RIP McCoy..!! Saw him play so many times in NYC at the Bottom Line, Blue Note and at the Keystone in San Francisco. He would really pound the keys...!!
Hands down, THE best, spiciest, sauceiest, and hotest minimalistic drum solo I've EVER heard!!!!! And trust me, I've listened to guys like Larnell Lewis.
This is what I’m talking about! McCoy was Ernest in his musical approach. Spiritual! Everyone who played with him was touched by his spirit. Jazz Giants leave a Giant Legacy! R.I.P.
Bobby Hutcherson, respect , i sometimes heard excuses from friends who say that they could perform at their highest level today because of such pain and other things. Bobby Hutcherson come and prove that illness and other kind of restriction is just secondary but while the love for music is quintessence and makes you overcome many things.
For those that don't consider Ms. Spaulding a world class bassist isn't listening. Further, do you really think with the pedigree of bassists that McCoy has played with in his life, he would assemble a band to include musicians he doesn't respect? You know I listen to MeShelle Ndegeocello sometimes and wonder if theres better bassist.....Technically of course but theres something to be said for a musicians inate soul and ability to write exceptional, moving scores.
Some dude's (hotrat87) comments about Esperanza Spalding not being on the same level as the rest of them cats and just being there 'cause she's hot and famous are either complete nonsense and clueless BS, or just plain misogynist.
As far as fame and impact on Jazz, yeah she isn't on their level. But neither is the drummer. As far as ability, she clearly can play very well and she does have soul. So, yeah she is good. Does looks go along way, sure. But Jazz isn't forgiving to people just for looks. You need skills the chord progressions dont forgive weak musicisns.
@@ZeAlfredo By 'not on the same level' he clearly implied she wasn't a good enough player to be there on the bandstand, he wasn't talking about 'fame or importance/influence'. Who cares about that on a gig? All the matters is whether or not you can play.
Tom Parker - his style has changed in the past few years. Did he lose time in the middle section of his solo? Much less of the runs he used to do in the right hand.
Bill Cosby is still the freaking man. He was supporting Jazz and other black american musics and arts. I dont care what people think. He is still Americas grandpa
yes, i heard of her before. man i just think she's not as good as them, there are millions of bass players who deserve 1000 times more playin with these guys,i think she's there because is famous and sexy...but i'm just one person . why youtube people cares so much of anybody else's opinion?
McCoy has now ascended into the heavens leaving behind waves of musical vibrations that will resonate in our ears, hearts and minds for all eternity.
Amen. I am so grateful that I was able to see him in concert several times.
RIP McCoy..!! Saw him play so many times in NYC at the Bottom Line, Blue Note and at the Keystone in San Francisco. He would really pound the keys...!!
Saw him 6 times w his sextet @ the Village Gate around 1977/ 78 .
Need I say more ?
I just came to watch 1 minute of this just to get a small taste of this but now its 24 minutes later...
Rest in peace McCoy Tyner.
Rest in Peace Master McCoy...thanks for posting.
That drum solo...whoa! Never heard anything like it before.
Hands down, THE best, spiciest, sauceiest, and hotest minimalistic drum solo I've EVER heard!!!!! And trust me, I've listened to guys like Larnell Lewis.
Soooooo tasteful!!!!
Mr Tyner , Thank you so much for all the music..
Also it's nice to see everyone dressed to kill , the music and the audience deserves it .
Esperenza Spalding kills it... This is great.

Saw him live, with a group of true all-stars, at the Village Vanguard back in the mid-90s. Amazing show...
love seeing esperanza acting as a sideman also
Eric can play drums for all kinds of jazz!
R.I.P.

+pete gregory She's (often) Joe Lovano's bassist. He's the tenor player on the first tune.
ERIC HARLAND'S SOLO. UGH. YES.
John Handy's on oxygen, yet he still kills.
+insaneintherainmusic You mean Bobby Hutcherson. I don't see any oxygen on Mr. Handy.
If you need oxygen, you should be playing the London O2 Arena... just saying :)
Eric Harland is the shit
Well, that's your opinion, but: maybe you’re right. Listen to the album “Enlightenment” with Alphonse Mouzon. It’s (very) old, but has a bite.
u didnt quite get that
hahaha I wasn't expecting Bill Cosby!
Left hand of god
The haters need to listen back to her solo, there's all the proof you need.
just my opinion. she' s a good bassplayer, ma these people are monsters, different level.
Not a bad vocalist either.
👍👍👍
👌👌👌👌👌...2020

@@ZeAlfredo did you realy just diss Eric Harland
really
That moment when you're watching this in 2017 and Bill Cosby comes out of nowhere ...
Such great music, but the Cosby of it all makes me a bit hesitant to share this video...
e.h.'s bowtie looks like a band aid.
man...seriously? ever heard of her before? and ain´t that the decision of the monster, with whom they wanna play?
Is this sound mono??
Is it just me or was Tyner over-using the sustain pedal? At some points his playing sounded overly muddy in the lower register.
Tom Parker - his style has changed in the past few years. Did he lose time in the middle section of his solo? Much less of the runs he used to do in the right hand.
