  • The Cape Cod Canal is by far the best Striper fishery we have ever visited. Multiple fish over 40 inches landed all on sub-surface swimming plugs (The Hydro Minnow LC) with one pushing 50 inches! Watch the full length video highlighting our week long trip to this amazing body of water.

    Good stuff! BTW, I replaced the trebs on all my Yo-Zuri Hydro Minnow LC and other Yo-Zuri's with in-line single VMC's. Have had too many nasty accidents with trebs over the years and the VMC in-lines get the job done nicely and don't pick up near the weeds & grass like we have here in SE FL.

      been fishin a single on the back of darters bottles and pencils for little over half my life. back hooks still find gills and eyes. take the back hook off tie a tail on the poc hook u took off. wrap lead wire or substitute over the shank. tie your tail then cut hooks off. even the swag spit ring will hold when there is no other hook to gain leverage from.

    Fishery is in rapid decline. Maryland and Virgina have mismanaged things very bad in the light of no super spawns since 2001. The 2011and 2015 spawn where hit very hard in Chesapaeake Bay as juvenilles .Let um go fellas. Yo Zuri and the whole recreational industry should lead the way but they don't.

      @sammyvh11 5 лет назад

      In Maryland they have charter boats with 10 -15 people who limit out twice a day on 20 inch fish May-Dec. Same as commercial. And commercial on top of that.

    You mentioned below that you were using a 10’6” rod… what was the rating on it?
    Would a 10’ 2-8oz MH be able to throw these successfully?
    Thank you

      The weight transfer system on this bait makes it cast like a lure twice it's weight. It significantly out casts the magic swimmer, the stick shad and the SP's. Try it and you'll see the distance you can get. We've fished it the last two seasons in the canal and fish in the high 40 inch range both times, throwing it on a 200 staal and a 10-1/2ft rod.

    • @metzodman
      @metzodman 5 лет назад +2

      reel is awesome. being on a budget I'm not buying a canal reel. I plug with the 250 and jig with my Stella 20000. 40 pound is plenty. 250 is not ideal while jigging but it will work. use what u got and have fun. screw the nay sayers. be polite,fish one hook,and honor the people casting around you. tight lines

      @@wildman8601 bought the daiwa emblem pro a while back. I will plug with it but she flexes even when I jig with it. casts a mile but am pretty hesitant on trusting that thing with large in current. you should cough up some dough and invest on a winner. speak to the guys up there or go on a forum. I won't trust a sub par reel up there. too much time planning and money going up there to have a reel mess up on me. I'd rather eat pb+js and hard boiled eggs for 2 months than fish swag gear😜

      Great video guys. My VS200 x series pulls cows with the best of them. I jig and plug with it. Has no problem as long as you connected with a rod that has the back bone to turn those cows your good to go. Talking the local shops is always plus though they will not steer you wrong. Tight lines
