I had a 308 GTS QV for 6 years and loved every second of ownership. I sat in one last year and the strong smell of leather brought all the memories back.... Great video.
I’ve owned my ‘79 308 GTS since 1987. Run at Watkins Glen and Summit Point at Ferrari Nationals . Climbed the Toll Road at Stowe in VT, done 1000 mile rallies and a personal trip where the stored ginger ale in the front boot, started to explode, well we’d removed the spare because we were on a two week trip in the car and we stocked in advance. Thought that the travesty would be storage in the rear. Car has 60000 miles of which we put almost 40000. Very few issues in ownership. One clutch, the obvious belt changes, the points frying in the rally resulting in an upgrade to electronic ignition through a rebuild of the distributors. And kiss the catalysts goodbye. The road feel of the 308 is still amazing. I now have a 488 Spider as well as my first love the 308. Ferrari forever.
You know what guys that was epic! The 308 has always been my favourite Ferrari as it was on my wall in the 80s and what gave my my Ferrari passion since I was 10. I’ve been in a few 308s and a 328 and I loved it. Seeing you guys smile all the way through and to hear Jason say “meet your hero’s” and Damian appreciating a car he had no interest in made this video so cool . This drive every Ferrari series is just epic and I’m loving every episode., Just include Jason in more as the banter between you two is what takes the videos to another level.
Great to see Jason in the hot seat again.. what a glorious engine sound. Such an iconic car. I remember a friend getting one in the mid 70s.. his girlfriend was blond, well endowed and he had a 308GTB. Life didn't get any better.. for him. I lusted after both. Top episode, guys.
Have a '77 GTB dry sump,3rd of 211 RHD since 1992.Toured Europe ..Nurburgring /Monza/P Ricard etc + factory tour.Didn't miss a beat. The boys are back in town! Jason I hope you can secure a nice example ...remember when Dino's were 5K? Early 308 are heading in the same direction !
Great video! I just came in from driving my 328! What great cars. I started out looking for a 308 QV but couldn't find the right one so got a 328 instead and have not been disappointed at all. Such fun cars to drive! You guys described it perfectly in the video. I strongly encourage you to get one!
I could've bought 1 for 25 grand once - wish I'd had the money back then - probably could've squeezed it out somehow but didn't want to stretch myself that thin - now I wish I had
I hired an '84 308 QV for a weekend in Scotland way back in the late 90s. A lot of fun to drive though the gearbox wasn't great until everything had warmed up but I think this is common on classic Ferrari's.
The 308 really is a lot of fun I've driven the 308 and 328 a few times, but nothing so far has matched when driving hard in a friend's F40! Crazy machine, especially his F40 with mechanical configuration of the LM version! Great content
Wonderful road car rather than track day king. When cars were compact and comfortable enough to eat up B roads and reward at the legal limit. Not all progress since the 70s has been positive I feel. Great video
This was the first video I saw from you, guys... and it was quite amazing, I wish I could do something like you do, I just love Ferrari from my whole heart since childhood. This video was amazing.
Great video - Yes, Tom Selleck's car had the seat lowered so it was fixed on the floor with no runners and also all filming was with the targa roof off.
Who is the bald headed bloke with Damien? 😂🤣 A great review as always guys. Really loving this series and it should do good for your channel into the future.
Absolutely gorgeous cars to me it’s one of the most elegant designs ever made, they look brilliant from every angle. I Would love you to test a 288 GTO always been my favourite dream car, apart from the weird seats totally perfect in every other way.
Great to see Jason back 👏 😁👍 Not sure about in the flesh but it looks lovely in that brown 👌 Another excellent video boys. Should have LOADS MORE subs, don't understand why you haven't 🥺
My brother had a 1977 Vetroresina that he had converted to a GTS with factory components, Rosso Corsa Magnum style with the later 16" wheels.. Did we have some fun in that car in the 80s! Put a microphone in that RH door intake where the carbs feed from and it will give you an auralgasm!
My best experience was driving a 328QV ⋯100mile per hour cruise on the highway then the bus like slow steering is perfect! The car is totally in sync !
u skipped over the engine start up, always a mistake in a character car when A Griff started up in a garage workshop 20 yds away...I just knew I had to adopt one :)
One of the big mysteries of this era…why are the head restraints nowhere near anyones heads? Shoulder level? Great video as always and thankful that my dream car from childhood doesn’t drive like a dog! Small + light + not excessive power = great fun
Thanks for realizing so nice review. Too many people compare these cars to modern ones without realizing all the pleasure that a vintage car ,properly driven, could give. As a 1985 Qv gts owner i allow myself 2 notes : air conditioning could be converted to r134 without issues, the steering wheel is not original,it comes from a Qv. Regarding the brakes if you decide to put 16"wheels you could get a big improvement with Superformance brake kit. It's not plug&play but almost invisible from outside ( no restomod appearance)
Had Great fun watching this episode. What a stunning example of a 308!!! Always thought that and the 288 gto and 356gt4? Are some of the best looking fezza's. Thanks.
Magnum PI My childhood, this is the Ferrari. Wish you featured a red one, Probably the only one I really really liked all because of Tom Selleck and Magnum PI. Thank you for this I was waiting for this in drive every Ferrari. Dam it too short
Nice video and looks like a great day and roads. Having driven 308-348-355-360 I would agree the brakes on the 308 leave a lot to be desired. But it’s an amazing smooth cruiser and made for those rolling sweepers like you were on. I would love to add one some day to complement my Gated Gallardo. My father had a bunch of these growing up (see my channel) so videos like these being back the nostalgia. Such an awesome designed car.
I had a 208......the little known 2.0L turbo version, it was superb, a bit of light bubbling but it never missed a beat. Cheap too, it was a long time ago and I replaced it with a Porsche 924 Carrera GTS which went wrong with monotonous regularity, back end of the 80's, I was happy then
308 (carburetors-only!) certainly the purest; but 328 overall more refined: a matter of taste (and usage), I guess… GTB sportier than the GTS (structural rigidity, dry-sump), but inaccessible if you’re over 6’ tall… R134 conversion easy and relatively cheap. Brakes are actually very good: you should get that car checked, maybe. I witnessed 308’s with standard brakes getting pounded in Fiorano for a whole day without failing, and always providing very appropriate stopping power and feel.
Sold my 308 glass gtb. Had been raced and damaged. Aquired a 328 gts. Not quite as pretty, but faster and more reliable. Yet wish lde kept my glass Ferrari.
To be nerdy clear, it was not "Magnums" Ferrari. It was Robin Masters. License plate "Robin 1" should be a dead give away. And often they bartered for the right of use of the car. Along with tennis courts, etc. As well as how often Magnum was "stealing" the car w/out permission. Why would he need to steal his own car? lol In reality however, since the sales of this car were significantly boosted do to the popularity of the show, Ferrari did give Tom Selleck a Ferrari for his own personal use. Another fact is, the producers originally wanted to use a Porsche 928 instead. Also, the # of real deal cars were 8 in the show if memory serves. Most of the stunts and destruction of the car during the show were replicas made to look like the 308GTS. They were in fact Fierro's. To save on costs. The car years were 1979-1984. So enthusiasts may know this, but most probably did not. This has been forever a hero car I have wanted in my own collection. Have a lot of mixed responses to how it actually drives though. Some say the shifting and clutch are awful. Your review was quite flattering. The color on this was not flattering tho. lol In black it is sharp, but nothing beats a contrasting color to make the vents pop out all over the car. And that is my 2 cents.
This is the sweet spot of Ferrari's and cars for that matter too me. Modern enough to be used everyday, but not so modern where the cars got BIG, complex and really to fast to drive on the street and have fun. I actually prefer its predecessor the 308 GT4 for driving experience but the GTB/GTS easily wins the looks department. In regard to the brakes they can be improved, later calipers and pad material will do wonders, and the tops are really easy to install. Optimally it is a 2 person job but I can do it myself. I have no experience with a Porsche Targa, but the 308 is pretty similar to the Fiat x1/9 targa except they moved the catches to the opposite side. Enjoyable video guys
8:15 That was exactly the problem I had when I went for a ride in one. It occurred to me that even a low speed crash probably wouldn’t be survivable for someone as tall as us.
It’s incredibly easy to mod ,I added a twin turbo to mine and run it on 10% methanol gasoline (yes I know it’s not the best for old cars ,I change the fittings each month to avoid damage ) and it puts out 587 hp
Great Ferrari, I was a Magnum PI fan, so you can imagine how much I love this car (the brown let me speachless: never seen before and beatifull). But, I have to say that the Ferrari of my life dream is the 288 GTO (the 308 final evolution). Anyway, great vid, I really loved your smiling faces. Thumb up!
Ferrari removed padding from the seats so Selleck could sit lower in the car, and the seats were bolted as far away from the steering wheel as possible to maximise leg room.
To my eyes, the 308 is the absolute bulls-eye of what a sports car is supposed to look like. Every other sports car, even other Ferraris, are aesthetically inferior by varying degrees. I might make an exception for the 80's era Porsche 911, which is is just as beautiful but went in a different direction in terms of style.
Got to drive one of these when I was 18 years old (I’m 55), todays cars don’t seem to have that connection between man and machine. The soul has been “teched out”.
Couldn’t concentrate on the content until 15:34 - was trying to convince myself that it _was_ around Burford where Harry drives and that I wasn’t mad. Time to enjoy the rest of the video
One of the most iconic Ferrari's ever. A design and style that has stood the test the time. This car will look good 50 years from now.
Yes it will!
This is the only Ferrari I would ever consider buying. It'll never get old
Re: Tom Selleck fitting, from google: "The Ferraris used in the show had to be specially modified to accomodate Tom Selleck, who stands 6'4" tall. Now we know, thanks 👍🏻
…..and a tub of Vaseline was copiously applied….
At 7:04 you can see the gap behind the seat for the current driver.
At about 7:10 there is no gap for Selleck.
@@texasbeast239 Very cool. Does the seat look thinner as well? Maybe just because he's a big dude.
I had a 308 GTS QV for 6 years and loved every second of ownership. I sat in one last year and the strong smell of leather brought all the memories back.... Great video.
Thanks, Happy
Why did you sell it if I may ask
I’ve owned my ‘79 308 GTS since 1987. Run at Watkins Glen and Summit Point at Ferrari Nationals . When your driving a 308 GTS , your winning at life .. 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 Great episode fellas.
👍🏻👍🏻
I am from 1973, I had the 308 quattrovalvole as bedroom poster. Got infected with the Ferrari virus around the age of 12. Nice episode!
'I lusted after both' - not surprising, I suppose, considering how well endowed he was.
When people talk about "dirty old men" and being creepy, this is what they mean.
@@johnkelley7543 and proud of it.

Brought back the memorable Magnum PI intro clip , the 308 slides onto the road along with Tom Selleck's wide grin.
Great video! I just came in from driving my 328! What great cars. I started out looking for a 308 QV but couldn't find the right one so got a 328 instead and have not been disappointed at all. Such fun cars to drive! You guys described it perfectly in the video. I strongly encourage you to get one!

Good taste! You can’t go wrong with the 328!
Classic cars are about how they make you feel and reconnecting you with a much earlier time. Love the size and it's so pretty.
I could've bought 1 for 25 grand once - wish I'd had the money back then - probably could've squeezed it out somehow but didn't want to stretch myself that thin - now I wish I had
308gt4 and Mondial ? I think they’re next.
Prettiest Ferrari ever made in my opinion. Didn’t realize it’s actually a great driver’s car as well. Thanks for the great video guys!
ever made...😵💫🥴
I hired an '84 308 QV for a weekend in Scotland way back in the late 90s. A lot of fun to drive though the gearbox wasn't great until everything had warmed up but I think this is common on classic Ferrari's.
That is gorgeous! Still one of the most beautiful Ferrari's ever made.
Yes yes yes. Jason is back. Great video, as always. I also loved Magnum, espacially the intro when he slided the 308. Who can forget that?
Great to have you back Jason. So pretty and so underrated…the 308 that is! Insightful as always chaps.
I wouldn’t say Jason was pretty tbf
such great chemistry when you're sharing the ride!
This was my first car crush. It still looks great today
Guys, love your sheer enthusiasm and the sincere excitement and fun you’re having sharing and communicating! Bravo!
👍🏻👍🏻
Great to see Jason back on the channel, great review as always on an apparently too disregarded Ferrari.
👍🏻👍🏻
My favourite Ferrari. Love the episode of Magnum where he's chased by a 928, my another favourite.
What a beautiful sound- well done on content as per the norm!!
To source these beautiful examples is a real treat, as opposed to watching a grainy video of old cars 👏🏻
👍🏻👍🏻
Nice to see Jason back.
So good to see Jason again.
Steering wheel is from a later 308 QV/328, hence the lack of vision for some of the gauges. Original thin rimmed MOMO lets you seen them all.
👍🏻👍🏻

Thanks, Steve
7:10 He did! He was so tall they actually had to drop the seat down and move it back, he was basically sitting on the floor.
Good to see the Dynamic Duo back for an exciting episode 👍🏻
Leonardo Fioravanti also designed the 348 😉
This was the first video I saw from you, guys... and it was quite amazing, I wish I could do something like you do, I just love Ferrari from my whole heart since childhood. This video was amazing.
You could definitely do everything we are doing 👍🏻
Finally Jason is back.. i was beginning to think Damian should change his name to the "TheCarGuy" 🙂
Yes, Jason is back, great vibes with you both on screen…… great car too, love the 308…..
👏👏
Loving the dial font, speaker grills, gear lever grate
Great video - Yes, Tom Selleck's car had the seat lowered so it was fixed on the floor with no runners and also all filming was with the targa roof off.
Nice to see Jason again.
Pleasantly suprised that the drive was so good even today. Iconic Ferrari and of having pop up lights, makes it extra cool.
Ferrari has a big place in my heart I'm a huge Ferrari fan
Magnum P.I. ! You need a big moustache Damian! 😆 Also, great to see Jason back again. 👍🏻
Great to see both of you again 👍
Thanks 👍
Would love to see you get your hands on an early pantera as well. What a looker they are.
This was such an awesome video guys, well done and thank you!
More please.
Thank you! Will do!

Jason + Tom Selleck wig = Jeremy Beadle

Hi mate it's not Fiovaranti, it's Fioravanti! Keep up the good work! Cheers from Italy!
Yes I know 😂
From memory, they did adapt the Ferrari Tom drove in Magnum so he could fit in.
Great series! Thanks for sharing 😍 The 308GTS ticks all the boxes 👍☑️

Sounds better from the right hand seat as the induction intake is on the right. Hence RHD cars better for sound from drivers seat!

Great to see Jason back behind the wheel. Not so much my poster car, more a very well played with Diecast. Beautiful car. Great series.
