Ok...this was wayyyy better than Camel Trophy!!!Children, women, trailers, difficult terrain...yes for sure better than camel trophy...which now seems to me as a tour!
Great vid guys, you really are tough boys and girls =) Going old Tele track without a lift, snorkel and (what it looks like on the Paj) highway tires towing a trailer! Wow! I'd love to travel with you guys one day! =)
well done guys,,hope you enjoyed yourself,,all those cars are more then good enough to do the cape,,but the Pajero deserves a clap,,stock as and no snorkle, thats a bit silly but the tarp helps. its my back yard hahaha im from weipa,,i go up here on the weekends sometimes.
im so jealous you guys can get all those rigs with diesels! america needs to get with the small suv/truck diesel program stat! haha great video wish i could come wheeling with you guys
@TattooBull You obviously have never done any four wheel driving. Without the blue tarp, when doing water crossings, the force of the water going through the front grill can break the fins off the fans, it has nothing to do with keeping the engine dry.
Good video mate. You guys were obviously enjoying yourselves and having fun. We had the same sort of fun on our recent trip. I guess you learned a thing or two on the trip and I guess you will have someone else on the camera (although they did a good job with the video) or keep the noisy ones a bit further away from the camera. It really did spoil the watching. Cheers.
@TattooBull The tarp was only used when doing water crossings then removed. At the time of making the trip there was no snorkel available for my vehicle. Thanks for the tips though.
@austcro75 the pajero was fine and did everything easy without the trailer. It was just the length of the trailer and the clearance at the ball that made it difficult at times. But that is what made it fun.
@mk1oz Tried everything to get a snorkel prior to the trip. At that time there was not a snorkel made for that model Pajero. Had a great time anyway. Cheers
Looks like the Pajero needs a bit of lift, would make it much easier getting up those steep banks. Did u also air down? Just it doesn't look like it from my armchair.
U Aussies are crazy!!! That's hella funny, I thought u folks were all about rooftop tents ??? " honey I'm taking the new trailer out this weekend, don't worry I won't put a scratch in it!!!" lmao
You running lockers at all on the Pajero? Looks like only traction control. The Pajero is very underrated for off road! Awesome cars no matter what all the lounge chair four wheel drivers say!
when your off-roading, the engine has to work twice as hard to get the 4x4 over rocks ,mud ,up hills ,and what ever else is in the way. This means the engine puts off twice the heat !! On top of having twice the heat ,you driving slower then you would on the road so that means less air flowing through the radiator to cool it back off. Thats why real 4x4 people hard wire the fan to a switch ,so they can leave it run while off-roading. BUT he blocked all air flow ,so why wouldn't it overheat ?
Great video mates! But I'll have to stick to my 1991 Toyota FJ80, you cant get the Land Cruisers like the one you have in the states, we have a version here thats a fancy ride for doctors and their wives to go shopping in. Thank god Toyota still makes real landcruisers for the rest of the planet. Cheers, mate!
The tarp is a no brainer if you dont have a snorkel, whats the good of a cool running engine if you suck water into it and destroy it, Running a bit warmer for 5 mins versus ingesting water into a diesel, you do the math.
I said I have been off-oading for YEARS (NOT JUST OWENED A 4X4. MAN YOU CAN'T READ). and just for the record , you can over heat sitting still (so you comment about going 10kph doesn't really make any sense !!!). the engine is water cooled. that water goes through the radiator where air blows through it to cool it down (every car is like this ,and it has nothing to do with off-roading). SO if you block the air from the radiator ,it can't cool down the engine ... there for you over heat !!!!!
I really enjoyed watching this & bugger all those other turnouts criticising the womens commentary, I thought it was great to see everyone enjoying themselves & listening to the laughing, well done.
Mate, hundreds of people do this track every year with trailers, they are very common on the Cape roads and tracks. Have a look at some of the other Cape video's and you will see them everywhere. Calling this person an idiot for being a bit adventurous is like calling Captain Cook an idiot for discovering Australia. Out of curiosity, Have you EVER done any Off Road driving???????.
That Pajero was seriously unequipped... I mean a tarp? Come on mate a snorkel is so cheap you can DIY it to save even more. And it looked like it had road tyres on
That screaming woman, who always seem to be near the camera, needs a silencer, then she has the nerve to tell the kid to shut up. But love the vid and the scenery.
Very lucky not to kill the Pajero with the depth of the water and no snorkel, also by the looks of things it is only running Highway terrain tires. I would not attempt the Cape without at least All terrains and a much better prepared vehicle.
Ive hit mute over music on youtube Videos but not a woman that likes too scream into the camera. well Good job getting through the trails you guys!! I wouldn't go through the trouble For my girlfriend on that one.
I have been in deeper water then that with my Jeep ,and didn't need a tarp ... all I was trying to do was help the guy out a little .... but if every one wants to call me name for it , I don't really care !!! ... I guess you think it is going to hurt my feelings .. lol ... most of the people talking shit about my comment , prob. don't even own a Jeep ... I got the videos to prove I have had my Jeep in way deeper water and with no tarp ... so all of u that never owned a jeep , keep talking shit !
Next time you record please have a bloke behind the camera! The women screaming is ear pearcing! apart from the screaming, great work and great footage!
omg, i just read every comment!!, good on ya mate for haveing a go even if it was in a pajero, i also would have put a tarp over the front if i didnt have a snorkell on my 80 seires, great vid all i can say, is thank god for the mute button and my collection of music, my ears were bleeding after the first 2minutes, and as for that idiot jeep driver Tattooded Tool!! woops i mean Bull LOL, What a Knob Head!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
putting the blue tarp over the front of your 4x4 like that , is really really dumb ...... no air can get in to cool off the motor .... you don't want to over heat ,and blow a hose out there on the trails .... when your on the trails , you drive slower then on the road ... so there is already less air flowing in , and the water still gets up in where you was trying to stop it from going .... that tarp did nothing for you truck ,other then make it run hot !!!!
@adam3916grant .. wow no you didn't tell me I never done any four wheeling (go look at my videos.. I have done way more off-roading then this guy).. and yes the force of the water will break the fan blades ( IF YOU DRIVE FAST LIKE THEY DID).. BUT A REAL OFF-ROAD DRIVER KNOWS YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO FAST.. just crawl through ,and if your 4x4 is tough enough it will WALK right out . I never went fast through deep water , and I put my Jeep in way deeper then he did !!!!!! SO DON'T TRY TO TELL ME !!!!
I still can't believe that so many people are talking shit about my comment ... I was trying to help the guy out ... the tarp can and will cause over heating ... thats all I said ... and to any one who thinks I do not know anything about off-roading ... go look at all my off-road video before you say idk about off-roading ... the main ones talking shit about me , probably have never even owened a 4x4 !!! ... I have been into off-roading for years ,and have nothing to prove to the idiots on here!
.There is nothing more rewarding than an adventure on a weekend like this one. Greetings from SCZ- Bolivia
The mighty 80 series Landcruiser. Doing it easy with no fuss. A true 4x4
They use it for water crossings. The reason being, is that the rushing water damages the radiator 'fins' (they bend easy).
U guys had balls trying that one with that camper trailer.... Especially with what looks like standard road tyres on the car.
yeh maybe the tarp wasn't the best idea looking back but i still give you full credit. you gave it all a good shot, had a great time. Fantastic effort
@1;51 annoying mum telling kid to be quiet...priceless!
well im now thinking of getting a goldsteam it looks more then capable thanks for sharing.
Ok...this was wayyyy better than Camel Trophy!!!Children, women, trailers, difficult terrain...yes for sure better than camel trophy...which now seems to me as a tour!

Wow , great video .... Just had to mute it , the high pitch scream had my dogs going nuts .....
@1991Timmo ... yes you are , thanks for sharing ...
At times like this, is when I wish music was added through the screaming bits
Good thing you guys brought that Toyota! ;D Great videos, thanks for sharing...
im so jealous you guys can get all those rigs with diesels! america needs to get with the small suv/truck diesel program stat! haha great video wish i could come wheeling with you guys

well done,u did vary well towing trailers up those tracks, good vidio ;)
@mk1oz Tried everything to get a snorkel prior to the trip. At that time there was not a snorkel made for that model Pajero. Had a great time anyway. Cheers
@keltingr lol I'm used to driving older vehicles but idk that still seems like a bad thing to do for cooling purposes.
I loved the cheering by the ladies and the kids :)
Looks like the Pajero needs a bit of lift, would make it much easier getting up those steep banks. Did u also air down? Just it doesn't look like it from my armchair.

I watched with the sound off and my wife complaining to me. Much more pleasant.
The best part is the wife's commentary
Great video! Wish I was there!
After driving this track like 500 times I think Im ready for my ps !
Take the Battlecamp road into Cooktown. half is straight and uninteresting but the last bit is worth an optic.
Good you gave it a go mate

I have to ask. Why the tarp on im guessing thats a nissan? I know thats not going to do good with the cooling.
@dguppy21 - right! Annoying! The track is great, the cars are perfect!
How did the Goldstream cope with that terrain? Did your waterproofing work?
The landcruiser has diff locks? while the pajero has none?
good times!!! thaks for the video!!
If you air down the tires - and bring a compressor to air back up later - you might have gotten through all of it without help.
you should try going faster into the creek crossing maybe then you will make it through
Great video mates! love it. keep it up. good luck
So , have you traded that for a land cruiser yet?
The Screaming fucks me up too!!!
That does not stop water from getting in...
cool idea on the tarp! :) but other than that, the vehicle being bone stock kinda held ya back
Just wondering wether that pajero was stock standard height? I have the same model and curious if it made it through with much damage?
I said I have been off-oading for YEARS (NOT JUST OWENED A 4X4. who brought the Hyaenas along the trip
the tarp protected the fans ya noob
I really enjoyed watching this & bugger all those other turnouts criticising the womens commentary, I thought it was great to see everyone enjoying themselves & listening to the laughing, well done.

Does it not have low range ?
That Pajero was seriously unequipped... I mean a tarp? Come on mate a snorkel is so cheap you can DIY it to save even more. And it looked like it had road tyres on
whats that blue tarp for?
prob need some offroad tyres and a lift kit on the pajero so it doesnt get stuck every 30 metres
Exactly my thought too :)
I want to know should i get a pajero or a prado
That screaming woman, who always seem to be near the camera, needs a silencer, then she has the nerve to tell the kid to shut up. But love the vid and the scenery.
enjoyed it.you only live once
I got to about the three minute mark.....had to turn down the volume. OMG..... I salute you. I would have left her up the Cape.
yeh mate you gotta get those sheilas to stand out the bloody water and quit yellin'
LOL obviously you all had great fun and great vids!
What's with the mysogyny?
Brand new Pajero, get it nice and dirty mate!
That woman is very, very annoying. Thank God I could put this on mute, great video other than the screamer!
snorkel ?
Very lucky not to kill the Pajero with the depth of the water and no snorkel, also by the looks of things it is only running Highway terrain tires. I would not attempt the Cape without at least All terrains and a much better prepared vehicle.
why wouldn't you invest in a snorkel if you were taking up that many water crossings regardless of tarp use
5 mins 38 seconds... "Mum, why are you talking to yourself?"!!
awesome ... def on my to do list ...some day =)
Ive hit mute over music on youtube Videos but not a woman that likes too scream into the camera. well Good job getting through the trails you guys!! I wouldn't go through the trouble For my girlfriend on that one.
I had to watch it on mute due to the screamer! haha
Pajero can do the trick! ; )
I have been in deeper water then that with my Jeep ,and didn't need a tarp ... all I was trying to do was help the guy out a little .... but if every one wants to call me name for it , I don't really care !!! ... @cbayldon mate your doing the right thing...some people think they knows lots when they dont haha
i dont think you really have any idea why they do this do you?
Next time you record please have a bloke behind the camera! The women screaming is ear pearcing! apart from the screaming, great work and great footage!
@Palazzolo88 you think the same thing as me bud she was so grrrrrr anoying with her screeming
you schould look for a UNIMOG or something
I would have watched the video, but then I heard laughing hyenas and stopped.
Pajie needed some real tyres.
Yes the screaming ladie, I'm sorry for the poor husband, but great adventure
omg, i just read every comment!!, good on ya mate for haveing a go even if it was in a pajero, i also would have put a tarp over the front if i didnt have a snorkell on my 80 seires, great vid all i can say, is thank god for the mute button and my collection of music, my ears were bleeding after the first 2minutes, and as for that idiot jeep driver Tattooded Tool!! woops i mean Bull LOL, What a Knob Head!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now I know why he made her get out and film....so he didn't have to listen to her in the truck!
she wouldn't get invited back on the next trip. thats if they didn't bury her deep in the forest
I cringed when I seen all the twists in the snatch strap
putting the blue tarp over the front of your 4x4 like that , is really really dumb ...... no air can get in to cool off the motor .... you don't want to over heat ,and blow a hose out there on the trails .... when your on the trails , you drive slower then on the road ... so there is already less air flowing in , and the water still gets up in where you was trying to stop it from going .... that tarp did nothing for you truck ,other then make it run hot !!!!
you would have to stay at home with that helpfull hint
@adam3916grant .. wow no you didn't tell me I never done any four wheeling (go look at my videos..
