    I got a 2017 Awd Limited, and I'm in love with this car. There are no complaints here, not yet at least. My grandfather had an xle he let me use when he stopped driving, that's why I ended up getting one for myself, great cars, though..

      I’m on the fence of trying to get a 2018 or 2022+. I love that the 2018 and under are a bit smaller and look more fun. I want to put rally looking wheels and all terrain tires to make it look for sporty and for winter driving a bit better. Not sure where to go but it’s fun to see everyone’s reviews for these great cars

    I agree with you. I’m in Las Vegas and I have a 2016 RAV4 XLE. My gas mileage is decent being just driving in town. Interior could be better with some leather or faux leather if need be. AC is good, just put on some ceramic tint to reflect heat in the summer. Best part about this car for me is the maintenance. Easy to maintain, oil change is about $35 DIY. Alternator, water pump, starter is all easy to get to if needed replacement. Also, there’s a lot of old RAV4’s in Vegas and it shows the reliability and longevity of the vehicle. So whatever you paid for your RAV4, I’m sure you’ll get your money’s worth and then some. Some of the best things doesn’t shine like glitter, instead, it’ll live up to your expectations and always keep you on the move. Now that to me is money well spent.

    I have a 2018 Rav4 XLE. I drove to Montana from SoCal and got 32 mpg no higher no lower. Hills, mountains accelerating on to freeway, around town in Eco only 19/20. This particular vehicle has lots of safety features...but the one I will always get now is the Rear cross traffic alert that beeps and flashes blind spot monitors when anything is approaching from the left or right. Grateful many times in parking lots.
    Sounds like you didn't research your vehicle before you bought. I got this because of the reliability and practically all the mechanics I talked to said that particular engine is pretty much bulletproof.😎

    IMO, the issues you pointed out are pretty specific to you and your unique preferences. Most people really don't care about the key. I would even go as far as to say I think a lot of people don't like the flip-out design either. I can say that I for one do not like push to start since it feels less secure to me.

    • @SchwayZ
      @SchwayZ  4 года назад +3

      I agree that there are personal preferences but at the same time it's not about personal preferences its about what the competition offers. A lot of other comeptitors do not have keys, they have push to start and keyless entry.

    Just an advice : stay away from model years '13 to '15 , the spring & shock rate make every ride very unpleasant & will take your tooth fillings off . For those who complain about the bad mpg : it's preferable to have a reliable drivetrain than have expensive repair from a cvt or removing carbon build up from a Gdi engine . Good old 6 speed tranny and simple Efi engine is the way to go . Even the new 8 speed in '18 & up model have some software issues

    With mine, close to 90, 000 kms, the lights have moisture in them, specially the headlights. Also, note to self, NEVER change the interior lights again....since plastic, plastic....and.....yes....plastic!.....breaks easily 😢.....so much for my nice 2018 RAV LE. I also saw rust happening on the top, front part, of the hood.
    BUT, I had A LOT of great news about how comfy the rear seats are, the folks actually fell asleep well! 😂😂😂😂
    Cargo room.....is/was the BEST for this class of SUV.
    That little blind spot mirror is great....I have both as well.
    The parking is better with the reverse cam, however when the light hits the small screen it is not good.
    Winter time.....the car is like "WTF
    is snow??" 😂 I LOVE the AWD
    The sport mode really helps from a red light, to get into the other lane.
    Having from adaptive cruise control, to lane assistance, is great to.

    • @SchwayZ

      @SchwayZ  2 года назад

      @@foodreview3187 I see what the difference is now. So the third option is a CVT transmission. It's just a different type of automatic. It doesn't have gears, it just uses a pulley system that will change the gear ratios. The 2nd option is just a traditional automatic. The cvt is usually more fuel efficient but not as fun to drive.

    • @SchwayZ
      @SchwayZ  2 года назад

      @@foodreview3187 so actually the "manual" transmission is where you shift gears yourself. Subaru does have manual transmissions on some of its vehicles. The difference between the 2 AWD options for Toyota is that one AWD option is automatic with a traditional automatic transmission that has gears that it shifts automatically and the 2nd AWD is a CVT automatic transmission where it doesn't actually have gears. Whenever you see "standard" or "manual" transmission you can assume that you will have to shift gears yourself. I know it can be confusing

    Interesting video. My 2018 LE gets about 28 to 32mpg, in town! No exageration, it really does. On the highway the max I have ever seen was 36.2mpg. I drive with a light foot and always use the eco light for my acceleration. If I use sport mode my mpg drops down to about 24mpg in town and about 30mpg on the highway. Your elevation may have some effect on your gas mileage. A surprising feature I discovered is the fuel vapor recovery system...one night I walked past my RAV4 and heard an electric motor running underneath the car. Fearing some kind of malfunction I took it to the Toyota dealership the next day. The technician chuckled and said not to worry, it is the fuel vapor recovery system working. Whew, that's a relief! Another annoying feature of this vehicle is the brake system...if I do not drive it every day, the brakes kind of make a scraping noise until the calipers warm up. I took the car to the dealership and my personal auto tech. They both told me that there is nothing wrong with the brakes...as long as they don't seize up, not to worry. I love my RAV4. I wore out my 2004 CRV(over 247,000 miles) and sold it privately. I still see it running around town. Thanks for this video.

    I also hate the small gas tank and the lack of power. My 2018 XLE started getting about 18-21mpg, though after 10K it increased to about 22-23. Now, at 18K, I'm getting 24mpg consistently. Not sure why it's taken so long to get that, and why it's so far off from the advertised mpg. My G37s Convertible got about 20mpg and was a LOT faster! I also hate the hard plastic and the outdated entertainment options. I turned off the lane departure warning because the beeping drove me crazy. I also hate that the stupid cruise control requires the camera to use. If the camera by the rear-view mirror gets occluded by dirt or snow (or even the Sun in the morning/evening!), the cruise stops working. I replaced the rear-view mirror with a frameless version that has the built-in Homelink transmitter for the garage door. Other than that, I like the RAV4. My dealer added aftermarket heated & leather seats that match the dash, so it looks nicer. I added about $4K in amplifiers and speakers and it's now a nice place to spend time.

      Yeah I hear ya man! Nice that you were able to get the leather seats and speakers to make it a better ride. Hello , I am in desperate need help in clearing a doubt I had in my rav4, I thought you could probably know the answer to my question...so to begin I don’t live in the states, so the RAV4 I have is not the same as yours, we get the 2.0L version in my country. So I thought that the difference was only in the engine but a few days ago I ordered a replacement rear view mirror from the USA bc it was cheaper to bring and install than to take it to the dealer but when they installed it I realized that it was much smaller than the other one and now it looks asymmetric, one side with a bigger mirror than the other, so I was wondering two things, is it possible that the American version rav4 has smaller mirrors than the 2.0L ones or did I just get scammed and got an unoriginal toyota piece on Amazon?? If they are smaller I think I’ll just order the left side from the states as well so it doesn’t look bad, if you think I got scammed with a smaller unoriginal mirror I guess I’ll have to spend the extra buck on a dealer mirror 😕 thanks hope you could help (mines is the 2018 model btw, the mirror I bought supposedly fit all models from 2013-2018, but I’m guessing only American versions?)

    Wow! I really enjoyed your video. I got in a jam with COVID needing a car, so, I had to compromise with the shortage of choice. Wound up with a late 2018 RAV4 Limited. that I bought with about 28,000 miles 1-owner coming off a lease. I love a few things and hate a lot that I could not determine accurately until I purchased it. Sucks. I don't know what to do about it. Would be a loss to sell it, but, I'm very frustrated with this Toyota and I've been buying Toyotas for years. Only good thing is based on Toyota reliability reputation, I should get years of trouble free driving out of it, but, I'd still like to get rid of it, if I could, without taking a large financial loss.
    I had a 2016 Camry that had a better speedometer! I still can't believe that there is a digital part to this 2018 Rav4 speedometer without a digital speed part while you are driving to the speedometer in a 2018 when my 2016 Camry and some earlier models than that already had a digital speedometer and this is not an LE base model, either. It has leather seats, etc. It's a Limited! Apparently only some LImited models that year added the digital speed part to the speedometer. You are 100% right on about the gas mileage. Very deceptive. 4-cylinder? It gets worse mileage than a 2006 All-Wheel Drive Highlander that I had, at one time. Horrible.
    Further, I experimented with the ECO mode, regular mode and sport modes. THERE IS VIRTUALLY NO DIFFERENCE IN GAS MILEAGE USING ECO MODE. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THAT THE PICKUP AND PERFORMANCE ARE VERY POOR IN COMPARISON!! I don't use SPORT very often, but, it is a much improved ride for pleasure when I leave the ECO mode off. It has absolutely no impact in regular driving on the gasoline mileage. Just dumbs down the pickup and perrformance.
    Exactly what you said. I have to fill up the gas tank every 250 miles, it starts getting low. Cost of gas aside, this is very very annoying and disruptive, at times, when you get busy during the week and you have to do something and you are in a rush and you have to stop to fill it up. Best I've ever done on a tank is about 23mpg and a complete fillup does not even make 300 miles.
    Early 2018 Rav4 Limiteds included a CD player with the Entune JBL Premium Entertainment system. This model stripped the CD out of there which is incredibly strange since they used an entirely different Entune radio in the 2019 RAV4s. So, a late model 2018 should have had the CD part like the earlier models that year even if CD's were discontinued from the radios, I have a late year 2018 model. Sucks.
    They had a 2019 model LE on the lot that I could have chosen over this 2018, but, the 2019 LE had this awful bare bones entertainment system that did not even have an option for satellite radio. The loaded 2018 Limited missing the CD, at least had a built in satellite radio and navigation. I asked the dealer if I could buy an upgraded radio and they said it was impossible and I even asked if I could add a speedometer that had a digital speed like in some of the other Limited models in 2018 and the newer 2019 models and the dealer said it would not be compatible with the way it was built by Toyota at the factory regardless of my out of pocket willingness to pay for it. So, I'm stuck.
    The digital speed in the face is something I got used to for several years , like I said with my Camry, etc. JUST DISGUSTING to see how Toyota started thinking. Again, if I had picked the 2019, I could not even upgrade that radio to unlock the features at additional cost if I bought the 2019 LE, like to add a built-in satellite radio. You buy the LE and you are stuck with a bare bones radio and a low end audio system.
    Anyway, found everything you said in your review to be 100% accurate of my experience with my Limited, but, I wanted to put my 2-cents in at my disgust with the 2018 RAV4 Limited and the stupid thought pattern at Toyota after always having confidence and appreciation for their engineering decisions through the years in other Toyotas that I've owned. What also weighed in my decision to go with the 2018 over the newer but more base model 2019 was the reviews stating that there were minor issues with the transmission in the newer 8-step transmision they introduced in 2019. So, I chose the 2018. But, every day, I wish I wasn't in a hurry and a bind needing to buy a car on short notice in a panicked car shortage and overpriced car market. I feel stuck with this car and what irritates me about it with few options to move on from this vehicle without a financial loss. But, I am reminded about it every time I drive it.
