These guys can play the living shit out of their instruments. Great cohesion as a group. Wonderful arrangements as well. Coudos to Sean Jones on this Miles tune. Going to see them in Minneapolis in March '20. Great expectations.
thanks steve - the arrangement is by pianist Edward Simon. Ed also arranged "In A Silent Way" for the band this Season (19-20), keep an eye out for the album and video!
Was checking out the newly released album as a possible Father's Day gift and watched this unbelievably delightful video...just kicking myself to have missed this in person. Buying a copy for the Dad and for myself, too. Wow!
i love this track but bro... i get a badtrip at 5:37 what is he playing Edit: After four long years of intensely studying this piece, I have come to the conclusion that I understand this part. Four years ago, I simply wasn't developed enough to grasp it. But after practicing my jazz comprehension day by day, I get it now. It's brilliant. It's crazy, but the beauty lies exactly in these things. When I hear this trumpet solo, I feel Miles's hand on my shoulder. Thank you for this experience.
You don't know Jazz if you don't know him. That dude Sean Jones is one of the greatest. Check him out: Not While I'm around ruclips.net/video/qSD3roH1Z8E/видео.html Allison ruclips.net/video/mHNj4VmljUU/видео.html and 95 South ruclips.net/video/5rMj7XqpQgs/видео.html It go on and on. That is why SFJazz invited him. Check him out
opto: This is the last one. SFJazz drummer is actually Sean Jones’s drummer. His name is Obed Calvaire, he is awesome, listen - start at 5:33. ruclips.net/video/QROTf5Uj4ng/видео.html I don’t know these guys personally, I just like their music; as well as I am a BIG FAN of SFJazz. Let me know if you run across any good jazz artists. Take care!
