  • This is the method I use for cleaning my lenses and having had scopes for a long time I am yet to have one with a scratch or damage to glass.

I have a swaro on a tikka 7mm mag and leica on a old school tikki m65 I have never cleaned them and if I do il take the gun outside and wash the scope out with the garden hose I never whipe them with anything scopes these days are so good they can be covered in dust and I hardly notice a difference same applies to my rifles I only ever use a bore snake after a shot and only put a rifle rod down after say a hundred rounds or when my accuracy diminishes what I'm getting at is you can do more damage cleaning.. but grouse video all the same I enjoy you content

I have a scope that was stored improperly, a cabinet that was dark, had no air circulation, and humid conditions in summer. It developed spots of mold on the exterior of the lens which after careful cleaning seems to have revealed bare spots where the lens coating was. Seems like the mold ate the coating. Does anybody have experience with this?

I use canned air such as you use on computer key boards. Only because I don’t have an air bulb. Canned air works great

Just be careful with that it has been reported that ice cold temperature has cracked lenses and the high-pressure can blow dirt further into your optic

@@precisionriflereviews2029 I don’t hold close to the glass. Use an attach tube so I can direct where the air goes and only in short bursts. I have been using this method for over 10 years on 7 different scopes. Not a failure yet.

KriticalKlutz Yeah we do have some tight gun laws but once you have jumped through the initial hoops it is actually not all that much just don’t get a criminal record in short

@William Tell Sure you can own them but you can do pretty much f*** all with them.

Why not use a vacuum first?
