I do believe that despite all the wonderful fantastic people that are no longer with us, Tim, Barry, Humph, Linda, Jeremy, Graeme and others, this remains a beacon of fun and happiness in a troubled world and I think Jack Dee does a wonderful job as chair with of course Sven and Samantha on his hands!
And don't worry, I know that you meant to mention the man without whom the show would score no hits at all. I refer to the production's key plonker, the bloke who fires up the laser display board. Oh and mæstro Colin ought to get a nod I s'pose.
Such beautifully, brilliantly and cleverly written and improvised comedy. In the same sort of vein as the two Ronnie’s. Very very clever comedy. This is quintessential British humour at its absolute best.
Some of the best laughs I’ve ever had were listening to ISIHAC, back in the day. Samantha, Lionel Blair, Uxbridge English Dictionary, and many more. I miss the people who made it so good.
I remember an account of Samantha's latest boyfriend in which he was said to be 'elderly, and rather mean, but Samantha says if she butters him up in the right way he still splashes out occasionally'. The audience laughed for 33 seconds!
I had the same thought. I had the immense pleasure and privilege of meeting and working with Barry Cryer a year or so before he died. He was kind, self-deprecating and of course, heart-stoppingly funny. I hear that Willie R, Humph and Tim BT were equally brilliant. This is still the funniest show on the radio. Anywhere.
Sometimes on a saturday i look for these type of shows on the radio , takes me back to Adrian juste on a saturday in the 70s or Steve Wright in the afternoon in the 80s
They would not get away with the "picaninny" gag in current Cancel Culture regardless of no intent to refer to the true meaning and usage of the word. The black players would not be offended but the professional-offence-takers-on-somebodies-behalf would.
You might have been forgiven for misspelling his name once, but it is hilarious that you still haven't managed to get it right even when presumably making an especial effort. It's LYTTELTON.
Oh nooo ! What happened to the Video of Humph's last show ? And what happened to "Gene Wilder Loses His Shit ?" Aaaaah I wonder if they are on the "paid for You Tube" ?
If you don't like ISIHAC then you ain't proper English. I'm sure my French neighbours are confused by outbursts of random cheering from Chateau Ystadcop.
As a listener from the late 1980s I'd say the shows of today are even sharper..... It has moved in-line with the culture.... some of Jack Dee's reposts as host are so pithy and well-timed that you'd think they were unscripted/ improv.
@@davidhull1481 They do have a point and I'd suggest that it's not bellyaching whatever that may mean. Times move along as is right and unstoppable, but there's a huge Lyttleton sized hole which no amount of dour jibes from Dee can, or should be expected to, fill. Humph's throw caution to the wind schoolboy humour is unbeatable and his timing and mellifluous delivery sans pareil.
Climb off the soap box mate. I am on of those minorities and I find the jokes funny. There is a difference between humour and saying something to hurt.
How I miss Humph! Glorious, timeless fun - thank you for posting this!

Graeme is still alive, & he's had his tea.
Radio heaven@@BernardSamson-hf6fc
Timeless, inspired and brilliant
It's hard to believe that Willy Rushton was only 59 when he died... He seemed eternal (until suddenly he wasn't).
Such beautifully, brilliantly and cleverly written and improvised comedy. In the same sort of vein as the two Ronnie’s. Very very clever comedy. This is quintessential British humour at its absolute best.
Hardly improvised. Its actually tightly scripted
Thanks for posting this. There hasn’t been a more consistently funny programme in any medium.
Absolutely agree
Definitely. The goons run a close second
@@zapkvr Disagree I'm afraid. All a bit too forced, and over the top. "Around the Horne" takes a lot of beating".
Thanks for that...an absolute joy from start to finish. Lovely.
Though I would get out of a hot bath to turn off the Archers, I would stay in a cold one to finish listening to ISIHAC!
Utter joy. This and the original News Quiz with Alan Coren was essential listening and my ribs were permanently bruised from laughing too much.
Humph had a way with innuendo that was truly unmatched.
'Why didn't he take the bloody children outside?' Humph, The Legend!

Won̈derful silliness. Makes you proud to be British, and still alive.
Pride is a sin. One of the biggies
One of my favourite definitions from the Uxbridge English Dictionary was 'gladiator. an unrepentant cannibal'.
Priceless - one of the many replies from Mrs Trellis of North Wales 😁😁
The best show ever on radio
Truth
I remember an account of Samantha's latest boyfriend in which he was said to be 'elderly, and rather mean, but Samantha says if she butters him up in the right way he still splashes out occasionally'. The audience laughed for 33 seconds!
Ah, Samantha!
really enjoyed that. thank you evie
Wonderful to hear, makes me so sad to see what rubbish we're all in now.
So right
A good laugh. Just what I needed!
Thanks for posting these. They hold up remarkably well.
Quintessentially British, best humour in the world for some reason.
sadly only Graham in this photo is still with us

There was only one Humph 👍👍
Jeremy Hardy’s singing & Barry Cryer’s laugh, wonderful stuff
I still remember the first ever episode as a youngster. Wonnderful stuff!
Thats nothing.i remember the rehearsal.
Side splitting. Pure bliss
\Like the jazz trumpeter he was, Humph had the greatest comic timing of anyone in the whole of human history!
Absolutely hilarious. Fabulous stuff.
Humph : what a legend!
I saw Humph on the last ISIHAC tour he did. So glad I got to see the team.
I love that it’s so so rude. But only if we want it to be. Marvelous stuff.
Sometimes on a saturday i look for these type of shows on the radio , takes me back to Adrian juste on a saturday in the 70s or Steve Wright in the afternoon in the 80s
But these are like chalk and cheese surely?
While I enjoy Jack's Clue, this has re-cemented for me that Littingtons clue was the jewel in the BBC's crown.
Miss em all.
Should be 'Lyttleton'.
I was fortunate to be in the audience of this shows recording. I had no idea it was Humph's last ever show 😢
Yes I love the BBC radio theatre, A Great British Institution.
Love this episode, how times have changed. No fat jokes, no mother in law jokes, no fun. I try to end my day with an episode from ISIHAC.
Thank you.

Haven't listened to clue since Humph died.
Not listened to Just a Minute since Nicholas Parsons passed away.
Not everything has to last forever...
The Beatles released a new single yesterday, November 1st, 2023. And you are right
Jack Dee will never be Humph end of. But he's a great carrier and does a good job at filling the role but that spark isn't the same without Humph
We all miss Humph but Jack is suitably sour and curmudgeonly .
I've collected all the 'Clue' CDs featuring Humph - just a delight!
You're missing out. Jack is just as good, just different.
If you don't like ISIHAC then you ain't proper English.
