They retrieved it in one day!? That's fucking impressive.

Bro dial it down a bit. You come across like Dec from Ant&Dec and Kat on a Saturday morning 20years ago. No one likes children's presenters bro drop that bit watch the subs climb.
I love the line about the poison swamp in this guide especially considering Miyazaki pretty much said that making poison swamps is practically an addiction and that elden ring has like 3 or 4 poison swamps if I remember what he said in the interview correctly
what do you mean addiction? does he wake up in cold sweat with the thought of not having a poison swamp in his games?
@@josevictorribeirolisboa7576 Yes.
nice spoiler.... cheers kids crying now.....
I might be stupid but I find poison swamp in DS3 actually interesting area which is fun to explore. DS1 was more annoying with enemies, not actual swamp and in DS2 there is like maybe one place you will get poisoned thats not optional
@@ZeroLenny I can't believe how many spoilers the game's gonna have in it when I play it.
Wow, I have to comment about Loot Crate. I subbed to them for a couple months a really long time ago, like right around when they first got started. After about 3-4 months I noticed they were mostly packing their crates with stuff I had no interest having around, whatsoever. I'm not into pop-culture, mainstream "nerdom", or Marvel especially. It just wasn't for me. Well, they kept coming. And coming. I made sure to check with my bank multiple times. Loot Crate wasn't charging my card ever, for any of these boxes. Sometimes a few months would go by, and I wouldn't get any, and I'd think I was finally done getting these annoying boxes. Then out of nowhere, I'd get 2-3 at once, and then again every month thereafter. This went on for years. It became a massive joke amongst my family. We'd open them, but most of the time no one wanted anything, it was just all goofy, useless shit.
This is where it gets really weird. I sold my house and left the country, but made sure to keep my mailing/home address for legal reasons at my dad's address, where I grew up. Eventually, my fuckin dad started getting Loot Crates on his front step every month. Then the joke became a bit of a concern. Remember, I had cancelled my sub like two years prior to this. How did they get that address? Why were they still sending them? Why didn't they care that they weren't getting ANY money for them?! Were they charging him now somehow? Nope. Still not me, either. Strange. Now here's the main reason I even thought to write this in the first place. Now, watching this video, I learn they filed for bankruptcy in 2019. Yet...
My dad is STILL getting fucking Loot Crates.
Update: I did not anticipate all the responses I'd generate from this little anecdote. I'll get in touch with my dad soon, and find out what's going on with the Loot Crates. Sometime in the middle of 22 I stopped getting regular messages about it. Both of us stopped caring and he just stacked em somewhere. When I was last in the US which was early '21, I saw a wall of them stacked in my old bedroom and a few random piles of them scattered around. Many were opened and being used as storage for my father's items; many were still sealed.
Holy fuck that was a trip to read
This sounds like the start of a creepypasta
Continue...
Wtf, he's still getting Loot crates? Time to call the SCP Foundation.
Jesus christ, no wonder they filed.

I love how easy it is to tell who the person who wrote the guide is. It's clearly a young kid or teen who cares a lot about being a hardcore gamer but isn't old enough to be great at Demon's Souls, so they used the fact that they have nearly endless free time to come up with the cheesiest, safest strategies possible and then felt ultra proud of themselves for beating this infamously hard game. It's weirdly endearing.
lmaoo this is spot on. I can go back a lot of years and see myself in that situation where it like "heh! i beat this hard game what came out.... I should teach these no brain noobs how to play". Back then it might have come off anoyying, but now yeah it's very endearing.
Lol yeah it’s weirdly endearing
To be fair, they did write a complete guide. Start to finish.
Which works.
So, aside from the how it is written, just the fact that it's done is honestly quite the accomplishment in and off itself and is definitely something to be proud of.
@@JinFreeks Gotta give em points for the ascii map in the guide, too. Didn't need to do that, but they went the extra step. They genuinely wanted to help people.
Now you find out is just a 40 yo tismo hitting the hot pockets hard in his mom's basement while typing the guide
I love how the guide uses the Poison cheese on Allant, but it doesn't use the Poison cheese on the Red Dragon instead of wasting 150 arrows.

Its a reward you get for later ;)
Wait... poisoning works on the dra...

Works on flamelurker too.
The person writing it probably figured it out in the middle of writing the guide lmao
I love that during the Rupert story Lenny makes sure to specify the part where "without saying a word", the horse tried entering the house. That made my day.
This guide is like following a recipe but instead of telling you what ingredients you’ll need, it’ll tell you “oh yeah you’ll need to add in those black truffles you minced already” in the middle of the recipe when the fucking recipe is Pizzi
the farming for +5 is like when the pizza guide asks you to age dough in the fridge for a week
Now that you've aged the dough for a week throw it away. Sums up killing scirvir
I love Pizzi!
"I hope you added sugar and other stuff to the sauce, or it may taste bad" while the pizza is already in the oven
Dunno if you've ever tried following an old recipe, like from before about the mid-20th century or so, but that's exactly how those old recipes go. You'll be halfway into making a dessert and it'll casually tell you to throw in those chopped almonds it assumed you knew you needed
Not even 30 seconds and it's already absolute chaos, love it.

Having a red-tier stone build for a beginner's guide is devilishly hilarious. I know you're new at the game so new in fact that you're reading this guide but hear me out play the entire game extremely close to death it's the new meta!
Lol my thought exactly, game guides were savage before the 2010's
And half the bosses are being cheesed anyway. Gamefaqs guides are a mix of ruthless and weirdo cosplayers.
Guides are either spot on and make the game infinitely easier, or make the game harder cause they’re completely off the mark. I had that happen with the IGN guide for Bravely Second. I couldn’t figure out how to get 2 of the jobs, and so used the guide, but the guide was completely stupid and had no idea what they were talking about at times
@@lucillefrancois150 If I'm looking for genuine information on anything related to gaming, IGN is one of the absolute last places I would ever go.
@@Cynsham Eh I was just looking for where some quests start. Basically a glorified map. IGN works fine for that. I just also happened to see a boss strategy which was dog shit, then checked and like 60% of them were like that
There is something magical about reading some gamefaqs guides about old games, it's like a time capsule. I love the guides to obscure games where the writer shares his opinions it feels like playing a game with a friend.
The fact that I kinda still use this for a new game (yes, there ARE some guide for new games around gamefaqs) makes me feel like an old man... Felt like reading a game-zine filled with walkthrough for the said game
I remember reading a guide for BG1 and for the Durlag Towers demon fight in the village it just told me to get my own strategy...
I literally lost my sides to the demons when I heard the primary weapon was the compound bow.
I mean, RTS and Morian is like 130% bonus damage (been awhile since I did the math but it's close), so it does make range quite cracked.
But Lava Bow is much better since elemental damage is strong as hell, and if you're going for raw win mode Firestorm/Homing Soul Arrow runs circles around both.
So even though he got something right, he stopped at the first ridge and called it the summit.
@@leiderhosen7110 Unless you're going sticky with 30 dex; then the compound bow is arguably better, and you might only want to pull out the lava bow with fire arrows for those weak to fire... Red-Eyed Katana Skeletons come to mind...
But yeah, unlike in the other souls games, Bows are nothing to scoff at in Demon's Souls.
Sticky Compound Bow does hit like a truck in Demons’ Souls. I used it quite a bit.
@@leifeinaramundison745 Mostly because of not being limited to 99 of the best arrows available to you and then having to settle for worse after those run dry.
I'm so emotionally invested in this that the moment he read that there are two methods to beat the Storm King I involuntary started shouting, "NO! NO WAY!"
The great thing about these walkthroughs were that they were usually a lot of work done by one person. People put in a lot of effort for random reasons just because they wanted to, like that ASCII map in this guide. I remember reading these as a kid and just enjoying the random rating systems or jokes or graphics that people put in simply because they wanted to. It was a wholesome and user-driven time. Compare that to these days where if you look up a game you get 8000 results from ad-infested garbage sites with the same "Top Ten Dark Souls Tips" taken from Reddit. Gamefaqs had soul, man.
Demon's Souls < Gamefaq's Souls
Buried in my closet, I still have a King's Field 1 and 2 guide that I printed off probably 15 or 16 years ago. Being a young kid, I always felt a bit a pride when I knew something that wasn't in a guide on there, like these were written by experts and not just John or Jane down the street. I always have a soft spot in my heart for the ASCII graphics people put so much time into at the top of the guides
God I miss that ASCII art stuff they did
Same. I remember using a GameFAQ's guide I printed off back in the day for Final Fantasy XII. It had pretty details ascii maps for every area including all item locations and a key someone had clearly done by hand on their own. The guide had real love put into it. Was actually super useful for a lot of challenge runs I'd end up doing on the game down the line. It included a lot of really good gambit cheese set ups and boss strats that actually worked too. Including the 2 infinite farming spots. GameFAQ's could really nail it sometimes. I still use them to this day sometimes for certain games.
Gamefaqs is still amazing. So many great guides and I use them all the time for games.
For those curious, with my limited japanese, the line about King's Field reads basically as "King's Field is a good game" with a bit of polite connotation.
Dang, and here I thought I could flex my shitty japanese for the first time
That was probably the best guide that lenny has used in these videos. That allant cheese was was the ultimate redemption. He really did reward us.
PWNED xD
Unfortunately the guide doesn't seem to be real. I mean, it's a real guide on GameFAQs, but all the funny/weird stuff, the gamer levels, reward, PWNED XD, etc - isn't in the guide.
@@Tanner_LaFond just looked up the actual guide to confirm this for myself and damn that's disappointing, did Lenny add the extra lines himself?

these old guides remind me of my first time playing dark souls. I was so scared because the game had a reputation for being really hard, so I followed a guide that had me going all over the world collecting random shit and making a scuffed build. It totally ruined my first experience with the game, and it wasnt until about a year later that i actually played it properly and fell in love with it. Guides like this were all about beating "le epic hard game" by any means necessary, rather than actually enjoying the experience
Yeah I followed an IGN guide back in 2013, it was a journey from the Drake Sword to Quelaag's sword then the black knight greataxe. Good times.
@@aliceinwonderland4395 today i learned, you can get Quelaag's sword. I have literally never used a curved sword build before so I had no idea. Thanks.
yeah i think the myth about dark souls being a "hardcore" game actually did a lot of damage to the franchise.
i remember that i was too scared to try dark souls 1 at launch. now im a huge from software nerd but almost all of my gaming buddies still think that dark souls is only for the most hardcore gamers - even tho its one of the least frustrating games to play as a semi-casual because these games are so well designed and polished.
@@The97Noname I am nor normally a spiteful person, but sometimes I carry a grudge and my reason for starting Dark Souls was to spite an asshole names Drew in high-school. I heard him describing a fun game to his friend, so I waited a moment and asked about it (I had been stuck behind them walking to cafeteria in narrow hallways, they were walking side by side and so I was stiluck anyway, might as well ask).. dude legit snorts, turns slowly and says I'm not good enough to play it. I've only done something twice in my life for pure spite, and somehow they both worked out. I love most of From Soft's work and if it wasn't for that one douche, I would've never tried the game. (No joke, when I was younger we didn't have a whole lot of spare cash, having an Xbox was two years of saving extra cash back on my parents part for us kids. I remember saving up money to try Dark Souls with no other information then "your not good enough". My mom thought RUclips was a virus and my internet access was school computers that blocked RUclips. So imagine my face when I play it and me and my brother initially both wanted to beat it to prove a point. He heard the story and was pissed to. If you read all this and wonder why I did any of this, why I shared it, etc. Honestly dunno. It'd an honest story and I'm sure I've left out other details due to vague memories. I don't know why I never punched him either. ) Anyway tldr, Spite inspired me to play and love the game because it was "too hard". It's not that bad either. The thought that this bow-focused build doesn't get the Lava Bow because the guide writer wanted you to have fucking Fire Spray is agonizing.
The "Dragon death on screen." Is a gem 🥴
The fact that allant strat worked is mind boggling. At the same time props to the guide writer for finding that.
He probably wasn't the one who found that cheese, it was probably posted on forums by someone else and then he just added it to the guide
The Red Dragon does die on screen if you look over to where it loops over it has a fuckin heart attack halfway round and flops out of the sky like a paper bag in the wind
I adore how the writer of the guide acts like the guide is a way to become like an amazing, pro gamer but it's pretty much just cheesing through the game lol
Cheeseing very badly might I add. His """""""guide""""""" is just castrating a known hyper lavabow build by removing the Morian Blade and wasting the armor spider soul.

To be fair, there is a certain level of skill in thinking of the most efficient ways to cheese every boss. BUT, it's still less skill than just fighting the bosses the "intended" way.
Are you questioning the master's skills?!
@@armedweiss5531 I would argue that killing a dragon you don't need to kill and farming stones for 5 hours is the least efficient way to kill a boss imaginable

It has all the coolest sounds you can put in a word, the meaning is cool, it's historical and interesting and Greek, and it perfectly describes the boss.
But he made up for his misstep with the gamer graduation titles. A++ Gamefaqs guide right there.
The author struck me as the type of kid who hated anything that wasn't dripping with edge and Japanese culture. It's like the kid in class who says all those old Greek philosopher guys were idiots because they didn't fully understand some of their quotes, and as all kids know anything you don't fully understand is automatically and objectively stupid.

But the "funny" parts seem to have been edited into the guide after by someone to make it more fun for the video. Not even the "you graduated from x to y" partes are real. It's basically all made up. lmao
The original guide has some mannerisms you'd expect from someone writing for gamefaq 13 years ago, but the guy who wrote the guide even had it edited and published OFFICIALLY as the deluxe guide by Atlus on the NA publication of the game. It's not some random kid.
@@gianni.sacciloto Probably an edit by someone who incorporated their own aspects and re-published it as their own then? I'm guessing you're talking about Volume's guide which can be found as a recommended 2009 guide on Gamefaqs that does do the tearstone bow build and does mention the death cloud cheese for King Allant (specifically death cloud, not the spell Lenny used). However, that guide does not have the ascii map for Tower of Latria 1. Because of the effort the guide still have in places that isn't found in the official one I seriously doubt it was an intentional rewrite for the video. The only way I could see it be the case is if the guide was suggested / sourced by someone else for Lenny to use, don't know if he finds them himself or if other people find a funny guide for him and he picks which one to use. If so that someone may have chosen to summarize the guide and took too many liberties in the process. There isn't really something like a "fake guide" though. It still accomplishes to comprehensively guide people through the game so for all intent and purpose it is a legitimate guide, only its age is questionable and the writing doesn't make it apparent that the personality of the writer was acted out.
Think it is just a kid / young teen that plagiarized the real guide and made it their own at some point. Doesn't really matter any ways, videos are still funny and only Lenny himself knows the answer.

Tbf hyper mode bow cheese really breaks this game. It also helps that a lot of the bosses can even be confortably killed with this strat. Thief ring is a blessing.
Allant can actually be killed from all across the room via hyper mode bow and he never aggroes. Just be sure not to use fire arrows, since those eventually will push him back too much and make you have to get closer, finally triggering him.

The guide you are using makes me realize that I was actually pretty good at demon souls when I first played it. Considering the fact that I played a knight and I tried to literally have all even equal status because I was to stupid to realize how to min max builds. 🙂🙃😅
One thing underrated about modern guides and tier lists is that they tend to consider the time it takes and the ability to use a strategy and/or a build several times without RNG getting in your way. This guide might make the Compound Bow and other strats seem amazing, but it also takes far longer to make it reach its full potential than any of the boss fights, you have to grind even longer to buy ammo and you're apparently supposed to farm materials by doing PVP fights (against players that will most likely be using more time-efficient strats).
Some of those strats were insane, and it's even more insane that they were still effective on a remake that was released 11 years after the original game!!
You're a madlad Lenny, but a very entertaining madlad!
The False King Alant cheese was the ultimate redemption arc for the guide. Ignore the 5 hour grind to upgrade the bow, ignore that it doesn't mention you need a boss soul for a spell until it's too late, that cheese is so good that it more than makes up for it.
we gotta thank for not fixing harmless glitches/exploits
so many companies think that glitches are a shame to their families & their worst enemy, when often they're just interesting alternatives that most players wouldnt use anyway until it was their second playthrough, if even
Well the "remake" is exactly the same game so no one is surprised...
Watching this whole experience live was quite to journey, glad I get to experience it all over again
The best part was when that kid full of enthusiasm ran downstairs to tell his mum only to be told "Who gives a shit"
Valuable life lesson early on
That he shouldn't trust his mom with anything?
U know that kid now has almost 1 million subs right!? Ahaha i love youtube
@@carlos-us2sx Deserves all of them considering what seems to be his home life with family. Get big and leave that mum in the dust.
@@LostSoul-TeemoMain noooo, look up danny aarons, his mom is funny af
My favorite parts were the “WHAT THE HELL FUCKER!?” Meme and the fact that he put coordinates for the site of burial for the 2009 gamefax guide for Demon’s Souls.
Guides like this are fun because you see how another brain explores and beats this stuff before community hivemind figures out how to absolutely break it and no one tries different builds
when I played demon's souls for the first time back in 2010, it didn't occur to me to use the internet for help, and besides, it was supposed to be hard
I beat the game with a tower shield and winged spear +10, never found blacksmith ed
Yeah, or when you think your smart for finding a cheese and learn someone did it better and made an entire meta out of it and your sitting their comparing your 1st grade fridge doodle to a fucking Capasso or insert other artist
@@hossdelgado626 That's kinda the theme of life in general, really. "Hey, I did it! I actually did this thing I've been trying really hard to do! I can't wait to tell everyone and see the looks on th-- Oh... Oh, someone already did it but better... and with their feet only, just to style on everyone else... Oh... okay then..."
I found about your channel through Indeimaus, and I gotta say, this is top tier content right here. I might be at work, but it's rainy, cold and there's nothing to do - so I'm gonna binge your videos!
Cheers!
Loved watching this live. Love the signature Lenny editing too! Cant wait for some Elden Ring content from Lenny and Lenny!
Edit after watching:
Holy fuck did you actually go out and bury the guide?!
Yeah he did, apparently someone dug it up in less than a day
Going outside!? Unthinkable!
Getting drunk on stream and having a hangover too, this man has balls that nobody else does.
Okay, burying this guide on the beach and marking coordinates to it is I think the funniest shit you've done so far. You deserve some Pizzi.
YES !!
The game guide run is back !
I've been waiting for so long ♥
Can't wait for Elden's Ring with day 1 guide from IGN guy.
One of my favourite highlights was when Lenny got disappointed he didn't level up his gamer skills afterLeechmonger. It's moments like this, where we expect growth and reward, only to be met by hardship for the sake of character development.
Glad Lenny was finally able to achieve God Gamer status and absolutely Pwned XD Allant!!
...He actually buried the guide. What a lad.
These Guide-following videos of yours are by far my favorite.
Only reached day3-4 of the stream, It's been fun watching this compilation. I really hoped that we would've got the makoto story, where one chad-lad voluntarily invaded just for enabling PWT. The struggle to uphold the guide.... Cheers, hope to catch your another stream in the future.
Looking back on the frustration with getting anti-magic field, I don’t quite know why he thought that anti-magic field blocks all casting. It is anti-magic, not anti-god, therefore miracles would still work. It has now become my favorite miracle in the whole game specifically for old monk firestorm spammers.
I wonder if someone already dug up the guide like it's some precious relic
I think the best thing about these guides is they usually include a form of de-stress period. Whether it be literally waiting an hour or backtracking to an easier location to stock up on levels and gear.
The bow damage on some bosses... and the poison at the end, frickin hilarious lol
That "I just got 443 subscribers!" clip very well might by young Lenny amd his mum
I caught a couple of the streams, can’t wait to see how it turned out. Was wondering if the original guide maker ever reached out?
I like how at 20:57 one of the comments complaining about Lenny shouting is just himself
Hilarious video! I hope that my videos could be half as humourous as your videos in the future.
