They are using him to get people onto smart meters, the guy an evil little sh*t because he knows full well it will get people in the butt in the future.
Eon gave us a new EV night time tariff for 12 months, meaning instead of the price cap we pay 9p at night and 23p during the day, we are saving 2/3rds of what we used to pay on the price cap as we charge the car, and put the washer and dishwasher on in the night, absolute game changer tariff!
Hi there - I’ve just signed up to the same tariff, not sue if you’ve done a typo but the day time tariff price is 32p not 23p - the night time ones is aces though as I schedule everything go at night 😊
Thanks Martin just signed up to this. Also thanks for letting me know about Santander saver at 5% glad you did a video otherwise I would have never known about it 👍
Interesting. We are existing EoN customers paying £270 pm (was £340pm) and I have a disabled bedbound father who relies on electric for his bed and equipment etc. will check this out thank you
Smart meters are not compulsory and it is up to you whether you get one installed. You will likely be offered one by your supplier if you don't already have one, but you are well within your right to refuse.
I want to put my parents on this but a smart meter can't be installed as their meter is under the stair case and the house itself pretty much blocks all mobile signals...
@@Bungle2010 I don't need to know how much gas and electricty I'm using on a minute by minute basis. I'll just use the good old method of getting my bill each month and paying it. A smart meter will have absolutely zero effect on how I use gas and electric. I'm fed up with the energy companies telling me about how it uses minimal electricty to run, well minimal is not free and is still an added cost to my bill no matter how small. I'm not going to be conned into having a smart meter fitted by some offer they are currently having on prices even if it is going to cost me £50 a year more to do so. I'm not going to miss £50 over the course of 52 weeks.
@@celery4564 Yes why would anyone want instant access to how much energy they are using, and how much is costing, so decisions can be made based on that, when they can wait until the end of the month and be surprised by how much they have to pay. 🤔 And what you wrote literally makes no sense. You're obsessing over the few watts a day smart meter uses (which you're not charged for anyway), yet you're prepared to throw fifty quid down the drain because you won't have one! You make no sense! 🤔

I've agreed to a smart 'meter' install. I dont really want one but if they want to fit one I don't really care. At least it should save me from having to take meter readings every month. However I don't want to be pushed to a higher direct debit amount than my average annual usage, that would annoy me. At least I can easily do the maths for that and argue it with them. Last time I did this E.on Next were unwilling to reduce the amount but instead let me have a two month payment holiday which ran down the amount of credit I had. This seemed an odd approach but it achieved the desired objective.
Martin I've listened and taken your advice over the last 3-5 years where has it landed me? On smart meters, in debt and stuck on a standard variable tariff by direct debit. All my money tied up in direct debits and no money for food currently using the food bank every month but still short on food the food bank food only lasts 1-2 weeks at most 🤷🏻
Why do you think? It's so they can make damn sure you stay supplied whether you do as you're told or not! (It's certainly not so they can switch you off whenever they feel like. God no, wouldn't do that.) Just go blissfully baaaacckkk to sleep pls 😔😪🥱😴💤 there you go. Nite nite x
But Eon are dreadful, absolutely fkn dreadful as I am already with them. Firstly I do NOT want a smart meter and secondly no direct debit so they can then empty my bank account for cash that I don't owe them. They are crooks. This deal is just a cynical ploy to get more people on 'smart' meters. No way. Shame on you Mr Lewis for not highlighting this. You title yourself as the consumer's champion. I can't see this helping consumers.
Lewis doesn't _care._ You've mistaken him. He's earning darling. I'm ashamed of his whole 'outfit' too - I tried to get help. Errr, nott so concerned..
@@Bungle2010 Well you are fall for it then. Of course EON and other energy companies have NEVER ever taken more money than the consumption of energy that a consumer has used or actual uses. No one has a huge credit on their account because EON has taken far more cash in DD than they are entitled to. This never ever happens. Sucker!

I'm staying with OVO. I can't do with all this hopping around. I don't have a Smart Meter and they leave me alone. Listen, I had a very small gas leak last year, or the year before, and a gas guy came out and I told him I was resisting Smart Meters and had been, in the past, put under pressure by a company (bought out by OVO) until I threatened them for harassing me. The gas man said he didn't blame me not getting a Smart Meter because he was always having to go out and fix them. It's the same reason I will not have an air pump heater. ruclips.net/video/GhAKMAcmJFg/видео.html
They can't bribe me into getting a smart meter.
Just looking and pretty much all of their tariff's are insisting on Smart Meters

Thank you Martin. Excellent advice as always. Just switched seems the best option if you are already on EON.
Eon keep telling me i must get a smart meter or my meter will stop working. Are they doing this to anyone else?
Yep, especially the elderly and especially British Gas. And if they do not cease and desist concerning my 90 y.o. mother, I swear to God... 👹👊💥👊💥👊💥👊💥
