@@HandMadeRoyalty Ik I think he's crazy lol. If you're going naturally aspirated and stock bottom then just a cam and heads/head work can put you over 500hp....
I have to say that price isnt a lot of money at all. Its down right cheap which is the beauty of this whole video. watching this helped me make my decision on which engine block to buy down the road. Not sure about buying a rusty engine but people who wouldn't mind buying one in that condition still speaks volumes to to the potential of this build.
I love watching budget build videos. Heads alone cost more than that on mine. When I was done making mine into a 383 stroker, she was close to 6K. But she was a little over 650hp.
Woah $330 for machine shop mine was close to $1100. wash, cam bearings, line hone, oil gallery's pugs removed, deck, balance RA, polish crank, bore to 3.80/ hone, and 2nd wash.
Awesome build man and thanks for putting the prices down for the parts ik working on my silverado and deciding to put a 5.3 in it but want to build it from the ground up but didnt know what price range i was looki by at. Most people throw outrageous prices out where i live and i cant afford it right now but ill buy pieces here and there and put it together when i have everything i need
please include a COMPLETE parts list and everything you used... Im looking into building my 5.3 to around the same power and don't know where to start. Appreciate it.
I’ve been following this built from day one! And it was a really dope built!! Is there any way u guys can post a parts list with part numbers? I’m interested in building something like this motor
you'll never see 500 HP+ with that cam and manifold at the crank... most you'll see is 380 HP if you're lucky. you'd need a stage 3 or 4 cam with a minimum LS6 valve-train to obtain something close 500 HP. a TBSS intake manifold modified for your 5.3L is also highly recommended. only then will you see numbers north of 500 HP. your original rods can handle over 700 HP but the factory pistons are the "weak link" in the 5.3L. you would of been better off spending the money on some nice forged pistons and keeping your original rods. you also should have taken the time and hand port your stock heads for better flow. i went with a stage 2 truck cam with the above mods and barely see over 400 HP at the tires. the nice thing with your engine build is the fact your transmission should be able to handle your engine upgrades.
Throttle body mm and cost? What is the intake because I’ve never seen it and want to further investigate it. What compression ratio are you running because (unfortunately) I don’t have access to e-85
this was awesome ive got a 3rd gen camaro im thinking of putting my spare 5.3ls take out the 305 boat anchor and put in that, 87 camaro 700r4 tran any tips?
Bro I'm building a SBC because I heard anything LS is expensive. I'm climbing to $6K. Everything single part that you have cost less then what I payed. Like those bearings are double and the were mahle clevite hp coated rod and main and the cam bearings are durabond hp. My head studs are $150 arp. I'm driving a 07 new body with a LMG 5.3 im guessing my 4L60 won't hold that kind of power so I would have to look into a tremec or a 4L80 plus what ever I spend on the right tune.
Engine mounts, Transmission mounts, wiring harness, fuel system. For starters. You'll also want to upgrade brakes and suspension for the added power/torque and weight
@@TurboShotIncredible ok cause this will be a frame off build and i knew that those upgrades were needed. I was told to get a running complete dropout LS engine from a 98 Camaro or 97 Corvette, but i cant find nothing for the price i wanted to pay which is $2500-$3000

Cam is from 1.9l with 10.5mm lift torque cam you can get them like 40-50$ good condition
Hey, just subscribed to the channel. i am looking to do a budget build for my truck. it has the aluminum block 5.3l. Vin M motor. it has a #4 misfire and ive swapped out all electrical components plus valves, so cam is next...But if i have it torn apart that far i might as well go further. So my question to you is Where do you get your parts? Everything i look up is double what you have listed..
Check your fuel, if ignition is good. Could have a bad or leaky injector. Most parts are sourced from Summit racing, rock auto, jegs, or Ebay with the occasional craigslist or fb marketplace purchase.
TurboShotIncredible I’ve even swapped injectors from side to side hoping the MF would pop up somewhere else but after coils, plugs, wires, compression test. Still does it. I’ve done a cam re-learn on it as well. The lifters were even done on the left bank(passenger side) lol
@@danielseeloff6324 any luck yet? I'm having the same problem on my 04 2500HD 6.0l but on #8 fuel pump is less than a year old. I've done coils, injectors, intake manifold gasket I even read somewhere someone had the same problem and it was a weak valve spring so I changed them too. I've sprayed enough crap checking for vacuum leaks to poison a whale... I'm close to but hesitant on popping the heads checking the valves i seen a couple people post they found the rollers on their their lifters were pitted... this thing is driving me mad. Oh and I did a compression check on all 8 they were all 165-175 most falling about 170.
Did you guys turn the 4.8 into a 5.3? Or was it a 5.3 from the start I’m building a 4.8 and Chevy discontinued the ls1 cam so I was gonna go with a ls9 cam but I don’t want to change the timing cover and don’t know if my cam sensor will read it
Double the cost for inflation in 2022. It's no wonder most people are just doing a cam swap with top end rebuild and not touching the bottom end as well as using stock intake/throttle bottle.
