My place has an average humidity all day of 80%. And it is in a major city of the Philippines! No problem growing orchids in tropical countries indeed.😍😍😍
Hi Wade, I just wanted to let you know your videos are very informative. I love looking at them and have learned soooooo much about orchids. Thanks and keep those videos coming.
I've got a curtisii, gerlandianum, cornutum and a falcatum. I'm looking to buy a elassonotum and especially looking for one I heard smells of hay if you or anyone might know. The name of it. Love learning from you. I'm brand new to collecting ❤ thank you
Animalier I finally added B. medusae to my collection. Now I need to wait 6 years for it to grow into a specimen. The genus is so varied and strange and rewarding!
Thanks, truly. I just got a Bulb. Lion King X Anandelei and it has something like 18 leaves/bulbs. One thing I learned is that once they start to bloom, you cannot move them. I do not know how people even get them to shows! If you move them, the flower "set" goes all over the place and they look awful! I am going to try to grow them in rockwool.
Hi Wade, I just purchased a Bulbophyllum Thiurum, it is coming bare-rooted. Any suggestions on how to pot it?. I would rather pot than make another styrofoam mount, but will do so if you suggest. What is your advice? Thanks
It's no problem to pot it. Almost all of them like to creep out of pots but having roots exposed doesn't seem to bother them. Remember that you never want more than about 2" of media as their roots don't penetrate more than that. Decide what pot you're going to use and fill with styrofoam peanuts, lava rock, or other drainage material so there is room for about 2" of sphagnum moss. I usually take the plant and work the moss around the roots to form a ball and then stuff the whole thing into the pot. Then work around any places that don't have enough moss. I do not pack it tight but just so there is a good amount of "springiness" to the moss. Then just keep it moist. btw, you can send me emails directly to wadeh1954@gmail.com or use the "Contact" tab on my web site.

Wow! I have the Medusii and Persius too! That's strange because is so odd! I keep mine in a flat dish with drainage.

Thanks very much for the video! Do you mean when you say Bulbophyllum all of the sub-genera for example Adelopetalum and Oxysepala from Australia?
I can't keep up with the crazy botanists. They keep moving everything around. A species is what it is. I was just using info from Bill Thoms.
+Wade's Orchids ok :)
