I wouldn't say that.
But I would say that Steve loved and preferred the rootsy, R&B-oriented side of Bruce, and encouraged him to emphasize that aspect of his music, rather than the jazzy approach he sometimes took early on, or the Dylanesque thing he did intermittently.
