Entreat me not to leave you
Text adapted from (KJV) Ruth 1: 16-17
16 And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:
17 Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me.
My choir did this. It was breathtaking. I'm a soprano 1, and it made all of us cry. If you do this right, you will be emotionally exhausted after delivering the power in this song. It's heart wrenching, the gorgeous story, I believe from the story of Ruth in the Bible. Her whole family dies, and you put yourself through that in this song. Even in my high school choir, we're all 16, 17, 18, and we were crying.
Many people don't know the story. Its very touching and the way this piece was performed embodied the biblical story of RUTH! So amazingly beautiful and moving! God bless you all !
I used to sing in a choir and we sang this piece as well, and I sang with the sopranos 1s and I fell in love with this, it's amazing. 🥺😍
This is probably of one the most beautiful choral piece of Dan Forest ever written .. Performed amazingly by SLCA and Dr. Brady Allred
Words can't explain how truly beautiful this piece is and to even sing it is a blessing. The power and story of Ruth is just shining through this song. Amazing job Salt Lake Vocal Artist!
I entreat 23 people who disliked this to leave us.
John Fisher LMAO ME TOO
Right?? What on earth?
Wow, this is the most incredible version of this piece! So spiritually and exquisitely done! BRAVO!!
yeah, this is very whitacre-esque and whitacre is overused... but as a choir director.. nothing unlocks the potential of a group like a whitacre piece. that being said, whitacre music is shamelessly overused.
Christopher Jordan Brown there’s a reason Whitacre’s style is “overused.” That is the trademark style of modern music. And it never fails to send chills down my spine. So yeah it’s everywhere nowadays but that’s ok because it elevates choral music to a new level
Written by Dan Forrest
The bass note at the end!
Thank you for sharing this! Incredible! So rich & moving. Brought me comfort on a difficult night. Thank you!
The most beautiful piece of music I ever sang. Such a moving piece.
5000 of the views on this video must be me. This is just so wonderful.
Wonderful singing... it sounds a lot like many other pieces this choir have sung before such as by Eric Whitacre with those (dare I say over used?) close harmonies, dramatic pauses etc.
A choir came to sing this to my school today. It was so beautiful.
My first Choir teacher is in this choir. She was able to have the dedication, dedicated in honor of her marriage. This song carries a lot of power to everyone who knows her.
A beautiful composition and incredibly beautiful performance. I love what I have heard of Dan Forrest's music.
Perfect accompaniment yto Sabbath evening. Thank you.
It would be a joy and an honour to work with this choir one day.
Fantastic. God Bless!
Flawless and powerful
the music for this piece is difficult for sure.
Great video, keep up the killer work!
oh - so lovely!!!!
Der Text und die Musik haben mich sehr berührt, danke!
We are performing this piece next weekend. I'm using this video for home rehearsal. A beautiful piece indeed. Can't wait to hear more from Dan Forrest!
Dan Forrest - 'Requiem For The Living'
A beautiful piece written in 2014 I believe. A mass choir will be performing in Paris for 75th anniversary of D-Day. Dan Forrest is young and one of my favorite composers. We will be singing two of his anthems for Easter Service as well.
Beautiful words...
Yep. Some of the world's greatest poetry is in the Bible, including this. :)
Moving beyond words.....
Absolutely love it!
