i did all of these steps perfectly and my glass replacement still ended up with a tiny lip above the frame but still sellable and still great for my first time
I see a few videos replacing the back glass from iPhones X and they simply replace the glass without open or disconnecting anything, what's different with the XR?
@@MrGilgameshJR Yes I agree. I just simply explaining to the original commentor why he opened the device in the first place. I know that heat definitely is not good for the device, but I would like to point out that I have never had a device die to excessive heat.
This is not a good way to remove the back glass. He/she was applying heat directly in the area of the bronze flex cable. And using a sharp knife with a pointed edge could easily prick, or tear a flex cable assembly, or even dent and dig in to the frame. He/sh was using one hand to maneuver the heat gun, while using the other for the knife. Very odd. He/she may have succeeded in doing the job. But this method is absolutely not correct. It is better that you start from inside by removing everything that is glued and mounted on the frame. EVERYTHING, including the battery and the entire flex cable assembly underneath the battery and on the sides of the frame. Then you can have freedom to apply heat on the frame without worrying about damaging costly flex cables and other connectors. One last note, the bottom glass cover is strictly ornamental. Apple chose glass deliberately because it is brittle. One drop and It breaks. Apple also chose to stick it to the frame with formidable glue. It is the most time-consuming item to remove from the iPhone during complete teardown. Almost 80% of the time. Why? Because Apple does not want anyone else to repair its iPhones. Remember the iPhone 4 bottom glass cover? All you had to do is remove two screws near the data/power port and then you can slide it out. Apple could have done the same thing with the iPhone XR, which costs $1249 Canadian. Now, if a technician is going to bill you for 3 or 4 hours for replacing the glass, do not bitch. The work is very involved as you can tell from the video.
As u see this is not simple it need patience disconnect the batterie and wireless charge then put the hot air on 200/ 250 and Dont forget to wear glasses its better for your security
@@real4everh rt, I know. He removes all that but then puts the screen back on, puts heat tape on it and starts to heat up the phone. I'm still trying to figure out why he puts the screen back on instead of just leaving it off.

@@monkeyhugger yeah but there is no problem heating the motherboard, the battery though is heat sensitive We heat motherboard in order to solder/desolder chips

Not true. I did remove a back glass for an iPhone XR with no prior experience, just following this video and ordered the tools from Amazon for the operation. I was able to remove the broken factory back glass off and installed a new one. “BUT I DIDN’T REMOVE THE MOTHERBOARD” I used 300*C heat with 30% air. Didn’t heat the same place for too long, moved to a different place and continued switching places until it was all off, wireless charging and Face ID all worked afterwards. Look carefully at the glue line up after the glass was removed, that’s an Apple glue pattern and color and you see the black dotted tape on the edges of the housing after the glass was removed, before he scraped the glue off. That’s Apple back glass my friends.
You have to not do it very close to the plastic frame or else it will smell bad and that's also what happened on the first try when trying to fix a iphone 10
heat tape in order to absorb heat instead of going into the LCD and maybe burn it, but i do not understand why he didn't pull of the battery instead of the motherboard lol

Pretty much. Even with the heat gun you have to apply an extreme amount of heat to soften up the glue. That is why heat took the motherboard out, to protect it from the heat. I always take the motherboard and back cameras out as well.

It’s not really diy you need a special heat station that’ll usually run you over $100

What temperature did you use to do the job?
Did the components inside the device and screen work afterwards?
I'm learning, thanks! i'm from Brazil!
Eu recomendo deinar na temperatura de 150 a 170 graos mais nao pode deixar muito tempo em un canto sempre fica mexendo si nao pode expludir a bateria
How much do you charge for this ? I already bought the replacement glass for the back . I’ve just been scared to do it myself
How much was the charge ?
Where did you get the replacement? Mine dropped and people say they can’t hear but it works perfectly
Ask Andi if they can’t heard it’s not because of the back glass it’s most likely something internal
better watching this on MUTE "!!!
Why did you remove motherboard? Can it remain waterproof if you would have left LCD untouched?
Litynskyy Rostyslav I believe that as long as the waterproofing seal isn’t broken by removing the screen, the phone should remain water resistant.
Abraham Medina removing the screen breaks the seal? The screen is sealed to the shell of the back

Brianna Hester where did you go to get it done? Official Apple store or a local repair shop?

I paid 300 to get back and front done and another 50 to get battery replaced the only downside is the back won’t have the Apple logo

Because If you dont then the debris ends up on the edge of the adhesive the glass
