Traditional polo bun does not contain any pineapple, it got the name because of its looks so it should not have any pineapple taste...

i'm from hk and bolo buns are not supposed to have any pineapple in it! they get the name from the "cookie" topping which should be sweet, buttery, slightly crispy and not fall off the fluffy bread

So Good Bakery has the best bang for your buck bolo bun in Singapore. Hands down. $1.30 for a consistently fluffy, crumbl-ish crust. Champions is delish, but soooo expensive for a piece of bun. Plus their egg tarts are solid.

which polo bun would you recommend? For me, I felt Crystal Jade gave me the closest taste to HK polo bun. Joy Luck is a bit expensive. I've never tried the Champion Polo Bun...

Proper bolo buns should be eaten freshly baked from oven with a slab of butter in the middle! Still remembered the best one I tried was at Kam Wah Cafe & Bakery, Mongkok. There's no actual pineapple in it LOL
