes you in the seat on acceleration. Seat movers seems IMO better for faking this G-forces in tendency and with seat belts you get pushed into them while braking as well, which is pretty awesome. This D-Box systems are more awesome with the bumps, so hieve or z-axis, but this little tilting in x- and y-axis is likely not as immersive as in a seat mover.

    • @billyelliotx
      @billyelliotx 6 лет назад

      @@Leynad778 where did you try one out? I figure at trade shows or something, but I'd love to find some sort of sim racing expo to get hands on with a lot of products like this. I did a Google search but only seemed to get one In Germany?

    • @Leynad778
      @Leynad778 6 лет назад

      I tried it at the Sim Racing Expo at Nürburgring last year, but had no time to try many other concepts. This year i will try out some more and decide if and which one i buy. The NLR is so far on the top of my wishlist. There's also a popular forum with a list of people offering others to do test drives here in Germany. Maybe you have something similar as well.

      since you got 3 positive reviews ill do the negative. if you are tall its terrible. you cant counter the simulated gforce with strengh like in a real car, the seat moves regardless, so the distance between you and the wheel and you and the pedals will always be changing, i find it horrible. if it was a 500$ product, id say its great no doubt, and to bad im to tall for it. but for a 3000$ price tag. you better look into a kit that moves the whole frame.

    How is this for feeling the slip angle (drift), I've rarely felt* it in a VRX 4 post D-Box setup and don't have much seat time in a seat mover like CXC to know if it has this sensation.
    Does it pivot enough to replicate what I imagine a stage 5 Simxperience would have.
    *i understand it to be tricking the mind to believe based on combination of visual, motion and possibly sound.

      Vernon Knutson this doesnt simulate yaw axis movement (traction loss), and you'll find that most entry-level motion rigs do not. take a look at the DOF Reality H3/P3, which features the optional yaw axis movement. imo, it's critical for motion rigs.

      Thank you col. hapablap, don't know how I missed this one. Shaun, you need to test Professional P3 (3 Axis)

    My only concern with this or really any other motion rig is how long would it last with my seat and my body weight. The more weight on it is going to work the motors harder. But it is an awesome rig. Maybe someday. Anyways, it was a great review. Good job Shaun.

    I've wanted this for my NLR rig for so long. I don't see me getting one due to the price. Such a hard time saving for it.

    I know in the US the T300's are less reliable due to lower wall outlet power, could this be an issue for this I wonder?

      Gonzo Gaming I wouldn't run that thing from my utility outlet that's for sure, specially when there's thunderstorms 👀, maybe on solar its doable.

    Next to my love for simracing i like to flight-sim occasionally. I wonder how this performs with x-plane or elite dangerous

    -Fanatec handbrake
    -Direct drive wheel (waiting on your review of upcomming fanatec podium) or leo bodnar

    The heave sensitivity is the biggest improvement when you turn that down because of the road some people dont figure that out because rhey dont know what it is yeah this rig is the best motion rig 100 percent and ulu dont need much people seem tl mix it up you dont move so much you lose the shifter lol
