I did EXACTLY what you said even down to the brand of cheese...it was soooo bomb. My whole family enjoyed it so much and it didn't have the after taste that some of the other brands have. Making it tonight again to go with our tacos and burritos. Thanks so much!

I have so much to learn. I have never heard of white American cheese because I am not a cook, I am single and 65 years old. I doubt I will ever have another wife at my age. So I am trying to learn how to cook for myself. I always loved that dip from Mexican restaurants.

This is so good!!! I've made this several times now, and each time it is delicious. It's great whether I happen to have the chilis or not. The Mexican restaurant I love told me they use white American cheese, and I had tried to make the dip at home before. It never worked until I tried the method you recommend. I use medium heat on the stove, and I am still experimenting with the cheese to milk ratio. Thank you again for all the happy meals I've enjoyed with this dip!

First try with your recipe and it's fantastic. I used fresh & pickled jalapenos diced very fine for more heat and added a dash of cumin. *chef's kiss* It went perfectly with my leftover fajitas from the other night. I'll be experimenting more using your recipe as a base model. I eventually want to do a chori-queso dip in the near future. Thank you for this video

Land O’ Lakes white American cheese had been discontinued so I bought Boar’s Head. It’s more expensive and better quality.
I used mild chiles since my roommates don’t like spicy dip and used whipping cream instead of milk.
I’d put it up against any Mexican restaurant’s cheese dip I’ve ever had. Common sense but eat it as soon as you pull it off the stove top before it becomes too thick.
    It tasted incredible!

I accidentally tripped over this secret (literally) about 12 years ago, I was leaving a local Mexican restaurant and the food delivery truck was parked in the back next to my vehicle. They had the ramp down and were unloading and I tripped over the corner of the ramp. The truck driver came over and apologized (I was fine, size 13 feet get in the way sometimes) and on the dolly was two cases of Land O Lakes white American. The next time I was in the restaurant I asked the waiter if that’s the cheese they used for the dip and he confirmed that it was…I went to the grocery store and the lady at the deli sold me a 2lb block…I experimented with milk, spices, chiles etc. and finally landed on using heavy cream with a dash of cayenne and the canned/diced green chiles. The only thing I do differently is that I make it in the microwave…literally done in 4 minutes.

Try evaporated milk. Reg milk has high moisture versus evaporated does not. This method prevents any separation once done incorporating together. Walking to the refrigerator to get leftovers to heat up with the regular milk method...well, you will see what I mean. N PS enjoyed this simple down to the point recipe 👍

@@jenaroundtheworld honestly ma'am , yours is likely superior to the pre-fab sauce land o lakes outs out.
You do your always exactly like I do mine. With the only exception that I often use heavy cream instead of milk. Or half cream and half milk etc with jalapeno relish instead of the chilies. Just depends on who I'm making it for.
Have you ever done a mexican lasagna video?
Those are wonderful. You can either use round tortillas and leave em whole, or cut them into shapes similar to a lasagna noodle and then just layer it as you would a lasagna with seasoned beef , and sometimes a layer of refried beans. Adding sour cream and other toppings if preferred afterwards.
