it’s a true story between two classmates in art college “ Arabic language department “ in Baghdad university. it has been written in 1972 by the student “ Hasan almarwani “ the girl’s name is “ Layla “, he told her about his feelings but she is not giving to him the same feeling, after two years he came back again to her but without chance, after that the girl was engaged to another guy, a rich guy in same college, so that he writes this poem. it’s incredible poetry from his broken heart. thanks for sharing this beautiful videos, we will support you and your channel.

Well that's no quite true. They loved each other so it wasn't unrequited love as u said. The problem was that she was forced into marrying sm1 she doesn't love and she didn't tell him. She just got engaged and left him without saying a word. So he was heartbroken and he narrated this poem on their graduation ceremony and she started crying with him. Her fiance at the time noticed this and after knowing what happened he left her bcs he was touched by the poem and their story.

And when I published an appeal and an announcement to know the author of that poem, I found the writer of the poem, a poor poor man
He is an Arabic language teacher studying in one of the remote areas of Baghdad. When he came to me, he brought me the entire poem, 355 verses
And everyone who claims that this is his poem was
He brings me two or four lines of the poem
When Hassan Al-Marwani came to the studio and started composing the poem, he started crying.....
He told me I am not a poet.
Because I wrote it as an expression of a human condition that I went through in my college days, it brought back memories

Hassan Al-Marawani left and traveled to the Emirates because of her..and he stayed there for more than 16 years..to this day.
As for the poem, it was scrawled on the wall of the University of Baghdad, and it is still present, in memory of “for that wonderful and sad love.... Greetings.. and there is no consolation for the one who lost his beloved, for torment and poetry has become his doctor...

I cry each time I hear this song... this is how i feel when I listen to this poetry and the performance/music of the great Kadhem Assaher.
The lyrics of this song were said by a true lover of his beloved, who has rejected the poet's love n order to marry some other rich guy. The phrase " Even though my sails never sailed away" means that my love for that gırl has never left my heart. 19:17
The part that you didn't understand about his ships that never sailed away meaning that his homeland abandoned him yet he's still couldn't wake up from the shock and move on.. couldn't sail from the port of the homeland that abandoned him. It's like his world is standing still while his whole homeland is moving away.
BTW, Kadim is not only the singer, but he's the composer of this song music, and also the composer of most of the songs that he performed. He also composed some songs for other Arab singers as well.
