To be fair, playing that solo on a real guitar with a 65% increase in speed, I doubt that Hermann thought he could archive that without practicing getting up there, probably just created a scene for the fun of comments and to be nice.

Christian D forget his muscle memory. It’s simply not possible to play at the same speed as the GH guitar, which doesn’t have frets or strings. Just 5 buttons and two movements with your right hand (up and down).

I don't think so, the song is originally around 200 bmp, so *1,65 that would be around 300 bpm, there's no human on earth who could do tapping at that tempo sounding cleanly. Very talented guitarrists struggle at ~230 bpm
Possibly but it has nothing to do with changing the tempo. It’s easy to change the tempo if you know how to play or sing. He just hit his limit, and I’m pretty sure he won’t be able to play that fast for a very long time.
idk i play guitar and riffs ive known forever i can play at pretty much any speed that my brain and fingers can handle, speed is relative but 65% faster is kinda insane, idk that anyone in the world would ever be able to play it on a real guitar just bc the notes on a real guitar are a bit farther apart than the 5 on a guitar hero one.
100% no freaking chance. You have no idea how much faster 65% extra is. No way is he playing this song at that speed on a real guitar, nobody on Earth is. GHAddict has some of the fastest hands in the rhythm game scene and you cant play songs anywhere near as fast on a guitar. On Guitar Hero you only have 5 buttons to worry about. I dont think TTFAF is playable on a real guitar at 120% speed either.

I want Herman to make 5 songs that are extremely impossible to play on guitar, rock band. GH. CH etc and make it long and complex idc if its 7 mins 10 mins or 1 hour make it impossible to play on all rhythm games and guitar. He plays some of the notes very well in the beginning but during some transitions he hits so many wrong notes it actually sounds like failing in guitar hero, or maybe like his parents are about to never kiss at the school dance

Herman Li was always in the Clone Hero train and stuff, check it out, this was just matter of time
CONTEXT behind the reasoning for the grind. First thing is yes having a World Record for the fastest Full Combo of Through The Fire and Flames is a major major major achievement. Will, GHAddict, was also grinding his ass off for getting partnered on twitch, and thanks to this, he's received a much higher viewer average on his streams. The drawback is that this grind was not only mentally exhausting, but physically as well. wrist was hurting, arm was hurting especially on that monstrous transition on 2:06, because that's where most of his runs died and has to start over again and again and again. If you go to his previous VODs in his twitch, you can see how horrible of a grind it really was. There was a break from the grind because he did finally get partnered before he FC'ed TTFAF 165%. Right as he got partnered, he wanted to stay away from the grind for a bit. So hopefully this gives you guys a better understanding on the "why" of it. Thank you for featuring him on your channel. He's going to go nuts when he sees this.

If ya got big fingers, bar the 5th fret and play an E chord with your other fingers. It might be easier than fitting them into the standard A position for you.
Don't look for shortcuts. An open A sounds very different to an E shape at fret 5 so it shouldn't be considered an easier alternative. Try playing the open A with just your index finger. If you flatten the right part of your finger you can still have the top E string ring out.

I met Herman once a long time ago at the old Verizon Wireless center in San Antonio, he was in the crowd watching Slipknot, Manson was the headliner. We talked guitars and he was one of the most humble dudes I have ever met. It's awesome to meet an exceptional artist and just have a conversation as you would with someone friendly while waiting for a coffee. Keep up the great work Herman, rock on brother!

Of course. It's mostly motoric reflexes at this point. Considering that he has probably spent thousands upon thousands of tries without going spastic - following the GH notes would be more distracting than watching the chat.
I mean, the GH notes is basically a GUI for those that haven't actually... done it. Or who need practice and a reminder. When you know exactly what clicks you need and in what order, you don't need the visual assistance... particularly because it's pointless. I doubt that many people would be able to follow those notes as it is, he probably memorized it by heart long before he started trying the 165%, after which it was merely adjusting to the speed. His brain was already focused on not missing a beat, if his ocular perception was overloaded trying actually understand and correspond to what he sees - he wouldn't be able to do it. Physically.
Look up maestros like Gould performing Moonlight Sonata. /watch?v=t22E7q8g-TA for example
You think he was turning pages or watching some floating notes at 165% speed while performing that?
Ultimately, however, it's a battle of autism vs skill, and that's not a battle worth comparing any more than apple vs potato. In real world you have to actually pull the strings and apply pressure to strings to produce sound, instead of just clicking a set of buttons and flicking a switch.

I like how this played out like the guitar battles in GH3. The boss gets beaten at his own song and has to endure getting ran over by a killer solo to win the battle.
Or the opposite.
Herman doesn't beat the boss in time (GHAddict) and has to hear him play an insane solo with the insane speed slowly draining his mentality (Death Drain) causing him to throw his highly expensive PRS which then causes the loss.
I would imagine if the guy put that many hours into practicing a Dragonforce song on Guitar Hero at that difficulty and speed he must be a big fan. Otherwise why go to all that trouble? That had to be a huge undertaking to do. So I would think that would make Herman proud that fans do crazy things like this because of his music.

It's amazing what GHaddict is able to pull off and it shows for how long he has attempting it. Herman honestly shouldn't feel bad because it's still not the same. If someone was able to play TtFaF at 165% on a real guitar, then that simply means this was a harder feat to accomplish. You just have to understand that there is more involved than just speed. That being said, I also think that GHaddict most certainly has put up a tremendous amounts of hours playing just exactly that, so I'm not throwing shade at him. Kudos for him for accomplishing what he did! All I'm saying is that it is "easier" to reach higher speeds when you can ignore most of the vertical and horizontal movement as well as picking placement precision, which is what a lot of people misunderstand when they see "oh hes faster". Don't get me wrong, it's still nothing short of astounding to get to that level. I just can't stomach the one-dimensional people who think "he is better than the real deal just because he plays this specific song faster."
I don't think that anyone doubts that.

The gamer only has 5 notes ....he has a whole guitar and 6 strings...
Also, frets, palm mutes, pinched harmonics, tremolo, legato and sweep picking. You can't put all the the guitars articulation into 5 buttons. It's actually pretty insulting to compare what a gamer can do with a plastic controller to a dicisplined musician that spent decades perfecting his own craft. Btw, lets not forget the amount of dedication and talent it takes in music theory to write a song in any metal genre. Not a single non musician guitar hero player can even attempt to recreate what a real guitar player does.

Herman, to me as a drummer it's incredible you were able to jump RIGHT in and nail it at this new speed. This makes me wonder, do you all practice your songs normally faster?
