  • My 242 transfer case would pop out of 4low in drive and reverse so I bought a 231. I also found some cool parts for my jeep

    I like the black grill, it works with the front bumper and the armor like you said. But curiosity is gonna mess with you, (it would mess with me).
    Projects its never ending huh.

    That's cool, I did not know they made a spoiler for those back then. I have one of those sun visor things that sit above the windshield if you want it

    Yeah, 242 for some reason the shift fork bends. Very little or ever so slightly. The only reason I found that or my bent fork was thru forums

    I’m sure you’ve figured it out now but usually the 4wd shifter needs to be adjusted from the bottom. There are plenty of videos on it. Had to do it once to my Xj. I have two ZJ’s. Next upgrades are adding factory fog lights and hoping to find a nice v8 to swap one of my 4.0’s with! Cool vid man, cheers!

    What lift you running? And what size tires?
    I got a 97 zj i want to lift and get 35" tires under it. But anyways it's got the 5.2 v8, 44re Trans, np249 transfer case, and dana 44 rear dana 30 front. Don't know what gear ratio yet but I'll find out when I change the bad right rear axle bearing. Supposedly zj with the tow package have 3:73 gears but we'll see.

      This is everything my jeep had.
      Jeep info
      my jeep is a 1998 grand Cherokee 4.0 with a AX15 5speed swap. It sits on 37inch Goodyear wranglers and Battleborn beadlocks. The beadlocks are not in use. The wheels are ran like normal wheels. Tires will need to be balanced before driving on the road at high speeds.
      AXLES
      It has a high pinion Dana 30 that has a Spartan locker with 5.13 gears wj knuckles, c gussets, psc hydro assist, custom steering links, custom over the axle track bar, artec truss, steering box brace and a custom track bar bracket brace. The rear axle is a 8.8 with 5.13 gears and a Spartan locker. The 8.8 also has a c clip eliminator and chromoly axle shafts
      SUSPENSION
      It has rough country long arms front and rear. The front axle is stretched forward a few inches and so is the rear axle. Up front it has 4.5 dual rate TJ front metalcloack springs, ACOS coil spacer and Bilstein shocks. The rear has 3.5 super lift xj coils with .5 coil spacers.
      BODY/ARMOR
      Me and a friend built the front and rear bumpers as well as the rock sliders. It has DBM quarter panel armor, Ebay mustang hood vents, a very rare rear Lund wind jammer spoiler, wrapped b and c pillars, eBay lights, rock lights and a 5.9 grill.
      INTERIOR
      Front NRG seats, seat covers for the rear, cargo cover, spare axle shafts under the rear seat and a pioneer double din with Apple car play.

    Are you running the rough county long arm kit? If so how is it holding up?

    • @RashadsGarage
      @RashadsGarage  2 года назад +2

      Yup. It’s holding up fine. I want to swap out the rear links for the iron rock triangulated tho. The mounts hang low on the rough country kit.
      I’m only running the links, bushings, arms and brackets. I’m have different coils, shocks track bars ETC.

    Where you get the hood vents?? And did you do a video on the install?? I have a 96 ZJ that I would like to put vents in the hood. And I want to replace my 242 transfer case with a 231 as looking for 2 wheel drive while daily driving the 318 motor......drinks gas like soda pop...if you put out a video on the procedure let me know through a reply...thanks

    • @RashadsGarage
      @RashadsGarage  Год назад

      I kinda put the steps for the transmission swap but it was mainly me doing some of it and exposing the rest. It is really easy especially if you don’t have long arms.
      This video kinda has a explanation of how the hood vents are put in.
