Thanks for taking the time to post this! I searched for almost two hrs to find what the wiring connections are for the two wires nearest the door (mirror auto-dimming connector?). Green goes toward the inner side of the mirror, and black goes to the outer side. Could not beleive how difficult it was to find this info! Some idiot hit my truck and knocked the glass out of the mirror, snapping the mirror motor in half. At least the motor replacement was cheaper (1/3 the cost of the mirror glass), than the glass, which did not break.
It's listed in the video description but We ordered it from Amazon here: Canada: Dorman 56108 Driver Side Plastic Backed Heated/Auto-Dim Mirror Glass - amzn.to/3eQg0Q4 USA: Dorman 56108 Driver Side Plastic Backed Heated/Auto-Dim Mirror Glass - amzn.to/2Ryqxpf
The glass in your video definitely has the auto dim plug, however the the one you posted link to on amazon does not have this hardware and is not auto dimming. Im am trying to find one with auto dimming
Thank you! This helped a lot. But question? This mirror also came with the cable too or just the two metal clips things on it? Cause the image on amazon only shows the clips for the corroded wires you pulled out but not the black wire you plugged in last. Did you buy that wire separate ?
Betzabel G Garcia my son says that the wire didn’t come with it but he transferred the old wire to the new mirror but he used gorilla glue so it will stay there
@@LivingtheNorthernLife yeah. I think the backing was a mismatch. It did not grab. So I am going to buy the whole unit. Thought this would be a way to save some money.
Replacing the whole mirror is way easier, prying on glass is a great way to break it, it’s not worth struggling with if you just break it in the end and have broken glass everywhere.
The lens is plastic and won’t shatter. It’s worth about $40-50 i think. The whole mirror would require taking the door panel off and cost hundreds of dollars. Am i miss understanding what you commented? Thanks Andrew
I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment. It was my sons first kick at this by himself and I think he didn't do to bad but feedback is good.
Good real life video! Showed how to put it on and realistically what will happen! Best one I’ve seen buddy!
Thank you!
Andrew

Is the green and black wire the same for the passenger side?
Black outside green inside?
not sure, we've never taken the passenger side apart.
That was a little painful. But thx. Keep truckin
I wanted my son to wait for me but he insisted on doing it himself. it's an old truck and he has to learn... sometimes the hard way :(
Make sure the vapor barrier is sealed around your bolts. The doors will leak.
Thanks for the reminder!
Andrew
Thank you
You're welcome

Ever so often fold your mirrors in and out a couple times.
I broke the sheet out of the new one

Geez... I wanted to watch this, but that friggin' noisy music, and you not telling me what the hell you are trying to do made me type this, and leave.
I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment.
