I just want to say thank you for your review. I noticed that you do reply to questions below which is amazing because not too many RUclipsrs have been replying to people at all. Good show brother. 👏👏👏
It's quite a chore to reply to every comment, especially if the channel has been around a while and you're getting thousands of comments coming in. Trying to run a RUclips channel is hard enough just in coming up with content recording, editing, and posting without having to constantly be replying to comments which is a 24/7 job. So I understand why a lot of youtubers don't do it. I try to keep an eye on the comments coming in within 24 hours of posting a video and trying to handle most of the questions there, but some of my older videos have a lot of unanswered questions in the comments section.
I have the tangem wallet. I moved all crypto from ledger to it once their backdoor vulnerability was exposed. It's pretty simple, spread out your password protected 3 cards so all of them will never be lost. Therefore, your crypto will never be lost. It's the same difference with seed phrases. You write it down multiple times and hide it in different places. Same gig, different format.
Yea but I could write seed phrase more then 3 times. While the tangem wallet its only 3 cards and what happens if u lose the 3 cards or what if the cards malfunction because tech could get damaged thru time or something electrical. I wish they made a card that still gives you the seed phrase as extra backup. If anyone's knows of a card that does that let me know. Like if you have a trezor or ledger if the device gets damaged you could buy another one and put seed phrase but what if the cards damaged? You fucked. They should have something in the app to recover by putting in a 10 pin backup plus 3 questions and email. I dont something 🤷🏽♂️
Love my Tangem. Keep one in my wallet, one at home and one in safe deposit. If you somehow manage to lose 2 of them you could just buy another set of three and transfer to those.
Thank you Sir. I like my Tangem wallet with three cards after Celsius melt down I had to learn to be more safe learn to diversity more then one wallet I learn so much from you keep up the great job and have a good day
Good review. As for the B for functionality I disagree because if you lose your trezor or it breaks you would need to purchase a new one at $200+ whereas if you keep all your cards in separate locations even if you lost 1 of the three and wanted to play it safe you could buy another set of 3 cards transfer your crypto and still be way ahead in terms of cost.
Yeah but an EMP will probably take out your phone probably, so now you still have to find a signal somewhere, and a working phone or internet right, well that's different then, never mind :) ?@@CryptoDad

I believe Tangem wallet is dangerous. There is a video online of a guys' Tangem wallet not scanning after keeping in his wallet. He did have 2 other backups, but what if you lose it all or they all malfunction? Maybe Tangem is good for like a couple hundred dollars only.
I had not heard about this. But I forgot to mention that Tangem wallets cannot be exported to other platforms, while 12/24 word seed phrase backups can be exported /imported to many different wallets.
Great review. So the only real downside of Tangem is the possibility of losing all 3 cards. If you were to lose all 3 cards then you have other problems in life. Thx Rex.
@@CryptoDadI'm curious - but please correct me if I'm wrong, if you had to lose two of the cards, can you then buy a new two card package, then reset the remaining card, (if that can be done,) and use the two new cards as backup with the remaining card during a reset. Got Tangem and love it but not a big fan of doing crypto on my phone. Was wondering if a USB type of device could be developed by Tangem that reads NFC and can be plugged into your desktop allowing the app on your phone to show on your desktop. Not sure of the downside to this.
Wondering about that myself. I would think that some laptops might include nfc functionality. Or perhaps, like you said, there might be an external adapter available for nfc signals.
I did a review of D'Cent Safely Migrate Crypto Assets from Ledger Nano X to D'CENT Biometric Wallet | Ultimate Guide: ruclips.net/video/PakQ1f4mtvI/видео.html
Tangem app has a new version of their wallet that has a seed phrase, backup option. That would cover the scenario if the company goes out of business. The back phrase is compatible with multiple other wallets.
Not really. Because it's using the NFC signal. So there is information traveling back and forth just like Bluetooth. This is of course, encrypted traffic and is totally safe. However, air-gapped wallets generally involve scanning QR codes between devices. Like Ellipal and Keystone Pro
Once you have set up the cards, it requires a passcode. This is from their website: If the Tangem Wallet card is stolen, can a third party gain access to the wallet? A third party will only be able to access your wallet if your cards are not linked (you have not backed them up). In this case, access code protection is not available: it is activated only when you link two or three cards to one wallet. That's why we recommend that you make backups before funding your wallet, ensuring that your funds are protected by the access code. Moreover, the card will be protected against brute-force attacks. After the sixth incorrect attempt to enter the code, the delay time for the next attempt is increased by 1 second. The maximum delay time is 45 seconds. The delay is only reset after the access code has been successfully entered.
It is very interesting how it works. Suffice it to say it all occurs during setup, so you can't add more cards later. and the process only supports up the three cards. from the support page: How many cards can be in a backup of one wallet? The maximum number of cards that can be used as a backup is 3. Is there a difference between "primary" and "backup" cards? All of the cards from the backup are equal to each other and have access to the same wallet. Why is it possible to link backup cards only once? For security reasons, backup creation and private key cloning can only be done once. You should therefore be sure of the number of copies of your private key you want to create. As the cards operate without using the company's servers, the cards know nothing about each other. It is only when creating a backup that the private key is copied to the number of cards you have chosen (2 or 3). If backup cards could be linked on multiple occasions, an attacker could make copies of your card without your knowledge.

For me, we should not give Tangem an A on security. It is too new. It takes years of track record to shake out vulnerabilities and back doors. I want to love it, but it needs more time in the wild. Remember issues with other hardware wallets in last few years.
Duly noted noted. Probably not best practice to dump your entire mother load onto a Tangem card. However, it could be used for small amounts of working crypto that you want to manage on the go.
Having no backup phrase is an absolute deal breaker for me! I wish everyone the best of luck that own a Tangem wallet. But there is NO WAY I'm going to force myself to keep up with a physical wallet. I love having money stored on the blockchain behind seed phrases.
I totally get that. And that is why I think many people would still choose the Trezor T (Other hardware wallet that has a backup phrase) over the Tangent wallet. Even though the Tangem wallet is cheaper and easier to use. That backup flexibility is very important!
Cryptodad forgot to mention the Tangem also has a password you need to use it with, so if someone finds a card you have they still cannot get your funds, unlike that seed you have written down and constantly worry about it been found or you download a fake app and put in your seed only to realize the app from google play store was a fake app, Tangen would have protected you.
I got a ledger nano x and just got the Tangem. Big delay presumably due to demand. Postage was very slow like 4 or 5 weeks. Prefer the Tangem. Trying to figure out how to sell the crypto back to my bank account, not for now but for a year or two away.
If you are trying to cash out your crypto, the best way is to transfer that crypto to a reputable exchange like Coinbase or Kraken. And trade for US dollar. From there you can cash out to your connected bank accounts.
Yes, they just let me know they'll be shipping one out to me within the week! I'm excited to test it out. And I'll post a unboxing and set up video soon.
Tangem would be perfect to use as a daily spend wallet. However, using this out in public would subject you to a wrench attack from anywhere. So carrying your lifes savings around on your person isnt a good idea.
For tangem, since the private key is on the card itself, if someone steals the card or scans the card through your back pocket then they have your private keys. Not very secure. Additionally, the MFG creates the secret key before shipping, so they could always keep a copy of that, you are trusting that they don't do that, which is a big risk.
I don't mean to be rude, but both of those statements are patently false. No one can scan your Tangem card from your back pocket. That's not the way the card works. Once you've set it up, it requires a passcode to be ported onto a new device. Also, the card is initialized when you first set it up. They don't pre install private keys. They are generated randomly when you initialize the device. These issues are addressed in detail in their security FAQ: tangem.com/en/help_center/security/#a5727554846237
@@CryptoDad I looked into this earlier with Tangem regarding loosing a phone and was told that I can simply re-sync my new phone to the card without any difficulty on my part. This means that any phone, regardless of the phone owner, can sync to that card. It's not up for debate, it's a fact.
