Has RR fixed those engines for A350-1000? Considering the delay of B777X I think it was a mistake not ordering the A350-1000. They will have very old 777s in service before they get replacements.
Rolls Royce planned the upgrade the Trent XWB-97 to Trent XWB-100 but I don’t think it’s going to happen. The 777X won’t replace anything because Emirates is planning to keep their 777-300ER and 777-200LR for another 13 years.

Boeing 777 utilised this afternoon at Edinburgh instead of a 359. I see Qatar has also switched its morning flight to a 788 but retains its afternoon flight as a 359.

They are keeping the 777-200LR until 2030. They are planning to retrofit them with premium economy and new business class because those planes still have the oldest emirates layout.

Tim Clark, should be careful with the B777X GE engines performance, which have not been a success story whilst on Trial this delayed aircraft. RR/AB is known to be intensively working on improving the A350-1000 RR performance. At the End, Tim knows Best and will decide for the best interest of his cherished Emirates.

From the Haneda accident, the problems with the A350 still have not been investigated. Perhaps Emirates should delay entry into service until the A350 can be confirmed safe.
The A380 and A350 has the same cockpit so it isn't that different pilots may only be trained for only a week. 777x however have the same cockpit with787 which Emirates doesn't have so training will be atleast a month or so

Maybe, but 'very old' is not the same as very bad! And with the knowledge I have of Emirates, they will retrofit these aircrafts again, if needed!

Emirates ordered the A350 earlier and cancelled the order. Then they re-ordered it in 2019, leaving the -1000 out of the deal.
