Hello Rick and Korbin, I want your attention here. Please address this. I am a Marathi man ( as u struggled to pronounce 'Maharashtrian' 😅). And i have zero issue with this depiction in the trailer. Most of the Indian audience apart from Maharashtrians and also the reactors outside of India are complaining about the Chhava trailer, the loudness of Vicky's character ( some are calling overacting ) and complaining over small sets, grounded vs massey feel. 1st of all, Why there is loudness in Chh. Sambhaji Maharaj's character. Is Vicky really overacting? No, if you get to know about the cruelty, brutality of Aurangzeb, what he did with our motherland, destroying everything in his path, be it temples or farm lands or ordinary people, craftsmans etc, and on the other hand, there is Chh. Sambhaji Raje who was very determined to get the freedom. And the situation was like literally handful of Maratha warriors VS Lacs of Mughal Army. With such anger against the Mughal empire, What can u expect from him? What will be his reaction? That's the reason he is called as 'Chhava' ( Lion's cub ). 2nd, sets are small.. Seriously ?? Did people who are complaining even visited the Maharashtrian forts?? They are not like grand Rajasthani forts with variety of stones and designs. They are made of simple black basalt rock and wooden roofs. So its imp to Know the history 1st before giving their opinion. 3rd, why bollywood always wants hero to dance? Raje is not dancing. He is playing a Lezim. Its one of the folk dance of Maharashtra. And it performs only on festivals if you ever know Maharashtrian culture. And it is ancient act, not the modern one. Some scenes are massey? Do you ever heard of Guerilla warfare? And how much Marathas were expert in this technique? Water uplifting scene is too much? understand the science behind it. Ever heard of buoyancy effect? In water, you can lift the double of the weight compared to land. Eg. If you can lift 50kg of stone on land, you can lift around 100kg of rock in water. So what if there are another people below them under water who are helping and pushing to uplift them in air from the water? Cleanliness of cloths? Rather than historical accuracy? Indian Textile industry is approx 3000 years old. (Might be older than that) This is 17th century's story. The fine Silk, Muslin cloths were widely available at that period. The art of zari (gold and silver threads) and intricate designs flourished during this medieval period. Also Paithani Saree, a very classy maharashtrian Saree was also there since 2000 years. There is another type called Chintz (printed cotton fabric with intricate floral designs) originated in India and became a global favorite in that era. And also there were cloths with Mughal influence. There is an original photo of Shivaji Raje available on google. See how well dressed he is. And As he is The King, what would you expect him to wear, not fine cloths? At that time, Paithani silk might be used to make the clothes. I know you meant that the texture of the cloths they used in movie seems very shiny as they made out of machinery and not on handloom. See, 1st of all the Director is Marathi. He never made this grand scale movie before, so believing his vision might be tough for producers, so no one wants to give a lot of money to produce the film. The film is made only in 100 Cr., not spent 800-900 Crs like Bahubali, RRR, KGF. So keeping this in mind + some budget for the sets and vfx, they might have some restrictions. And hand woven clothes are very expensive. If you look closely in trailer, They gave fine cloths to the extras also. I think they might not fit the hand woven clothes in their budget. Lastly, if you will learn how much Chh. Sambhaji Raje fought in his short life span, how scholar he was, and then you watch the trailer, you will realise they showed nothing in the trailer. People will appreciate and uplift the fictional stories like KGF and Salaar etc. But they'll always criticise the real worriors. And obviously its not their fault, its their fault that they are uneducated about the subject.
Exactly! I want to just say one thing if you are watching historic movies with mind of 21 century it will never understand you. You need to go back in perticular century and present there yourself then you will get to know their motive behind this
You really think that they care?...both of their mindsets matches very much with the opposite way of thinking and more specially how our oppositions think about our Hindu heros.
@proudlyakafir I also think they don't care about our thinking. But, we should do our duty just like Sambhaji Maharaj did for us. And who knows in future, in free time they looked my comment and really search about Maharaj. That's why..
As Indian, I request you people to do little research about your content specifically when it's a biopic. When a biopic is made whether its a good movie or not but its an amazing history always. So please spend some time with little more efforts with your pronunciations, identity of legends etc. We appreciate your contents....but don't take it for granted.
That Mud Fight scene using Mace is during the Night Raid of Maratha Empire on Aurangzeb's commander. That Hanging/Flying in Air with Rope fight and Water fight sequence is a part of **Guerilla warfare techniques. Sambha jii Maharaj's father Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was the father of Naval warfare as well that's why our Indian Naval Army Logo is the same as Maratha Empire Naval Flag logo.
His grand father real goat of Naval warfare is Chola king Rajendira chozan also called as Gangaikondan..first Indian king to have Navel base and Army during early 11th century
Well “this guy” was a legend … he actually did fight a lion … he at the age of 31 was captured, tortured and killed by Arungazeb… he was a scholar and a warrior
There are some people who existed in our past who were so legendary that will make present day people doubt if they genuinely existed in flesh and blood. He was one!
You guys clearly have no idea about Aurangzeb and Sambhaji Maharaj. If you knew then you would have got goosebumps watching their characters as they have nailed it. Also no knowledge of the real events depicted here also doesn't help. Thus, this reaction. Not your fault though !!
Don't take every film as a entertainment and massy... It's based on real incident and connected to our emotions and pride... So next time do homework before or after you watch trailer and throw your opinion
The movie is a true story. It's our history. Fight for independent nation "Swarajya" was started by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and he was called the Lion of India. Chhava means llion cub. This story is about eldest son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, that is Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. His life was very short, but it was very big. A man who lost no battle. The ending of movie is going to give shivers down the spine with tears in eyes. After the death of Chhatrapati Sambhaji maharaj, British finally got a chance to enter India.
It's a Maratha Empire story which was almost whole of India during those days .. so almost whole of India knows the history as school obviously.. anyways let's see how it goes ... i mean if you see other trailer reactions from all parts of India, great response !
Definitely Not whole of India. In south we don't know much about Maratha empire. We respect it but we never are as attached or passionate like you guys.
@JabyKoay321 Yeah first of all honestly this whole north south thing go well with me ... i mean when it came to history as a subject in school we were taught mostly the whole of India ... BTW I'm a south indian from Udupi but yeah grew up in the west .. by west i mean Mumbai hehe
I really wonder without knowing about Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Chatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj why you chose to give your reaction. Before giving reaction, you should have read atleast the basics of Maratha Kingdom. You might have understood why its designed this way. And honestly we dont care what you guys think about our movies. You can't even spell the name correctly and you dare to give reactions whats wrong with you guys?? And lastly you call it massy.. get a checkup done asap
Well obviously that lion King Killing thing is most likely just a romanticized folk legend. But in reality Sambhaji was a very fierce King who went through a lot in life and was of very tall and muscular build and very specialized in Gorilla training which he learned from his father Shivaji. And Aurangzed was an extremely cruel Mughal Emperor who killed most of his family members to get the throne and put Sambhaji through incredible torture after he refused to accept Islam.
the every single thing showed in trailer was very accurate and im saying as a marathi guy who read the whole bioghraphic novel of CHATRAPATI SAMBHAJI MAHARAJ novel called as CHAAVA ... even the last thing where SAMBHAJI MAHARAJ put his hand in lions mouth..... every other maratha home have that picture hanging on wall with the lion !!!
The curly hair one sir for you if ur hearing me it's history Of India it's about Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's son Chatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.... And here everyone is Marathi coz everyone is Hindu Sanatani no cast only Sanatani🙏🏻✨
Do you people even understand Marathi or Hindi? Or do you even know who was Chatrapati Shivaji/Sambhaji Maharaj? I mean whats the point of reacting on this trailer? 🤔
Don't know how good you are with history. "Chatrapati Sambaji maharaj" did fight with lion. There was a saying "सिंहाच्या जबड्यात घालुनी हात मोजतो दात ही जात मराठ्यांची" this was dedicated to Chatrapati Sambhaji maharaj, only मराठा and भारतीय can relate to this
I am glad that Sambhaji Maharaj is getting the recognition he deserves. But the moviel feels very black and white Teenage Sambhaji spoke 14 languages including Portugese and English. He was very smart and exceptional with his tactics, but in the trailer he just looks like a angry bloodthirsty warrior hungry for war. Even Aurangzeb with the all Black clothing just because he is the bad guy of the story. It seems to be a very dumbed down version to appeal to the masses. Sambhaji was a great scholar and him screaming throughout the trailer doesn't seem to be the correct depiction of him.
The most comedic thing is that you were actually over the top in praising movies like Jodha Akbar which were far far away from reality and you didnt even bother to do a quick check on real history with this film. You should stop reviewing trailer of movies depicting Indian history and mythology.
@@sachvaidya That was addressed in the film's disclaimer as well as the director Asutosh Gowarikar clarifying that they opted for the name Jodha because the name was popular among the public. What other historical inaccuracies were there except the Troyesque duel between Akbar & Sharifuddin in the film?
@@sachvaidya what's the point of you asking me about Maratha history & all when we are debating what other historical inaccuracies you noticed in Jodha Akbar movie as claimed by you? Coming to Chhava I am sure Marathas weren't swinging from trees or firing arrows while leaping from the rivers to attack their enemies in guerilla warfare as shown in its trailer!!
@@srivastava6400 not really… the area today called Maharashtra was once occupied by people who called themselves ‘Rattha’. And they occupied large area, ‘Maharattha’ which ultimately became Maharashtra and people lived in Maharattha became Maratha. The caste today known as Maratha, came much later. This is based on true history. When India was under the terror of forceful religious converstion through a foreign origin unjust empire from central asia. A native king Ch. Shivaji Maharaj and his Son rose from nothing and fought that evil. These men were so great that it was almost supernatural what they did. No matter what religion or country if you love humanity and justice this story is a must read. It's like a Game of thrones of India.
The Marathas liberated a civilization! These bigots don’t understand what that means! They are only used to seeing indigenous civilizations lose, give up & convert. So they are unable to process the reality.
That's why there is a famous typical dialogue in India - "Jab kuch pataa na ho to muh band karke baithna chahiye". Perfectly fits here, especially for Rick. Just shut up man, you don't know the history and these historical figures so don't pass any supremacist, know-it-all comments on it. The audacity 😒🙄🤨
Many people claim that he is an unsung hero of Indian history. I am glad they are telling his story, however biased it may be. But I agree with the review, it tries to be too much like a Hollywood film with a bit of Bahubali type of action. Not needed when you have a great story to tell.
Movie is based on real history. You should probably read it once, could you help you guys resonate better with the tone and the sentiment associated with Dharmaveer Chattrapati Sambhaji Maharaj
Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj (1657-1689) was the second ruler of the Maratha Empire and the eldest son of the founder, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He is remembered as a brave warrior, a scholar, and a patriot who sacrificed his life to protect the Maratha Empire and its values. Below is a brief overview of his life and contributions: Early Life Born: May 14, 1657, at Purandar Fort, Pune, Maharashtra. Parents: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Saibai. Sambhaji was trained in statecraft, administration, and warfare from a young age. He was well-versed in multiple languages, including Sanskrit, Persian, Marathi, and Kannada. Reign Coronation: Sambhaji became the ruler of the Maratha Empire in 1681 after Shivaji Maharaj's death. Reign Period: 1681-1689. During his reign, Sambhaji faced numerous challenges, including invasions by the Mughal Empire under Emperor Aurangzeb, Portuguese threats in Goa, and internal dissent within the Maratha Empire. Military Campaigns Conflict with Mughals: Sambhaji resisted Aurangzeb's massive campaigns to annex the Deccan. His guerrilla warfare tactics weakened Mughal advances. Battle of Goa (1683): He fought against the Portuguese and nearly succeeded in capturing Goa. Naval Strength: He strengthened the Maratha navy to counter European powers like the Portuguese and the British. Legacy and Martyrdom Capture and Execution: Sambhaji was betrayed by his own people and captured by Aurangzeb in 1689. He was tortured and executed in a brutal manner for refusing to convert to Islam or surrender the Maratha Empire. His death became a symbol of resistance and sacrifice. Cultural Contributions: Sambhaji was a patron of arts and literature. He wrote works such as Budhbhushanam, a Sanskrit text on ethics and governance. Legacy Sambhaji Maharaj is revered for his unwavering courage, patriotism, and devotion to his people and culture. He is regarded as a martyr who laid down his life for the independence of the Maratha Empire and is widely respected in Maharashtra and beyond.
In India the left liberal, communist, woakist lobby never let the real true heroes of history were not given importance in school history books...so with changed times such true stories are coming out in public domain with some mass appeal and melodrama...

Do math in 1650AD when Marathas 500 farmer tribe stood firmly against hindu genocider Mogal army of 28 million result Marathas saved Hindu from extinction.
Sambhaji is the son of greatest Marathi king and warrior Shivaji Maharaj. Sambhaji was tortured to death after his capture by Mughal ruler Aurangazeb played here by Akshay Khanna. Aurangzeb was last major and one of the most ruthless of the Mughal rulers after which it was the British empire that ruled India.
It's not just a movie. Don't treat this movie review as an ordinary review of a film. If you say anything wrong, people might go wild in the comment section, just like they did for KGF. Handle such movies with care and only with love. If people went crazy for a movie like KGF, imagine how they will react to a film based on real history.✨..if you come to Maharashtra or Mumbai on 19th February & just travel or roads then you will understand what I'm saying✨
I suggest you guys check the map of India between 1650 & 1750 to understand how the power structure changed over time. There is a RUclips video on Indias map & territory changes. Yes, we love the Maratha empire - for a reason. Maratha + the Sikh empire won all of Bharat back from the Mughal invaders. Now, don’t tell me that the Mughals are not invaders coz some of them were born in India. The Mughals never identified themselves as Indian, they called themselves Timuriods (descendants of Taimur from Türkiye). They imposed a foreign language and script on the native Indians. Our local language was not good for official communication! The Mughals never became us - just like the British never became us! I am not even talking about the religious persecution. You won’t do this to a Jew - but why is so easy to deny Hindus their history & look down on us? Why are you people always on the side of genocidal maniacs?
I’ve noticed that before as well. They have a problem when the indigenous civilization opens up about the struggles, invasions, atrocities and destruction we faced as a civilization 😢 They seem to support Islamic invasions from the middle east? They are against British colonization though! Very strange.
It appears the vibe would be more like “Tanhaji” movie, Historical but epic . So expect few heightened scenes and dialogues . Like fighting with lion. The wars were complex and long. I wish if movies covers more of strategy and battle planning part not only focus on brave epic stylised war scenes .
See I will tell you what happened here. Story is barbaric, story is about Aurangzeb coming to south to kill our marathi (pro dominant Dharmic) civilization, took away our culture from on the tup of sword and mass convert or kill and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj fought him till Maharaj's death. Aurangzeb tourtured our Maharaj is most inhuman way. After Maharaj's death Marathi people fought with aurangzeb so hard that he couldn't escape his camp and go back to north and sit on his crown until his own death. You see story is communal, civilizational and inspirational. But makers through there dialouges shyed away from showing that. They want it to be inclusive. Clearly it doesn't work that way.
Such heroic history of any king or kindom is rare,in the western world.that's y they end up judging us.but my brother,my india is the world of many worlds.❤ From ASSAM,JAI BHAVANI🫵🏼🫡

👍
Well said mate , people without a life and knowledge bitching on one of the best movie in 2025.
Yed jhave ahet bhau he, these people don't have that caliber to even understand these things.
Exactly! I want to just say one thing if you are watching historic movies with mind of 21 century it will never understand you. You need to go back in perticular century and present there yourself then you will get to know their motive behind this

Ppl in comments saying its massy and masala but 99.9 % were based on his real life .
Agree. This same actor gave us Sardar Udham. He knows how to portray historical characters better than other actors tbh.
It has massy execution. It might be based on real events but there are some action scenes that clearly is over done to make it massy.

Foreigners can’t connect with emotions behind this movie and sambhaji maharaj.

Chatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj was forced by aurangzeb to convert to islam. But he did not convert to islam. Jai hind jai Chatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj
But Dharmendra did for love of Hema
@kalpeshvedak He has no sense
He did not convert - that’s their problem. This is a Hinduphobic channel.

It is not in the school (ncert) books . This is the main issue.

@JitendraWagh73179 exactly..just for more viewers they are taking interest in our films..

I am glad that Sambhaji Maharaj is getting the recognition he deserves. But the moviel feels very black and white
Teenage Sambhaji spoke 14 languages including Portugese and English.
Which things in Jodha Akbar was far away from reality except the poison angle i.e poison given by the mother of Jodha to her before marriage?
@AjeebDastaan2015 Jodha herself 🤣. Many historians say that Akbar didn't had any wife with this name. The list is long.
@@AjeebDastaan2015 Have you ever read Maratha history or visited Maharashtra? I would suggest doing it once before your next comment.
@@sachvaidya what's the point of you asking me about Maratha history & all when we are debating what other historical inaccuracies you noticed in Jodha Akbar movie as claimed by you? Ignorance is no excuse for being disrespectful to a national hero.
The last shot with lion is actually a trademark of Sambhaji! Aurangzeb skinned alive Sambhaji after a brutal torture for days.

Below is a brief overview of his life and contributions:
Early Life
Born: May 14, 1657, at Purandar Fort, Pune, Maharashtra.
Parents: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Saibai.
Sambhaji was trained in statecraft, administration, and warfare from a young age. He was well-versed in multiple languages, including Sanskrit, Persian, Marathi, and Kannada.
Reign
Coronation: Sambhaji became the ruler of the Maratha Empire in 1681 after Shivaji Maharaj's death.
Reign Period: 1681-1689.
During his reign, Sambhaji faced numerous challenges, including invasions by the Mughal Empire under Emperor Aurangzeb, Portuguese threats in Goa, and internal dissent within the Maratha Empire.
Military Campaigns
Conflict with Mughals: Sambhaji resisted Aurangzeb's massive campaigns to annex the Deccan. His guerrilla warfare tactics weakened Mughal advances.
Battle of Goa (1683): He fought against the Portuguese and nearly succeeded in capturing Goa.
Naval Strength: He strengthened the Maratha navy to counter European powers like the Portuguese and the British.
Legacy and Martyrdom
Capture and Execution: Sambhaji was betrayed by his own people and captured by Aurangzeb in 1689.
Legacy
Sambhaji Maharaj is revered for his unwavering courage, patriotism, and devotion to his people and culture. He is regarded as a martyr who laid down his life for the independence of the Maratha Empire and is widely respected in Maharashtra and beyond.
You are not worthy to understand the sacrifice and contribution to build the nation. Still for the movie you are able to know the history.

They have a problem when the indigenous civilization opens up about the struggles, invasions, atrocities and destruction we faced as a civilization 😢
They seem to support Islamic invasions from the middle east? They are against British colonization though! Very strange.
It appears the vibe would be more like “Tanhaji” movie, Historical but epic . So expect few heightened scenes and dialogues . Like fighting with lion.
The wars were complex and long. I wish if movies covers more of strategy and battle planning part not only focus on brave epic stylised war scenes .
2:18 The actual reaction starts (ignore the talk till then)..Thank me later.
It is not more and massy
It is less if you know the reality
