Clarity for those doubting the teacher as a former student in DMV area specifically moved to Montgomery county for better education per my parents and currently have a sister who teaches at a DC charter school in MD they pay at least 55-70K STARTING 1. it’s the highest paying school district and you can attribute those rates to the cost of living in DC/MD 2. politicians who live in the area (5-20mins from DC depending on where you live in MD) whose kids go to these schools and every year it is either a #1 school district or in top 10 in the US for years for a reason Very rigorous programs and absurd amounts of school testing that’d drive anyone cuckoo trust me 😅

In moco MD teachers start at 52 and max out around 75 after 10-15 years I believe but can make more based on how many classes they teach + teaching summer school or coaching an extracurricular sport

My boy just started teaching in MCPS he makes 52 a year but you can make more if you teach summer school tutor etc. my teacher in hs told me he makes more tutoring privately (while teaching too) than what he gets from the county
How do you get a $105000 a year as a teacher? A lot of the teachers that were on Here we're making like 15000 a year. It's obviously the amount of education that they have has a bearing butt but we are screaming that teachers are underpaid and yet you're cherry picking teachers here there that are making close to and over a 100 K. Depends on the district. She is working in literally one of the highest paying school districts on the US. She also likely has an advanced degree which bumps her pay. Many people don’t know but teachers can actually make quite a bit (I’m a senior in college studying education for context)
She’s been in education for almost 20yrs. To be there for that time you must have performance evals and certifications. Which increases your pay. You do not stay at the salary you began with. You get cost of living and performance pay (which is kinda like bonuses).
