Catching up on this and giving a personal interpretation: in the core book when talking about Ghyran, it is mentioned there is an entire island, Kurnotheal, where Kurnoth and his Wild Hunt chase animals far from the eyes of Alarielle. So it is possible the Kurnoth Hunters existed from the age of Myth, but joined the Sylvaneth fray only recently...

I'd like to make a very refined, butlery Spirit of Durthu. He'd give very practical advice, brutally honest and haughty. That sounds like a fun sort of character.
Meanwhile, the Free Spirits present an interesting window into the sort of background elements of such a race as the Sylvaneth. It's very different from something like the Stormcasts, Daughters of Khaine and Nighthaunt and pretty much every other force in the Realms. Alarielle as a keeper of secrets is very interesting, and I feel like those secrets can surely come back to haunt or undermine her. I really want to see some Black Library books for this faction or have one of the major developments of the game proper being something like the Horus Hersey, where factions of Order forces turn on their gods. I feel as though something like that could be building, what with Stormcasts' fear for their souls, Alarielle's horde of information she's trying to "protect" her people from and of course Morathi hiding the fact that Khaine didn't make it out of the Old World. But that might stack the cards way to heavily in evil's favor, so it might honestly be best to refrain from something like that...
All in all though, the subfactions of Sylvaneth are really interesting in how they play with each other, in that they sort of don't at least politically. I'm a big fan of political intrigue, especially in fantasy settings, so a Black Library book or extension to the Sylvaneth Battletome focusing more on the tensions between these groups and staring Alarielle as the one desperately trying to hold the reins would be wonderful. Alas, Black Library always seems content to focus on the headliners... Good thing I love me some Stormcasts.

Would love to have a civil war narrative between tree lords and kurnoth hunters. Would be a cool way to explore and better develop the tension between the two groups and potentially allow for the introduction of kurnoth himself making the roster deeper.

And maybe the Outcasts get in on it?

Would be a good way to really solidify the three groups as either one unified force or as three seperate entities of the same realm/God depending on the final outcome

Why are you giving me reason to change my army with each of your awesome lore videos? My wallet can't take it anymore.

I'd say kurnoth (no idea how it is spelt) is a reference to the Celtic God Cernunnos

Very much so, if you look at an old world incarnation of him or his avatar Orion you can see the similarities.

If you look at real world history, Polytheism was the norm for most of human history. A Greek farmer would pray and make sacrifices to Demeter for good crops, Zeus for rain, the nymphs when out walking the countryside, and Ares if he got conscripted to fight in a war. What a lot of fantasy priests (like D&D Clerics) do is called Monolatry, meaning the worship of only one God while acknowledging others do exist. This seems to be true for most of the Mortal Realms too. The Sylvaneth mainly worship Alarielle, but wouldn't say Nagash or Tzeentch don't exist or aren't Gods.

Honestly, I'm just afraid that GW are having some indecisive feelings regarding Kurnous. It's just as clear a reference as Durthu in my opinion, so it's either a pseudo Khaine situation, or something even better, like Orion or Kurnous persisting in a minor way. After all, he was entangled with a bunch of souls.

Anyone who has done/taken a class in old (somewhat feminine?) religious studies would see a lot of ties between the sylvaneth worship and some of the old "Mother Goddess and the Hunter" stuff, where yes, you worship your mother goddess above all else, but you can worship a sort of mini-less important god, being the hunter. You don't necessarily see him as much, or in some cases don't even recognize him as your god (as a creator, or in this case, recognize him in the pantheon), but hes still there and there is power to be attained in worshiping him.
Now, as with any popular good writing, its probably a mix of this and a lot of other suggestions, but this is just my two cents lol.

Kurnoth was brought up a bunch in the Ghyran lore in the Core Book. Kinda surprised you didn't bring it up in this video.

I'll get to it when I cover Ghyran. I was trying to stick to K. Hunters and Durthus without too long of a rabbit hole.

@@2Tough Aaaaah ok. I thought that might be the case. Just felt like this video would've been a good chance to hype up the Ghyran video, using Kurnoth as a segue between the two

Kurnoth should be the Behemoth model/ leader for the Wanderers. Afterall wasnt his aspect most closely tied with Orion from the old world?
