It is the tallest animal in the world and can reach up to 5.50 m or even 5.80 m thanks to the length of its neck. Female giraffes measure adults between 4.00 and 4.60 meters in height, or 4.30 meters on average. However, their neck has the same number of cervical vertebrae (7, about 40 cm each) as other mammals9. Giraffes sleep very little, less than 2 hours per 24 hours, and more readily during the day, as they can continue to monitor the horizon. In reality, they are sleepy, with their eyes wide open and for periods ranging from 1 to 30 minutes in a row10. The weight of a giraffe varies between 750 and 1100 kg for females and can go up to 2000 kg11 for males. Its red-dominant coat is crosslinked or spotted with yellow; his belly is white. Its tail, thin and long, finished with a brush of black hairs, measures from 70 to 100 cm.
