3 hour job... kinda exaggerated. But there are benefits to swapping the entire housing. Damages done to the aluminum frame will be included and will make the phone look new;(depending on the screen too) You can also change the color of your phone to any of the other options by swapping the housing. If you swap the glass only, the chances are high that it will not look perfect.

When I take pictures and videos with my back camera you can’t see it for some reason but when you look at the back of my phone it’s visible and obvious because it’s all white with loads of cracks. Yonatan Surujon I forgot to put in the part where I remove the lens frame from the frame that holds the lens. It is made to come out. If you watch when I’m gluing the pack glass on I have placed it back where it goes. It comes off kinda like the iPhone 8, 8+,X,XS, and XS Max. Same exact procedure for all 6 of the back glass iPhones.
Can you just buy a new frame with glass? I don’t see the benefit of doing it this way? If you have to take all the parts out of the phone anyway, what’s stopping you from just swapping the guts into a new frame.

No, just Adhesive. Apple just relies on the glue to make it water resistant. Besides gaskets under pressure let water in where Adhesive holds under more pressure

You cannot be serious. I remember this happened on my wife’s 4s, and it was literally a 30 sec repair. Remove the bottom 2 screws, slide the old panel out, slide in the new panel and rescrew screw the device. Apple gave everyone an FU on this repair.
this is why buying apple care is worth more then replacing the back glass yourself. if you buy apple care and shatter your back glass they just give you a whole NEW phone. because doing this replacement is annoying and time consuming and they don't want to pay for labor to have someone replace it when they can toss it and recycle it and give you a new phone. back glass is 399$ replacement if "possible" but 90% not possible. and screen replacement is 299$. so apple care for 200$ which could end up getting you a new phone is much more worth it. :)
Couldn’t you have taped the glass before trying to pop it I mean I know why you didn’t for video sake so you could show how “fun” it is to clean crap tons of shards as you put it
The Home Cinema Engineer the amount of heat needed to melt the adhesive would melt and burn anything left in phone. There are other methods I use that don’t require the whole phone to come apart, but the machines needed are extremely expensive compared to the tool I use in this video
You can just take the little metal bezel from around the camera to fit the new glass, so you don’t have to knock the whole lens off and glue it back on! Ps still a great vid though.

You really don't have to remove everything. You can peel off the glass using heat and a pry tool then carefully glue the glass on

AMAtv Larreta No, because the adhesive won’t be completely water tight. Apple uses a custom gasket to prevent water from getting through.
