Ex-PanAm Dash-8 standard cab!! And 2 MACs! CSX M603 thru Callahan 1/20/2025 3:18 PM

Yaaahhooooo!!!! I will almost certainly NEVER see another one of these! Fantastic lashup, and some great rolling stock!
First released in 1989, the General Electric Dash 8-40C was the original version of the classic Dash-8, and the last standard cab model of the line. It had 4,000 HP and 6 axles, and was very well loved for long range freight…until GE introduced their first ever safety cabs in the Dash 8-40CW (and Santa Fe-only Dash 8-40BW), which quickly became more desirable and iconic than the standard cab version.
7595 was originally built for CSX, and still wears evidence of its YN2 scheme. However, it was eventually sold to the Pan Am Railways (formerly Guilford Railroad, or Maine Central), which gave it the blue nose and tried to remove the yellow from the end. A couple years ago, CSX bought Pan Am, returning a couple dozen or so ex-CSX Dash-8 series locomotives back to CSX, including 7595. Most of these have been either scrapped or retired, even though they could be rebuilt for new purposes, like has been done to the EMD SD40-series on the roster.
Nearly all of the returned standard cab Dash-8s have road numbers that have since been assigned to CM44AC and CM44AH rebuild locomotives. One unit was renumbered to 9250, but it suffered an engine failure in 2024 and is likely to never be restored. As for 7595, it is being moved to Winston to join the previously seen Dash-8s in storage.
Both M603 and I026 had great K5LA horns on their lead engines, and great mechanical bells.
