Same man they went like way too far with the adaptation man it can break anyone even if they watch this only ep even if they don't have much context of the DanDaDan verse it was that powerful
Actually they didn't. Slow down the episode at the 16:38 to 16:41 time frame, she clearly jumps over the edge but it is just a couple of frames due to how sensitive the subject matter is.
She lived in an old apartment which is 4 and a half Tatami size 7.29m2. You can see the glass slide doors inside the room. We only see them in the poverty apartment 40-50 years old. She was working multiple jobs, and the night, you know the job, but in deep dept. It touches viewer's heart even though she was having life hand-to-mouth, she got costly fancy dress for her daughter.
My first thought after the episode was to look up if her daughter shows up again in the manga, but this was so well done I decided I got to experience it as the author intended
U mean the studio? I really dunno how much an author can interfere with the anime production (of course he can at some degree) but i mean, if u wanted to experience the full raw experience then u should see this in manga (CH 16-18 exactly). But i think the anime did slight better for me, to some extent.
sadly, the daughter was heavily implied to be dead. and seeing how those guys looked like, they were probably yakuza, and all they care about is the money. so it is very likely that the daughter was sold off in human trafficking and died whatever horrible work she was forced into at that young age
This episode is a masterclass in showing, not telling. It also is a masterclass in using its time in the most efficient way to really bring character, story, and emotion all at once. And it's not just Selkie! They somehow give you all of Aira's character in that short bit of time towards the end as well with her mom's death, the direction given to her by her dad, and her moment with Selkie. Just truly masterful applications of literally every skill at play in this episode. The comedy and animation cemented its popularity. This episode cemented it as a classic in waiting.
They were a bit vague but you could tell she was very high up with the city lights below her. The horizon was on the lower half of the screen. The rooftop was wet with rainwater so it reflected the backdrop. And you could see the lights flying past her during her last leap, and right after her life flashes by, you hear her body hit the ground. The sound made me think she landed head-first. They didn't directly show it, but they were masterful with it.
Asian culture says that children have strong spiritual essence without their knowledge, that's why some children have these creepy concept of "imaginary friends". But it gradually fades when they grow up tho. In case of Aira, she's able to see the spirit now because she coincidentally borrowed the spiritual power of Okarun's ball.

With this, you see the HEART of the series. It cements itself as one of the best and it's not even a one and done deal, there are a lot of moments just like this later on. Dandadan is such a mix bag of genres that it manages to utilize them all so well and make it such a treat.

Possibly, but it is highly likely that her daughter also died. She was in debt to the yakuza and couldn't pay her money back, and one day the yakuza came to give her daughter in lieu of the debt. And it is believed that he made it even by selling his daughter's organs as a substitute for the debt. After the beautiful dance scene of the mother, the daughter says, "Thank you." After that, you will hear the sound of slamming into the ground. This is when a mother desperately searches for her daughter, but realizes that her daughter is no longer in this world. And the mother in despair threw herself from the rooftop.
This was a good episode but a traumatizing one too. And that piano, and the joyful mother and daughter scenes... They used all these to hurt us the viewers even more.
10:38 you can hear the thud implying she jump of the building same as in the manga but more artistic and subtle I like how the animators gave it more lifelike animation implying this can be a real story in real life and that goes darker.
5:33 Yeah, Aira is not a normal person because she had unlocked her latent Spiritual Ability. But her powers only activate because of Okarun's Ball. In other words, Aira has Magical abilities but no Mana/MP to use it, which Okarun's Ball provided.

From the manga it looked like the mother and the daughter were able to meet in the after life. so i think the daughter passed away, we dont know how long acrobatic silky was a spirit
Bro in the dub turbo granny tells okuran and momo that the yokai won't be able to get up because she got creamed by her power
7:40 Backstory for a character who’s now a ghost 😅
Zuma scene will just BREAK the internet
They didn't show the part where she jumped off the roof but its ok damn so PEAK
Im sorry but the kid is most likely dead. That's why acrosilky jumped off the building because she knew the moment they got her, she's gone
acrosilky´s daughter is dead too, when Aira hugs her, she be able to rest in peace and she walked away with her daughter.
Best episode so far for me😢
