Hello Celine,
I’ve learned that flying at night in Open Category is allowed. But a green light is required on the drone so you don’t break the VLOS rule.
I’m from Belgium to btw 😉
Hey Fellow patriot ! Adding a green light to the drone...like a phosphorescent sticker ?
@@Celineonyoutube No an actual lightsource (LED)
A complex topic well explained. I have to worry about hitting moose .
Thank you Paul ! Lol, oh I'm sure you will be flying higher than Moose's height ! Have a lovely Monday !
The first video of iCeline in 2021 ! I'm glad to see you back Celine ! good thing you did a video about the new regulations, it was kind of blurry up to now, it sounds like I will try to stay in the A1 category ! The Mavic 2 Air will be perfect for traveling everywhere in Europe ! The drone spot app sounds like something we all should upload in order to be safe ! You have taken off your drone on a boat ! Wow I'm impressed ! Thank you for this easy guide !
Yes ! The first one of 2021 you are right ! I hope 2021 starts on a positive note for you ! The good news about the regulation is that it is getting less complicated from one country to another. And I am sure that you will shoot some fantastic videos with your Mavic Air 2 ! Where is your next destination?
@@Celineonyoutube if covid19 wasn't preventing me from traveling, I would definitely go to Marseille !
Thanks for the clear explanation for us Europeans..... Greetz from a fellow belgian.... 😎💪
Hey! Thanks for your comment ☺️ I’m sure as a Belgian you must be happy with the new regulations!
Didn't fly much with my Mavic Mini yet.....
Excellent video iCeline! I had flashbacks to sections of an online FAA Course I took ALC-451,Part 107 Small UAS Initial - Part 61 Pilots. Dropping another LIKE on your video! Watching and Supporting!
Thanks for the informative video! You mention I have to take tests at the drone school for my DJI Mavic Pro 2. What is a drone school? Can I do that once I get to Europe? I'm currently in Medellin, Colombia and plan to fly to Europe in August.
You can take an online course in the country where you want to use it. You only have to do it once. For example, if you go to France, try to take the test online on the French official site. I hope it will let you take the test in english. All official (government) sites should have the info and the link to take the test online and register your drone. Happy holidays !
@@Celineonyoutube thank you for the response! Okay, so I won't have to worry about the drone being confiscated at the border if I haven't registered it yet?
I don’t think they will but why don’t you take the test online prior to your holiday in Europe? It will be easier that way. At least you’ll have your registration number and the online diploma.
fab Celine! Thanks for this I never would have known the laws have changed! Is there any talk of the Mavic mini specifically? I mean because of its low weight?
From dark & frosty Ireland! ☘️☮️🤘🏽🤠👍🏽☮️☘️
Hey Sonny, I'm glad my video is helpful to you ! Well, the Mavic Mini is in the Class A, "Open" Category meaning, you have to register your drone online and take a small test online as well (more infos in the video of course). Then you'll be ready to travel with your Mavic Mini everywhere in Europe Lucky you ! Oh trust me, it's dark and frosty here too ! I'm SO looking forward to Spring ! Have a lovely Monday evening
Until you want to maintain permanent eye contact with your drone, you need a permission.
Background music sounded like we were storming into Mordor for a epic final battle
Lol ! So true ! 😂😂😂 Epic battle !
Welcome back! More regulations mean less liberty 🐾
Thank you 😊❤️Well it depends, in Belgium we couldn’t do much without a permit. Now with the EU regulations we have a little more liberty, pretty much what I need to be happy 😃
As I got it, you still need a permit to virtually everything. With exception of a rare cases where you just lift of, hover around yourself at low speed and land.
Only use case I can imagine is to take selfie.
Want to fly behind a tree? You need a permission.
Want to speed up? You need a permission.
Want to build a drone over 250 g? You need a permission.
Thanks for the video! I'm moving to Netherlands and I have a mini3 pro, so I want to know all rules to fly according to the law! Thanks!
Have fun with your mini 3 pro ! There are some amazing horizons and landscapes in the Netherlands
big fan from Bangladesh ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for your support my friend ! Cheers from Belgium

Hi Celine, this is very helpful, just one question,i have a mavic pro,can it still be considered in A1?if i need to take a test, can you pls share the website where i can take the test?merci
Thank you for this Celine. Good thing I found your video. I have read already some info about flying a drone here in Belgium but in the end I got confused :-D . I am planning to buy a Mavic Mini 2 for my vlogs. Looks like I really have to register it and take that online test.
Hey Vic, so sorry, it seems like youtube didn't show some comments...I only see yours now. I hope you are having fun vlogging and using your drone. Which one did you buy in the end?
Nice video Celine!
Thank you George ☺️
Very nice and clear video. And I learned there's was an app, it can be very useful indeed 👍🏼
Hi I will be travelling across France Switzerland Italy & Greece. I will be carrying a small drone like mavvic air 2s. I want to take videos of the beautiful sceneries. What do i need to do as a tourist??
Hey, it seems like youtube didn't show some comments...I only see your comment now. I hope you had a wonderful time in Europe. You need to register your drone + test online. Go to one of the government sites and pass the test (if your drone is over 250 gr) and don't forget to check their sites for extra regulations in the country you will be visiting; have a fun holiday !
Very well explained. .well done ..👍

lol exactly ! I have a few ones in mind 😎
Mavic Air 2 fits the Bill for sure, But a clear guidance on carrying drones as a hand luggage would be big thumbs up as few airlines requires you to inform them in advance if you carry one.
Thanks Iceline ,have a great day :)
My mavic pro 2 is just slightly over 😭
i dont know why i am so in love with your English accent 🤗🤗
Me neither lol ;-)
Hi! Thank you for your detailed summary!
Can you give us an advice for worldwide drone rules? We are a traveller couple and we tried to collect informations about drone rules in different (worldwide) countries but it isn't that easy :).
So do you know any source (blog, page, yt channel) where we can find up-to-date informations about different countries restrictions (use, india, australian etc) and airlines rules?
Hello! Can i bring my mavic mini to spain? I have fly certificate from Netherlands. Thanks
Yes of course you can ! Just follow the EU and Spanish rules (depending on the regions they have their own rules too, check out their site for more infos).
Very Good
Thank you ! :-)
Hi there! Love the video! I just have one question I’m going to Paris next week and I checked the map and it’s of corse in the red zone, does that mean I can’t fly the drone at all?
Hey Ola, you can’t fly in the red zone and if all Paris is in the red zone (which I’m pretty sure it is) it means that you won’t be able to fly without consent of the city and other agreements
Hi Celine ! I am a belgian guy living in costa rica but soon visiting belgium for some time. I recently bought a new drone, my first one, an air 2S and will try it in belgium. Aside registration there and the small online test is there something else i need to take into account ? Also i heard that in 2 years in 2023 my drone needs to have a C marking ? My drone probably does not have that … what happens if my drone will not have that marking ? I cannot imagine all these drones suddenly cannot be used anymore ? Was it a bad purchase then to use it in belgium ? Can you give me some advise please ? That would be great ! Salut Philippe ;-)
Hey Philippe! You definitely should download an app that allows you to check if the spot you have chosen to fly your drone is a safe one. I’m sorry if I didn’t reply before (I was sure I did!). You’ll definitely be on the safe side. I also agree with you, DJI isn’t making drones that won’t fit into the new EU rules. That’s why I have bought it 😁
@@Celineonyoutube hi Celine thanks for your answer ! so you dont think that my drone recently purchased will have issues from 2023 in Belgium/Europe, even as it will not have the required classification marking (as purchased before 2023) ? You think there will be an excepcion made ? Or maybe we will get a sticker to put on the drone ?
Thanks for the informative video! I live in Norway, which now have the same regulations. I took the course online and got sertified this weekend. But here we are alllowed to fly at night, and I belive it will be legal in Europe as well?
Hey Bjorn ! RUclips didn't seem to show your comments until now, I am very sorry for my late reply. All drones put on the market (with a class identification label) to be operated in the open category will be equipped with a green flashing light to be used during night operations.
For the specific category, starting from 2 December 2021 drones operators will be required to use drones with green flashing light when operating during night below 120m. EASA States may decide for security reasons to forbid some operations (including night operations) in some areas.
@@Celineonyoutube OKEY - thanks for the info!

Very interesting to consider for my next travel. So A1 doesn't need any online tests right?
Sorry for my late reply Otto. Well, the A1 does need an online test :-)
@@Celineonyoutube could you help me? Where can i find online test?
Hi Celine , great video congrat ulations , can you kindly share the link where to register a drone it's very confusing , I am planning to buy a drone 500 gr of weigh, many thanks !!!!
Good summary! A bit boggling of course... governments seem to enjoy the complications.
Hahaha that’s very true Don! Hopefully when you’ll come visiting you’ll be able to use easily your drone here in Europe 😎👌wishing you a lovely day
Hi im going to switzerland next week, is there anything i should be aware of flying a mavic air 2s?
Hello I'm wondering why you were showing Britain ( who are no longer part of the EU and from what we are hearing what nothing to do with us in the EU)
Yet you don't show Ireland who is part of the EU?
love your content keep it up
im from the netherlands what will you suggest me if a i want to star a profession as a dron operator ?
hi. this information is very good. can you tell me what the VLOS Distance is?
This is 2021 century. You should be able to do it all online with drone simulator
Stupid rules and only cause governments are afraid we uncover their dirty secrets 🙈🙈🤣 anyway i registered my drone and have put the reg number on it, then i tried to do the test and that does not work yet due covid the site with the lessons and online exam doesn’t work. As usual they make a rule but are bit ready to give us the correct information and cources
😆Oh no! That’s too bad ! One of my friend took the test this week end , and it was working. Hopefully they will find what the problem was. Thanks for stopping by! ☺️ have a wonderful week!
@@Celineonyoutube Hey from Germany, do you know how much time it takes here to get registration id after giving test and uploading documents on portal?
This video did not cover self built freestyle drones. As I understand
Yes, for self-built drones, it entirely weight which matters, because such drones will not have a "C" classification marking on them.
The "A" sub-categories (A1, A2 and A3) of the Open category of flying are really to do with the degree of risk involved and take into account BOTH the weight (or C marking) of the drone AND where the drone is being flown (in relation to people and property). So the A1 sub-category is classed as "low risk" even though it allows flying over or near people, because the weight of drone is the smallest. Sub-category A3 is also considered "low risk" because, even though drones up to 25kg can fly in this sub-category, it is for flying well-away from people. Sub-category A2 is "more risk than A1 and A3", being closer to people, but with a moderate-weight drone and requiring a higher level of pilot proficiency.
Greetings from Sardinia Italy, have you news regarding uk and Easa for the European drone regulation 2021? thanks. I learned that the uk a1 a3 open category certificate is valid for all european member states
great video! i'm still finding it a little confusing, if my drone is 249g is it easier in spain than over 250g? thanks!
Thank you Julian! In Spain or everywhere else in Europe it is easier to fly with your 249 gr drone than with a heavier one.
@@Celineonyoutube thanks loads, i flew it in spain with no problems!
My drone is under 250 gr do I need to register in Croatia? I am coming from Canada but also hold a Croatian passport. Dual citizenship
Thanks
Thanks for Video! Well I live in Belgium too and I recently bought MAVIC AIR 2. Can you send me link how to register or get license?
Hey Susan, you should go to the official site in Belgium (DGTA). good luck !
Thank you
Great vid, I have just done the EASA course and have a LUX Registration number. Can I fly in Spain? The Spanish love bureaucracy,is there anything else I need to put in place to fly there?
Hey Tim :-) Congratulations on having your freshly diploma (did you take the test after you followed the courses?). As for Spain, you should go to their website and see what are the restrictions. As each country can have their own restrictions. You should go on their website : www.enaire.es
Bonjour. If I wanted to take the test to be certified by EASA is the test online? I have my FAA certification in the U.S. but always take my drone to Europe and want to be compliant.
Sorry Renaud I thought I replied to your comment. Well depending on the weight of your drone : there is a test online for recreational use of drones under 900 grams. I took my test on the belgian site, the EASA refers to every country's site on his own main site. I hope I was helpful
Hi Celine, Could you please post the link for drone registration in Italy? can't find it anywhere. TIA
Is this still valid as of Jan 2023? Or they updated the laws?
Hi, can I bring my dji mavic air 2 to THAILAND? I have a fly certificate from the Netherlands .
Hey, you should definitely check out Thailand’s drone regulations before taking your drone with you. Thailand isn’t a part of Europe so the regulation is different.
the IAA website (Irish Aviation Authority) which is EU says:
"As of December 31st 2020, the EU drone Regulation requires all drone operators using any drone over 250 grams, or those with a camera or sensor to be registered."
with open/specific/certified a1/a2/a3 you just made it confusing for me... :)
And when will dji upgrade all the dones to comply with the new regulations? Not interested in buying a dji drone today to only be able to use it in a transitional class for 2 years.
idk tbh...what about fpv racing drones? in swizerland its the most confusing thing in the world and rn its impossible to do everything properly.
I am in Portugal and the local police just flew a drone over my property, hovering for several minutes at upper window level of my house. They then flew it over our heads. Is this legal?
What about the drones lighter than 250 grams? I thought i don't need any type of certificate or permission for that..
You don’t need to take the test online but it’s better if you do. It lasts 5 years
Do I still have to register my drone and do a questionnaire if the drone is less than 250 grams?
It’s not an obligation but it’s always better to pass the test (it’s online and you can take it anytime you like).
@@Celineonyoutube Can you share the links where to take test and register the drone. I have a Mavic mini
You do not register your DRONE. You register YOURSELF as the owner (or "Operator") of a drone. If the drone has a camera, you MUST register, even if the drone weighs less than 250g. Your Operator ID must be visibly marked on your drone. (If you have more than one drone, the same Operator ID is marked on every drone.)
For a drone of under 250g, you do not have to prove any piloting skills or knowledge in order to be allowed to fly the drone. However, if you decide to do the online training and pass the test, you will be issued with a "Flyer ID", which is an entirely separate thing from the Operator ID. You do NOT mark your Flyer ID on your drone.
Hello Celine, great video
I have looked everywhere to register my mavic pro, in Spain, ( preferable to in English ) could you give me a helping hand as I am very new to drones and want to fly but register first, John
If i buy the air 2 would i be able to fly in spain and portugal? I want to fly my drone for recreational purposes
Yes of course you can, check out Portugal and Spain's website for their specifid regulations. Other than that, it's the EU regulations you have to follow.
So i am a little bit confused because the dji drones as of now do not have the C class label which means the air 2 would fall under A2 not A1. This rule applies until the drone has a C label then it will fall under the class C1/A1. My question is are these things strictly regulated in europe? Say i want to fly in the cities
Hey Celine. Get video. Just a question. How would the laws apply to flying an FPV drone indoors in the EU?
Hey David, indoors in a private area is (if I’m not mistaken) allowed. Check out the infos in the country’s website you want to fly your drone.
@@Celineonyoutube Yes, indoors (or inside an area from which your drone can't escape, such as a netted-off space), the rules do not apply.
how do I register with the NAA and take the online test? I can't find the link
Merci pour cet aperçu sur les lois et les drones , mais comment faire pour avoir un drone pour le drone fishing , est ce que c'est possible en Belgique , ou il faut passer ses vacances dans les pays lointains où c'est possible sans tracasseries ? Merci d'avance .
Legolas said the drone was still in his visual periphery.
OMG. Yesterday I bought DJI Air 2S in Germany. It is only 570 grams. I put label with my details, took drone insurance and registered in Ferderal Aviation Department. Can I fly this drone in a place where nobody lives...?

How do I register my drone? I'm flying to Germany in a little over a week and I'd like to bring my Mini 2
You should go on the official site , try the one in Germany for instance (for registration).
what about international visitors, I'm Italian but living in the US, going to Italy for 2 months at the end of January and bringing my Mini 2 with me. Do I need to register it, or myself? I cannot find answers anywhere
Hey, it doesn’t matter what nationality you are. You need to abide to the rules of the country you’ll fly your drone. It is well written that a drone under 250g needs also to register. Check out the Italian site 👌Have fun in Italy. And happy new year!
How to register above 250grams drones in Israel?...
What if you are a tourist?
Fuck this drone regulation!
what about mini 2 with 249 g ? 🤔
Can a US citizen traveling to Europe fly his drone in the OPEN category? How can I get a license?
Hey Gianni, it all depends of your drone. If you a recreational drone you can. Go to the site of the country you want to use your drone and read the requirements. In Belgium you need to register and take a test online (not mendatory but it helps).
Hello! I live in Singapore and will be travelling to Italy soon. I'm using a DJI mini 2 which seems to be in the A1. May I know how can I get myself registered as drone pilot to fly in EU?
Did you ever get your question answered?? It's the same with me. I was thinking on taking my mini 2 to italy.
You need to go to the Italian Aviation Authority web site and register yourself as a drone owner (ie "Operator"). In the UK, this is known as obtaining an Operator ID (it is NOT a Pilot ID, which is a separate thing). An "Operator" is a person who runs, or owns, or maintains a drone. Just like someone might be the registered owner of a car, responsible for its upkeep, but isn't necessarily the person driving it. You need to mark your Operator ID on all your drones.
For a small, sub-250g drone like the DJI Mini 2, you do not need any particular piloting skills (for anything above this, you do), but, as other people have pointed out, it means you will have shown you have an understanding of the rules, and you may need this if you want to get insurance. If you complete the online pilot training and pass the multiple-answer test, you will get a Pilot ID (called a "Flyer ID" in the UK).
Seems like it's pointless to buy a Mini 2 now. I'll go for Air 2.
Why?
There's a lot of point in buying a Mini "x" -- it's a sub-250 g drone, so permitted to go where an Air is not.
What do i need to do to fly a dji mini 2 în belgium?????
????
dji Mini 2 is less than 250 grams. Check the DGTA website and EASA, and my video for the regulations to follow, and you should be fine.
so then, guess i am not getting a drone.
there is no law in europe they learned from canada

Do you recall giving authorisation for CCTV to observe you when walking in the streets?
Hi there, i pass the test online in the uk.. im going to spain in july, do i need to register again and take the test online in spain? @iCeline
Yes. The EU does not recognise UK registrations, even though the rules are identical.
