Again very usefull information. I run a mvt ignition, but the instructions are very bad. I tried everything to charge my battery. 1 thing is clear, you cant just connect the yellow or red wire to your battery. 1 of the 2 wires is ac (red or yellow, i dont know anymore). This has to run via the voltage regulator. So tried this method to find the pin for the charge coil on the standard iginition, and connected to this part part to the yellow / red part of the ignition. Thanks for you clear explination
Yes the MVT instructions are pretty terrible, and all in French from memory... You're spot on there, has to go through the regulator, glad to have helped!
Hello mate really enjoying the videos I have the same bike with a stage6 MK2 cylinder and a few other things I’ve left it sitting over the winter and have recently got it out again however the back light along with headlights have gone, I’ve changed the stator for a new one along with both fuses and charged the battery however still no luck any suggestions? Thanks in advance
That's an unusual one, quite possibly the stator plug? They Piaggio stator plug fails all the time, it appears to be connected but terminals inside are loose. Could also be the switch, or the regulator. I'd recommend using a multimeter to check that power is coming to the bulbs, keep tracing the wiring back until you find where the power is failing.
No, unfortunately the Malossi doesn't have a battery charging coil so you will have to charge the battery via a charger when you're not riding. This trick just allows the factory lights to work directly from the battery - where they would normally work from the lighting coil on the factory stator.
From memory, there is a kill switch wire (yellow one I think, but check instructions). It has to be earthed, again from memory (this was a while ago) when it's earthed to the battery it switches off the engine. If I'm wrong, it'll be the other way round. You need a 2 way switch, the kill switch wire from the Malossi kit to one pin, and an earth from the battery on the other.
Depends how much you're riding with the lights on, but if you upgrade to a gel battery you can usually get atleast a few hrs of riding without stretching it too much. Good thing the SR has a battery guage on the dash
Interesting work around. 👍

How it works? You get a 12v for charging battery or you can connect this for the lamps ?

I just got the same inner rotor kit how did I install the kill switch. ?

Ok thank you. The instructions wasn’t very clear it just says hook up to a kill switch. Thanks again
How often do you have to charge the battery on the bike

Does the brake light work?
Sure does, it functions from the battery not the stator so it'll work regardless if the key is on and there's charge in the battery.
