Excellent video Thanks very much.
Very good tutorial @Jerry Smith , Thanks bro !
Thank you Jeremy for this video. Also thank you for helping me at the store yesterday (6-30-18). You have helped me understand a lot of the details about my A7iii
No problem Steve, always glad to help!
Thank you, its useful.
Obviously you've spent a great deal of time learning your camera . Great content as usual very well covered ty for sharing.
Jeremy, I’d like to thank you for taking the time to explain, what many find is, the complexity, and therefore the difficulty in traversing the Sony menu system. Setting up your custom menus will certainly aid those who seek guidance on these challenges.
I purchased the Sony A7 III model yesterday and am enjoying the switch from a Nikon D7100.
Once again, many thanks for a great and informative video, much appreciated
I am glad to be able to help!
I love the control wheel set up to ISO. I didn't even think about that. Most set up videos that I have seen have the wheel as not set.
Well done Jeremy!
Thank you!
Excellent overview of the new camera and great voice for tutorials! I’ve been using a Sony a7rii for the bulk of my portrait work the last couple of years and have an a7riii arriving tomorrow and was anxious to see the new menu settings. Found your video helpful, but still need to find additional info on eye AF, (how the button functions work) and how to set up back button focus on the joy stick, which I think would be my preferred location (this could be the default setting). No big deal, I’ll figure it out, but appreciated the walk through and especially keen on the new in-camera rating system!
Robert Sherrow to setup custom buttons go to the page 8 of the second shooting menu and select the first custom key option. From there go to the “multi-slc center btn” option to customize the joystick.
If you look for something even more confusing than the Alpha settings menu itself.... this is the place for you ! (despite all the effort put in making this video)
Great video. Even though I've seen plenty of videos on my A7RIII there were still a few things I learnt from watching this.
One other thing re customisation, you could add, or make another video about, you realise that when the camera is in the (monitor) display mode you show at the end of your video, you can change any of the settings you see in that screen (except shoot mode which is set by the mode dial) by hitting the Fn button. The Fn button has two different actions depending on the display screen. Then use the control wheel to select the item you want to change. Hope you can follow what I am saying from this description. It would be easier with an image or video. But I can't add those here.
I just ordered the 7 iii. Your video was great and easy to follow! One thing though, why do you have those little red things hanging off the strap holders?
Glad you found the video helpful! Those red things are Peak Design Anchor Links, they act as a quick release mechanism for their camera straps. www.peakdesign.com/product/straps
Hi Jeremy. Helplful video. A question if you don't mind... is the EVF on the A7R iii supposed to "shimmer"/"sparkle"? It seem to do it when viewing granular subjects, for example leaves and grass. Not so much on smooth surfaces. It's really, really disturbing. Thanks
Yes that is completely normal; the camera does change EVF resolution depending on what you are doing... i.e. focusing.
are you sure a7iii has rating thing too?
*Note* At 31:40 I mention that it isn't possible to activate eye AF automatically with a half press of the shutter button or a press of the AF-on button. Courtesy of Jeremy for all dumb and lazy out there who buy a $3000 camera and don't even have the decency to read the user guide. Some people shouldn't just have the privilege to buy such a camera..
Rough day?
Brendon Brown Nope. Just stating the truth.
Hi Jeremy, very useful visit. I've learned some things for my Sony A7III as well.
I just have a hard time watching your video without getting annoyed..... The little "chuckle" you do all the time is very, very distracting. I've noticed you doing this in most, if not all of your videos.
Maybe try to minimize that a little.
Other than that, keep up your work. It is appreciated.
Are you serious,,,this really bothers you? Man you are tightly wound up!
seriously?
