I loved how they made Penguin much more relentless in this game compared to other media he is portrayed in. He wanted to capture famous heros and villains and put them in his museum haha.
"I was only here for the hostages, but down I'm taking you down tpo". Only the great Kevin Conroy can make that line even more badass than it already is.
What I love bout Batman is that every character has his own motives and influences over his actions, some other villains and characters in other series are just plain with no depth.
I always felt bad that Penguin's crew ends up getting massacred by Joker and Dent's gangs. I was more intrigued by the thugs working for Cobblepot than them. Plus, his crew wasn't full of psychopaths like the other gangs in Arkham. Also, it always bugged me how Batman suddenly started talking slower and deeper when talking to Penguin. It kinda slowed the game down and made me roll my eyes. "You're. Not. Giving. Orders. Here. Any. More. Cobble. Pot." Like Jesus Batsy, speed things up ffs.
Few characters have power fluctuations as much as Grundy. Capable of going toe to toe against Superman on some occasions and on other occsions can actually be hit and hurt by Batman's punches.
@Ultimate Hedgehog this isn't something exclusive to Arkham. There are versions of him that have him at Bane Level, and then other versions like Superman level a huge difference
nolan north the legendary voice of nathan drake from uncharted series and desmond miles from assassin's creed series did a great job voicing penguin in this amazing game lol
I like how Penguin's not just some goofy little guy obsessed with penguins, but he's real. There are people like him in the world that would do the stuff he does, smash a guys hand after its' dipped in sub zero temps. There are sick people in the world and Arkham city shows that. I love this game :P
JOHN BOKO SHOW Finally I managed to get through it. But right after that I bought Arkham Knight and finished that in like a week. I just have half the riddler trofies left
JOHN BOKO SHOW Yea I fricking loved Arkham Knight. Never actually played Arkham Origins but I've watched it on youtube. I kinda like the story actually. Especially the Mr Freeze DLC
@GrowTheTruth Thank you...that's pretty sweet, I always love the back stories of all the villians. Arkham Asylum was a history lesson in Batman lore and legacy and I can't wait for more.
He breaks it in a way where the bone doesn't break the skin, all the blood loss is internal. It's not shock because he knocks them unconscious so they don't feel the pain until the wake up.
@comicbookfan90 1. Its called a Artificial Larynx it gives the penguin more character and you can tell he smokes alot. 2 . Makes the penguin look more human than a mutant. 3 .Not australian its a Cockney accent hes speaking.
@Evolfurnace He got that name in the comics because he had a great affection for birds, the name Penguin was a mocking name he was bullied with (because he was fat and little), so he decided to use the name to make it into something people feared. It has nothing to do with penguins.
The more I learn what roles Nolan North has done the more surprised I am! Assassin's Creed's Desmond, Uncharted's Drake hell even Young Justice's Superman and Superboy are similar voices, but that's not to downplay the talent. This Penguin looks to be awesome.
@TheFallout48 Will Grey from Dark Void, Elliot Salem from Army of Two the 40th Day, The Prince from Price of Persia, Sergant John Forge from Halo Wars, The Male Hero From Fable 2, Jason Fleming from Shadow Coplex also ....
@unknownlight927 The story is penguin refused to move and so strange had the prison pretty much built around his place. So probably grundy was already penguins slave. Though im pretty sure strange knows he is there.
Grundy is an original Batman Villain, it's just DC comics adapted him to different comics because he was a very powerful villain. Powerful enough to stand on toes with Superman and Hawkgirl.
I don't know, There are so many amazing games coming out later this year. Between Gears of War 3, Rage, Batman: Arkham City, Uncharted 3, Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 I really have no idea which one will be Game Of The Year
@TheDK301 He's a zombie supervillian that came from a swamp near Gotham City and he's known to work with the Injustice League or go solo. He made his first appearance in the All-American Comics #61 in October during the year 1944. There have been many versions made of him throughout the DC Universe, too many for me to list. But that's basically what he is. If you want more information go to WikipediaI. I hope this information helped.
@Mazmorrero2 Actually, in the Long Halloween and Dark Victory (by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale), two of the pure Batman classics, Grundy fights Batman while living in the sewers and appears with many of the more traditional Batman foes like Two Face, Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, and the Penguin (in probably his least genteel appearance)
I definitely like how dark they went with Penguin: the whole bottle shoved in his eye which can't ever be removed surgically... tbh I didn't see the difference at first...mind you I am short sighted and have lost my glasses recently...maybe a bottle eye would do me good too?
@SneakingViper No shit, I was talking about why he was called Penguin in THIS universe, not the comics. In the comics he still had bird-like mannerisms.
@Neojester15 That would have been awesome! But to be fair to the developers; I like how the Penguin is portrayed in this game. He actually does show a bit of Danny DeVito's Penguin in his personality. Arkham City's Penguin is the second grittiest version of the Penguin I've seen next to Batman Returns.
Grundy appeared in the Batman story "The Long Halloween" and a few smaller appearances since then but I agree he is more of a Green Lantern and Justice Society villain. What I want to know is Why Grundy is in Arkham City. Does Strange even know he is there or was he a prisoner of Penguins even before Arkham City was created. :)
With Arkham Asylum, Rocksteady took a huge risk developing a title like that with the batman name behind it. It seemed like it was destined to fail, like all other batman games. But, with its limited funding, they cranked out my favorite game of all time. Can't wait for Arkham City because now they have some serious money behind them and can subsequently push out a better game. If you thought Arkham Asylum was the batman game we deserved, just wait until the 18th.
@TheSevenCamels They were kind of going for a more realistic approach. Like its still a fantasy comic book world, but a bit more realistic. Hence why the bosses aren't fought in the conventional sense as guys like Penguin, Riddler and Two-Face rarely get into fistfights with Batman. And lets face it, if Penguin had started flying around with an umbrella, it would've been too goofy for the game.
Joker's henchman were surprisingly easy while Penguin on the other hand were perhaps the hardest in the game, he had a Titan, Solomon Grundy, Those Rado transmission breaker, etc! I felt like I was gonna be stuck on Penguin's level forever (I was playing it on hard mode).
@tjgamervids well in one graphic novel he was in the sewers of gotham (a long halloween) and batman had to deal with him each time he went into the sewers so I guess that got him recognized enough to be in here
@Evolfurnace I agree, would personally have prefered if they had dressed him in a tattered tux, which in the comics is his trademark suit, and which gives him some penguin-like appearance. But generally I am impressed with the Penguin in this gameverse, and was never a big fan of the bird noises that he has made in the tv series. His noise and body plus the tux should be the only "Penguin" like features IMHO.
I like this rendition of the Penguin, IMO(and I dont mind if anyone disagrees Its an opinion) He's a more formitable opponent. He's cut throat, real badass, I can see why other criminals would fear and respect him. This Penguin reminds me of the Loanshark in the Movie "Unleashed" featuring Jet Li!
@piskiewendigo Bane is confirmed and there's a 90% chance of him being in the game (Killer Croc toy figure spotted at a game-event and there's a sewer chase in AC).
"Penguin's an animal."
Yes, thank you for that lesson in zoology.
10 years late, but this was still funny as hell.
Love this portrayal of the Penguin. Mr.Cobblepot isn't screwing around here. Cool to see the Iceberg Lounge and the surprise reveal at the end.
I just love the batsuit here, it's the best rendition I've seen... classic style, yet tactical and armoured :3
Couldn‘t said it better🎯
"Penguins an animal"
Well done, penguin is an animal, this guy knows everything about penguins!
Time flies it's almost 6 years old
Arkham Origins is 6 years old City is 8 years old now.
@So It Is Written make it 10
@@mikephelps9238 Not there yet
It's gonna be 10 in October :'(
12 years now mate 😔
Batman's such a boss he doesn't even flinch when a fist size of his chest comes flying at him.
I like this Penguin. He reminds of a gangster from a Guy Ritchie movie. He's more badass than he was from the animated series.
What I love bout Batman is that every character has his own motives and influences over his actions, some other villains and characters in other series are just plain with no depth.
Me too!
SOLOMON GRUNDY!!!!!
I always liked the "gone straight" version of the Penguin best, but this guy is pretty great too.
joker, twoface,mr.freeze, catwoman, riddler and now penguin holy shit this going to be awesome
Few characters have power fluctuations as much as Grundy.
Capable of going toe to toe against Superman on some occasions and on other occsions can actually be hit and hurt by Batman's punches.
@Ultimate Hedgehog this isn't something exclusive to Arkham. There are versions of him that have him at Bane Level, and then other versions like Superman level
a huge difference
penguin is one of my favorite villains.
"I THINK HE BROKE MY BLOODY HAND!"
nolan north the legendary voice of nathan drake from uncharted series and desmond miles from assassin's creed series did a great job voicing penguin in this amazing game lol
"you're here for the cops or me".
I like how Penguin's not just some goofy little guy obsessed with penguins, but he's real. There are people like him in the world that would do the stuff he does, smash a guys hand after its' dipped in sub zero temps. There are sick people in the world and Arkham city shows that. I love this game :P
Im the best villain
Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot yes
Joker is still better one eye bird brain.
Condiment King: am I a joke to you?
No where near, bird brain, no where near...
@@Rpr1580 Every over villian: Yes
the pengüin is villian favorite
+MR pingüin Is Penguin's coat made of leather or wool? I could never figure it out...
Yes
MR pingüin In Arkham City? It's leather?
This part of the game is soo hard! I've been stuck on it for like 2-3 years!!! I wish I was joking...
JOHN BOKO SHOW Did you play it?
I actually screamed with joy a little when I saw soloman grundy :D
I literally cannot wait for this to come out!
Nolan North is everywhere.
I wasn't too psyched for Mr. Freeze's look, but Penguin's is frikin' epic. Looks like Danny DeVito's Penquin.
I can't believe they incorporated so parts of Batman No Man's Land series. Can't wait to play it out.
I never thought they could make the penguin scarier than the joker. I am in shock.
@GrowTheTruth Thank you...that's pretty sweet, I always love the back stories of all the villians. Arkham Asylum was a history lesson in Batman lore and legacy and I can't wait for more.
Definitely, they did a great job with the history of the characters in Arkham Asylum and the other games as well!
He breaks it in a way where the bone doesn't break the skin, all the blood loss is internal. It's not shock because he knocks them unconscious so they don't feel the pain until the wake up.
i love how the penguin says: i got a little suprise for you down there
@meticulator Sure but Burton's imaging of Penguin is much more evil and brilliant! He still wore Top hats and suits and such but he looked scary.
At the end when Batman does not flinch, he is probably thinking to himself: "Been there, done that."
@comicbookfan90
1. Its called a Artificial Larynx it gives the penguin more character and you can tell he smokes alot.
2 . Makes the penguin look more human than a mutant.
3 .Not australian its a Cockney accent hes speaking.
i loved how they used the voice actor for the hulk, for solomon grundy
My favorite penguin voice actor was the one from batman animated series
@Evolfurnace He got that name in the comics because he had a great affection for birds, the name Penguin was a mocking name he was bullied with (because he was fat and little), so he decided to use the name to make it into something people feared. It has nothing to do with penguins.
This game is always the best, and greatest game I have ever played!
I love how Solomon Grundy tries to punch Batman at the end, and Batman doesn't even flinch. Badass
This was the best batman game EVER!!
The more I learn what roles Nolan North has done the more surprised I am!
Assassin's Creed's Desmond, Uncharted's Drake hell even Young Justice's Superman and Superboy are similar voices, but that's not to downplay the talent.

It came out like 5 years ago.
@TheFallout48 Will Grey from Dark Void, Elliot Salem from Army of Two the 40th Day, The Prince from Price of Persia, Sergant John Forge from Halo Wars, The Male Hero From Fable 2, Jason Fleming from Shadow Coplex also

Am I the only one who has never seen the arm break, leg break, and electric fence take down that he uses in this?
@unknownlight927 The story is penguin refused to move and so strange had the prison pretty much built around his place. So probably grundy was already penguins slave. Though im pretty sure strange knows he is there.
Grundy is an original Batman Villain, it's just DC comics adapted him to different comics because he was a very powerful villain. Powerful enough to stand on toes with Superman and Hawkgirl.

It was way cool how batmans armor has the mark from when 2 face shot him in the beginning of the game
I guess you could say that penguin
*puts glasses on*
Is short tempered
@313ksmith ...He was either conjured, created, or bought on the Black Market. Take your pick...
"I was only here for the hostages, but now, I'm taking YOU down too!"
He's taking the hostages down? Lame. haha
i think its it's funny how batman refuses to kill but has no problem snapping people's limbs like toothpicks
Creepy how Penguin has a huge, one-armed henchman, and so does the Joker. (Mr. Hammer?)
Anything is 10x more awesome with Nolan North's voice = Fact
man the penguins voice is very different then i expected
I definitely like how dark they went with Penguin: the whole bottle shoved in his eye which can't ever be removed surgically... tbh I didn't see the difference at first...mind you I am short sighted and have lost my glasses recently...maybe a bottle eye would do me good too?
@SneakingViper No shit, I was talking about why he was called Penguin in THIS universe, not the comics. In the comics he still had bird-like mannerisms.
Guy: Penguin's An Animal
Batman: What tipped you off, Sherlock?
@MrZorokatana It's all one big mix of stealth, intense combat, and challenging puzzles.
Hopefully there'll be a section where we have to fight off wave after wave of harmless penguins. Or maybe even... Titan penguins?
@SneakingViper Yes. I liked his character but didn't really see a reason for him to be called 'Penguin'.
-The Penguin's an animal!
-Yes. Yes it is. A bird.
the penguin: his voice annoys me but his badassery is epic
"A penguin is a bird that cannot fly! I am a man! I have a name... Oswald Cobblepot!"
For some reason this penguin reminds me of a mix of Burgess Meridith and Danny Davitos penguin.
@TruGouki sure it does. Do you think Batman likes the Penguin?
the penguin is voiced by nolan north. AKA nathan drake from uncharted, desmond from assassin's creed, and every other character in any game EVER.
Can't believe Nolan North is doing penguin, you wouldn't tell it's him!
Penguin was badass in this game. Froze a cops fingers then smashed it with a hammer, then says to the inercom "His whole bloody hand explodes"
@Sububababa
They weren't hostages, they were Penguin thugs. The guy Penguin shot when you first saw him was a hostage.
His new moves are awesome!
Batman looks like he's in the offseason.
the funny thing about this is that its Nolan North doing the voice who also does Deadpool =)

if rocksteady would put all this skill and knowledge into makin a justic league or a superman game it would be off the hook
No escape? None of them seem to understand. He's not locked in there with them. They're locked in there with HIM.
@tjgamervids well in one graphic novel he was in the sewers of gotham (a long halloween) and batman had to deal with him each time he went into the sewers so I guess that got him recognized enough to be in here
I love how the penguin got that Cockney geezer type feel to him.
me too.love penguin.
Wow... They totally made Penguin badass.... Who would have thought?
Penguin: "And today, 'best' means ooevuh can kill (pauses for dramatic effect) YOU!
Thug: Um, can I just take the written exam?
Geez, Nolan North doesn't sound like himself. That's awesome!
Treasure hunter, assassin, zombie slayer, now a Batman villian. Dang....
I would hate to be the guy who cleans up Grundy's cage after he goes to the bathroom
Penguin with a rocket launcher...I was expecting something like an umbrella that shoots a grenade...or something.
October cant come quick enough.
I can't decide if i am more excited for this or assassins creed revelations they both look sick
I like this rendition of the Penguin, IMO(and I dont mind if anyone disagrees Its an opinion) He's a more formitable opponent. He's cut throat, real badass, I can see why other criminals would fear and respect him. This Penguin reminds me of the Loanshark in the Movie "Unleashed" featuring Jet Li!
holy shit, I just noticed the guy who's holding the cop by the throat is missing his right arm.

Woah, didn't realise this version of Penguin would be based on Rupert Murdoch!
