@JJnS Farms what I find about sports like Downhill, freeride (& to some extent slope-style and 4x) , motocross and super cross is they’re all gnarly as f*** but the athletes wearing helmets kind of “dehumanises” them. By that I mean when watching the events and the riders have their full face helmet on, i forget that it’s a human being controlling the machine for a moment until I snap back in to reality. The helmet acts as a mask and takes away the human element until there’s a crash bad enough the athlete gets knocked out and their hole body goes limp and floppy or at the end of the run they take off their helmet. That’s when you realise that these are regular him and with feelings and fears just like the rest of us. What also sets our sport apart is that there is such a vast gap between amateur and professional, and that stands for not only skill, but fear too, or lack there of in the pro’s case. There is no other sport apart from maybe rallying where by your skill set may not be holding you back from progressing, but the “what if it goes wrong” is. And that makes our sport, I believe, truly special. And a bit nuts
French crowd are the best
That was an insane run, track looks long but him and his bike made quick use of it.
Such a shame none of the top three had a GoPro on, just boggling to think that this run was 5.4 seconds slower than Bruni's.
