The teeny "back seats" give you a 4 seat insurance discount.
Exactly! Same as my Mitsubishi Eclipse convertible. Back seat is only good for suitcases.
this is often spread as truth but is generally not true. insurance companies are not that stupid. they do not think a Porsche 911 is suddenly not a fast sports car just because it has back seats.
In Japan, 4 seats means cheaper insurance rates. In America, the insurance companies don't care how many seats it has but how many doors it has.

Hey Scotty I've been watching you for the last few months just stumbled on you this year really impressed of your knowledge partner but age gives you knowledge you've been there. I'm a retired pipeline welder I don't do any mechanic and just very little maybe changing alternator something on my truck I've got a board around the corner that you shade tree mechanic and he does really good I have to Broncos in their 90's an 03 Excursion with a V10 and a 95 Ford Dually 460 5 speed width 160 mm on it original and I have a 96 Dodge 3500 four wheel drive or 6 wheel drive dually whatever you want to call it just got about 260 on it that's my welding truck. Really like to watch you and I passed your name along to anybody I know to tell them that it's very interesting how you go about explaining things to people what to buy what not to buy and how to fix things. And I tell them that they can go back on I guess your blogs and find out in other episodes of how to repair a particular car or a particular problem on car. I am from Sugarland Texas myself a pipeline and went to Florida about 32 years ago and was going to come back and never went just traveled all the states. I live in North Carolina now about 50 miles west of Charlotte in the Foothills Carolina's org a great place I know you will enjoy things up there with your family in Tennessee looking forward to any thing that you put on the air it really impresses me. I just ran Malone cuz this phone's got the automatic voice control so when I got it it kind of created a monster with me just yakking but thanks again enjoy watching you. A faithful follower. The reason that Lexus has a tiny back seat is insurance. There is an astronomical difference in premiums between a two seat and a four seat auto.

This is one of the best cars Lexus has ever made. Very stylish, sporty and fast vehicle that's also a hardtop convertible. You can't beat that.

Excellent advice about not running an old vehicle on very low fuel. That's just asking for fuel pump issues.

I helped my dad buy one of these around 2 years ago for $7k. He had to fix some electrical issues but otherwise has had no issues with the engine/transmission. He loves it.

I had to replace my brother's alternator on his spare car. A 2012 kia Sorento. UGH that sucked! It was 100 out here in Georgia at the time and took way to long to do the job. I will never do that again.

Autel (the same company that makes Scotty's expensive pro scan tool) TPMS sensors are around $30 each.
and they can be programmed to work with most (if not all) makes and models.
so it's not so expensive to fix the TMPS warning light.
This is why I prefer ABS based TPMS. Simple, no sensors in the tire stem and no need to reprogram

Those back seats are strictly for insurance purposes.
A 2 door 2 seater has astronomical premiums. However, a 4 seater has a significantly lower premium, even though it's still a 2 door.
Since I was 16 I was always taught to never let any vehicle get below 1/4 tank of gas new or old

Hey Scotty I've been watching you for 6 months now I only buy Nissans and saw you had a lot to say about them that's what made me start watching you a little bit off of subject anyways love your videos great fix on that Lexus
I was told that auto manufacturers put those tiny goofy seats in the back of "sporty cars" due to the insurance companies charging more for 2 seaters.
When they started putting hatchbacks on them, they were much handier.
My 2008 ford focus has 400k miles all original.and easy to work on.

A friend of mine (who's pretty savvy sometimes) bought one of the Sports Lexus's. Had to replace axle seals right away.

The transmission is there to balance the weight because 160# on one side messes with the handling.

When the fuel pump is in the gas tank the gas helps keep the fuel pump cool. When you drive with a low fuel level the fuel pump runs hot and will shorten its life. Especially if the car is old and has a lot of miles on the fuel pump. The fuel has a sock to keep the crude out. You should more concerned on over heating the fuel pump when running the car low on gas.

I never run low on fuel. I was told many years ago by running low on fuel with high performance cars it can cause fuel injectors/turbo's etc., to get trash in them from the tank, don't know it is true or not, but I didn't want to take chance.

For years people have been saying don’t run your tank below a 1/4 tank because you can pick up crud off the bottom of the tank. Question, where is the fuel pick up in a tank? Isn’t it at the bottom of the tank?

Between both my 2001 and 2006 cars, i have been in both gas tanks, they are clean. There is no sludge in gas tanks, unless the car sits for a decade with a full tank of gas. Maybe that myth was true years ago, before they put gas pumps inside the tanks. The gas pumps are at the bottom of the tank, so if we went by that myth, about there being sludge in gas tanks, then after 30,000 miles the pre-filters would be clogged and cars cannot be started, this preventing the gas from getting to the injectors.

I liked the old days. When I was 16 I bought a 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 convertible for 450 dollars. I could change the oil, plugs and points. Pretty simple. Not so simple with the new cars. I just take it to the dealer for everything. I'm afraid of I mess with it I'll break something.
