Inhaling this Gas can Paralyse You for Life - Here's Why!

  • Nitrous Oxide / laughing gas causes depletion of Vitamin B12. Doing this for long enough may cause subacute degeneration of the cord which can lead to life long inability to use your arms and legs properly. In effect you will be paralysed. I heard of one poor person who was using hundreds of these whippets had paralysis within a week.
    I have recently met two young people who have had severe tiredness related to B12 deficiency, hence this video. I also explain why just replacing the B12 will not be effective in avoiding this condition. If you want more information, please sign up for my Newsletter (see below) and I will email you more detail about this issue. I will also set up a service for people to test their own levels to check if they have this issue - information will be provided in the Newsletter.

    I just got out of the hospital from using nitrous oxide. It did severe damage to my spinal cord and I have numb and weak limbs. I now use a walker to walk & have to take B12 shots every day. I'm only 35 years old. DONT DO NITROUS!

      I was as in the hospital for 3 days. I couldn't walk. I couldn't pull myself up on the toilet to use it. It was bad. It was really bad. I had to use a walker, they gave me B12 injections when I was in the hospital & gave my pills when I left. I was really in a bad place mentally & physically when I started using the nitrous heavily. It was DV, situation. My twins were 3. I realized that I didn't want to die. I moved home with my parents & got the help I needed.
      The doctors told me it would take 2-4 weeks before I would start walking again. I recognized the wake up call to be better for my kids (this was my ONLY motivation at the time). I didn't want my recovery to take that long. I started by crawling up& down my stairs pulling myself with my arms. Then on my hands& knees. Then just my knees, hand on rail, pulling myself up& down. I used the walker to walk around, I mean I walked circles around my house. Then I just was trying my best to grab things chairs& shit like that to walk around, then to just use those items to catch if I lost balance till I was walking unassisted. I had my first PT when I was still using the walker& they wheeled my into/out of PT. I had another like 10 days later& I walked in the next time. It took me longer to actually be able to run& catch my kids again, so I played a game of scary T-Rex. I just looked like a drunk trex "running" around the yard. I tried working& moving my hands as much as possible. I still get tingling, the pain is sharp of something falls on my feet& my feet now freeze easily.
      I'm not saying any of this to boast. I just want you to know, I was exactly where you are now. I was 30 at the time. I'm now 33. I hope that your situation isn't worse than mine. I really encourage you to exercise your legs& arms as much as possible. It's going to hurt& you're going to be sore& tired& angry & depressed. But please don't let it stop you. This world can be really shitty,
      But winning every battle that tried to knock you down is pretty dope. I still have back pain, but that's been an issue for a while & I'm trying to strengthen my core. Please keep getting up to walk, push yourself. If you can't find the motivation for yourself, find it for someone or something else. I wish you the best on your journey of healing& growth. Be safe.

But I do as much reading& learning as I can& I do look up all the questions my kids have that I don't have answers to. I think that help with creating more Neuro paths(?) Neurotransmitter (?) I have the autoimmune disease that causes B12 deficiency, called Pernicious Anemia. It is in turn caused by something called Atrophic Metaplastic Gastritis. The immune system destroys the Parietal Cells in the stomach and also what those cells produce, Intrinsic Factor. IF is needed to be able to absorb B12 from food. Without it, you rely solely on the liver's backup supply which will last 3-7 years if you've regularly been eating animal products. This disease apparently usually only affects people age 60+, but I may have been around 20 when I started declining, and I was diagnosed after nearly dying at age 26. Being a young woman and slowly declining for years no one could find anything wrong, I got labeled with Fibromyalgia. I even saw a Rheumatologist who never thought to test my B12. It wasn't until I started having seizures which were initially labeled as "faints" that I was finally able to see a Neurologist who figured it out. Unfortunately I have permanent Neurological damage from this, but thankfully no more seizures. Without B12, you are also unable to go into Ketosis (using fat stores to supply muscles with energy), so if you don't eat around the clock or overexercise, you will damage your muscles similarly to Rhabdomyolysis. I was in the military so you can imagine what happened. Thankfully my heart seems to be mostly spared, I have only slight valve damage on two valves

I woke with a numb leg and went to the doctor who said take vitamins which i thought was ridiculous. Now 9 years later it's just clicked what happened. So lucky. There really needs to be better awareness about these things.

    Hello from New England. I have a question you may be able to shed light on. My cousin started developing paralysis five years ago. Doctors first suspected ALS, but now they feel is it some kind of toxicity that is environmentally caused. My cousin was in high tech in I.T.. I am sure he worked on production floors. Time is running out for him. Could it be mercury poisoning? I am looking in to see if doctors ran a profile for heavy metals.
    No tremors, but now complete paralysis from the neck down. Started out with atrophy that severely affected his motor coordination. His speech sounds like he had a stroke, but his mind is still sharp. Thank you for any suggestions. ~ Diane

    I was completely shocked to learn about the detrimental effects of nitrous oxide. I had always thought that if it's safe enough to give children at the dentist, it must be relatively benign and wouldn't cause any harm. When I learned that nitrous oxide is lipophilic and can do irreversible damage to the central nervous system, I was terrified because I'd been using a lot of it. I always took a b12 methylcobalamin tablet (or liquid) at a percentage rate of around 30,000 recommended daily allowance, so I think that shielded me somewhat, but I was using way too much nitrous (so I have learned). I don't use any now at all and I'm too terrified to ever try it again after seeing these videos.

    • @morgan4574
      @morgan4574 Год назад

      I have the autoimmune disease that causes B12 deficiency, Pernicious Anemia. The Antibodies involved can bind to the serum B12 testing agent, which causes a false elevation of the results. Homocysteine will typically only be even slightly elevated under extremely specific circumstances same as Methylmalonic Acid (MMA) that's why they are used alongside Serum B12 (because serum B12 isn't specific/accurate enough on it's own). The way to test for Pernicious Anemia specifically is also by testing Parietal Cell Antibodies and Intrinsic Factor Antibodies.

If you're going to do Nitrous oxide, don't do it often and please take Vitamin B12. B Vitamins are important!

    • @THEoldy
      @THEoldy 10 месяцев назад +3

      I've read that nitrous blocks B12 absorption, for a week or two. That's how it depletes B12, so supplements won't work. Taking supplements in the days leading up to a nitrous session is a plausible harm reduction, but the reality, wisdom, and common sense is there is no hack around the serious need to moderate this stuff.
      Add in the potential of developing a tolerance to B12 supplements, and you're playing silly games with things you don't understand.
      I'd say a couple sessions a year is probably safe. But for usage more than once a month, supplements will probably do fuck all.

    A study on patients undergoing sedation (including nitrous) found that pre-loading with METHIONINE actually reduced the time it took for the body to recover from the effects of N2O.
    In the control group (no methionine) their levels of methionine synthase had still not returned to normal after 7 days. However in the study group, their levels recovered within 5 to 7 days. 3 of the patients recovered to their previous levels, but four of the patients actually achieved HIGHER levels post-op, than they had prior to anesthesia.
    Amount used was 100mg per kg body weight. (So a pretty hefty dose)
    The study in question is:
    Preoperative methionine loading enhances restoration of the cobalamin-dependent enzyme methionine synthase after nitrous oxide anesthesia
    B Christensen et al. Anesthesiology. 1994 May.
    People will use drugs, often even if they're perfectly aware of the dangers. History has shown us this repeatedly. So knowing how to mitigate those risks and potentially reduce harm, is a very good thing.

    I've done this for years. Literally 1000s of hours over 15 years.Developed peripheral neuropathy briefly but began supplementing 6000 mcg sublingual B12 when I would use it and never have had a problem since then. Should clarify the peripheral neuropathy was within thr first year of use. I've seen conflicting representations in the literature about whether supplemental B12 should work. I do recall that if I started getting parasthesias administration of B12 would resolve it within a matter of minutes. Interestingly in the US, nitrous oxide is currently in stage II clinical trials for treatment-resistant depression (analogous to the use of ketamine infusions for the same)

      Yea, I've also done probably hundreds if not thousands of hours of nitrous oxide over the past several years at this point as well, and the key is to not use it continuously in a row. I also take B12 every single day already because I'm vegan, so it hasn't really been an issue for me. I don't think the message should be that nitrous oxide is evil and paralyzes you. That's the equivalent of saying that ibuprofen destroys your liver. It's all about drug education, and the way that people use things in moderation and splitting up your usage. Use as much as you want in one setting, but then put at least a week to two weeks in between sessions, and take B12 everyday, and you'll be great! 👍

    I did nitrous last night for about 5-10 mins and I'm completely lethargic today. I must have inhaled like 30-50 times from a tank. It ended up giving me a headache and slight nausea toward the end and I decided to call it quits. Just one time in the last 20 years and my heart feels like it's beating differently. Feeling foggy headed and have a lack of energy. Cognitive retardation also seems like it has occured. Could I have suffered a neurotoxic dose or some kind of permanent damage? I was holding the hit in also. Should I worry?. I'm sticking to weed and shrooms where there is no overdosing possible and have zero toxic effects on the body and brain. Anyways, was just for shits and giggles but I'm sending the tank back, Amazon takes anything back! Especially if it causes Paralysis!! Thanks Doc. Please let me know if this is just a hangover and that I didn't do serious damage...

All the previous videos i have watched and literature ive read did mention that it inactivates the b12 viamin and so my thinking was if i took b12 vitamin tablets for a few days before i used the nitrous oxide and have no natural defincientcy to B12 i should be fine.

    Thank you Dr. Veer; I'm close to 70 years old, had a stroke January 2020, and recently experimented with self-administered N2O cartridges to treat my chronic depression (since 1961). As I understand it, Dental gas therapy is legal in some places in the US; IF you can afford it. I can't. I thought most of the damage was done by the deficit of B-12 and hypoxia caused by breathing pure N20 (initially, part of my death with dignity contingency plan formulated in the hospital; should I suffer another stroke). Dental Gas is 50% N2O and 50% O2.
    Your explanation of the function of B-12 was very helpful.
    Unfortunately, Relying on social security income I can no longer afford even an occasional sufficient recreational amount 🎈😂

I called the ambulance a few days ago and they took her to the hospital but she was released the next day. I’m devastated. I visit her everyday but stay at the front door because her house smells of gas. I take her dog for a walk, and make sure she has food and water. But each time I go to my friend’s house I’m afraid she’ll have died or be unconscious. How do you help someone who just won’t stop inhaling gas? I believe she’s trying to kill herself, and I’m standing by watching her do it. It’s making me sick with worry over her.

    From an extremely experienced nitrous oxide, dissociatives, ketamine, psychedelics user. There are ways to prevent this. First off when you feel your extremities going numb move them. Take your socks off move your legs. Get up move around as long as your balance is working properly. Stop doing it for a bit. Breathing exercises will help re oxygenate your blood to help prevent some of the symptoms. Also a Super B-Complex will help with some of the harmful side effects afterwards. Hangover wise. And will quell the desire to keep doing it.
    Edit: 49 y/o use of nitrous for chronic pain because doctors don't care anymore whether or not you are an extreme pain constantly. They're more worried about their DEA license than anything. I've never had any type of overdose in 31 years. Know your source.
