Sounds like it's probably just a simple sine wave (or one of the other basic NES-style synth sounds). The most basic sound a synth can produce.

It is the sine wave of FF7.

@@Fuchsia_tude that must be, at first i thought it could be some kind of Chromatic percussion, but i think there's no instrument that sounds like that.
