I came up from a dive in November and had to say, "I think I just shot a sea turtle documentary." I followed a turtle that didn't mind me for a total of 25 minutes and got a 19 minute video and a 6 minute video. I even got him pooping, twice! Watched him feed on coral and he kicked up a scorpion fish who moved over to let him feed. It was amazing.

Wow! That is great. This is how the filming bug starts. Well done! You clearly were calm and have great buoyancy as the turtle didn’t spook.

John, since you are going to Raja Ampat and Bonaire, here is one of our first videos that ties Raja Ampat, Bonaire history and coral: ruclips.net/video/4woaK_piXVg/видео.html

@@ADiversLife, hi Rich. At your suggestion I watched (again!--- also watched it earlier today before you suggested it) this video you made about comparing Raja Ampat's coral to those of Bonaire's pre-1998 era. To put the deterioration of Caribbean coral reefs in an appropriate worldwide coral reef context, it is exactly this sort of video that needed to be made. And, as you had so much experience with the Bonaire corals in their former glory days, you have to be one of the most qualified people to make that comparison. While it's true that there is greater coral species diversity in the Indo-pacific than there is in the Caribbean, I still maintain (and, I readily admit, it's simply my personal bias) that the most beautiful of coral reefs are those Caribbean examples that abound in either Acrapora palmata and/or Acrapora cervicornis. Then throw in all of those magnificent boulder star and lettuce-type examples along with the pillar coral and you have the greatest of coral reefs. Those videos you made of the south Bonaire reef near that radio tower are absolutely magnificent and I hope that my wife and I can get out there to very, very, very carefully dive amongst those hard corals and document them via photographs and videos. We will hire the guide you suggest. But I think it might be another year or two before we can get out there as we have other world travel commitments coming up first. I am just so glad to know that in 2023 some stands of incredible Caribbean hard corals still exist in near pristine to pristine condition there in Bonaire. I am always chasing that vision of coral paradise. Again, am thoroughly amazed by your videos (even watched the one on how to buy a boat--- and I'll probably never do that) of these take-us-back-in-time coral videos. Thanks again for all of your very much appreciated hard work on your videos.

Found your channel a few days ago and I love it! It's great to hear a voice over in a dive video with additional info! Keep up the great work, maybe people get a better understanding why it is so important to preserve all this beautifull nature.

Awesome video. I e often wondered why I don't see sharks at bonaire. Usually when a reef is healthy, the sharks are present. I looked for sharks and rays last year but found none. Going back soon. Where is baby beach located?

If you take the road to Sorobon, turn right at the windmill. Head south past the abandoned fish farm (LHS). It is the first paved pull over spot on the left.

Thank you by the way. I recommend diving with Bas Tol if you have not done a lot of rough water entries. He is a local dive guide who is really good and reasonably priced.

@@ADiversLife I might just do that. I dive mainly in the puget sound here in Washington state so I'm no stranger to rough shore entries but not too experienced with rough surf entries
