Reading & Northern 2102: The First Autumn Ramble (With Shave and a Haircut Steam Whistle Show) (4K)

- On October 1, I saw Reading & Northern 4-8-4 2102 on the Fall Foliage Excursion from Jim Thorpe to Reading, PA. First I saw the 3:00 PM Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway train departing Jim Thorpe with GP38-2 2013 leading and 2014 on the back. Shortly after, 2102 pushed its train through the station. Right behind 2102 was GP38-2 2010 and 2023 (40th Anniversary) pushing the Pittston train into the station. After all passengers were on board, the train departed heading to Pittston, PA. Soon after, the 3:00 PM train returns with 2014 leading and 2013 bringing up the rear. Then the 4:00 PM train departs with 2013 leading. 2102 then pulls into the station. After all passengers were on board, 2102 pulled out of Jim Thorpe for the return trip to Reading. Listen as the engineer on 2102 gives a "Shave and a Haircut" whistle show! I chased it to a crossing in Tamaqua, PA.

Beautiful looking 2013 and nice seeing the caboose too! Great action with all that steam. 2102 was also beautiful. Loved hearing the whistle. What a beautiful location and time of year to be on those trains! Must have been a lot of fun.
