    I believe Homeschooling is actually a better way to socialize children. They have to learn to interact with all ages, not just kids in their peer group. They get so many more opportunities to learn and grow, without the fear of not fitting in. When Covid hit, my Grandson school closed in March, and my daughter in law kept him home the following year too. They tested all the students who had been homeschooled prior to allowing them back into school. He tested at a whole grade level above. He told my son he didn’t want to go back to school, he loved being home. He’s reading 2 levels above grade level and reads constantly!

    Best and bravest parenting decision was deciding to homeschool our kids through high school. They are in twenties and thirties now. College educated, married, building families of their own at this point. We actually pulled them out of our Blue Ribbon school district and received heavy push back from friends, family, and our Lutheran pastor. So glad that we were brave and listened to the Lord. Best. Decision. Ever. ETA: You are doing a wonderful job, mama.❤️

    You had the courage of your convictions and you did great. My Mom died when I was a child, I graduated high school early and went to work but I always wanted to go to college. I was married by 19 and when I was in my 40's and my kids were grown I couldn't see myself working menial jobs the rest of my life so I wanted to get a degree. Lots of people said negative things, even the school counselor. But I thought I could do it and my husband and kids backed me. It took me six years but I came away with two science degrees and got a scholarship and several awards. Never underestimate the power of Mama, we know how to get things done.

    My kids have very fond memories of their childhood even though we were soooo broke. We have talked to them about how broke we were, and they have said they dont think they missed out on anything and didn't even realize we were poor.. You just learn to budget what money you do have and find activities that are free or really cheap. We are lucky as our county fair has always had a free day to attend. If you enter items into the fair, you got free admission for the entire week. The rides also had buddy day when you purchased an all-day pass for rides you got one free. Lake days and picnics, fishing days, and picnics. You learn to make it work.

    Poor is a state of mind because children have no idea the meaning of poor . Poverty is when you have no home or income too even feed yourself . Being willing too live on your financial means and willing too make do or get used is not poor . You either work hard within your home or you work hard out of the home too supply your needs . Trusting God is the best guide he gives the desires of your heart for your life. Listening too your inner spiritual self is why the holy Spirit leads you.❤

      Many times we didn't have food at home, other than an old bread. My mum was schizophrenic and dad didn't know how to manage a household. I could definitely tell from the young age, that we are poor, because other kids had toys and clothes and there was a dinner at home, so neighbors would invite me to eat with them.

    You should make a video about how to sleep trained 10 kids to sleep through the night at 8 weeks. I would watch that and recommend it to all my mama friends. Sleep has been such a struggle for my baby

    • @singlemomonafarm
      @singlemomonafarm  22 дня назад

      Ok! Can I borrow your baby? :) I wish I had one to show how I would do it in real time. How I would handle it if she cried after 20 minutes of being asleep, etc. I'll figure out how to do it. My biggest "secret" is that I put them on their tummies. I would get attacked if I shared that probably. But my babies on their backs would flail and wake themselves up. Sleeping on their tummies helped them stay asleep. One baby had torticollis so the doctor "prescribed" her to sleep on her tummy to strengthen her neck. It was such a relief to be "allowed" to let her sleep on her tummy. My other babies I was scared to admit how my babies were great sleepers. I probably have other tips too, but that was the main one. I can't figure out how others get their babies to stay asleep all night on their backs because it didn't work for me. And I needed my sleep to take care of all the other little ones.

    I have been thrifting my wardrobe ever since I left the 9 to 5 (my schedule was more like 8 to 6 or 7) white collar job in 2008. I no longer need suits THANK GOD! I do buy an occasional full price item (just ordered denim overalls online) cuz I could not find them at a local store where I live unless I wanted mens overalls. I do like a lot of mens clothes on me but did not want masculine overalls. Any person can get an entire infant wardrobe at second hand shops. I look at the racks of child clothes and most look fairly worn if ever worn! 1.29 per item for up to age 2 years. I get tired of hearing ppl talking about buying new baby stuff when there is no reason to ever do it! I love your channel and I know if I lived near you we would go thrifting together with your girls! Thanks for being down to earth and not spending stupidly!

    The words you said towards the end of the video are exactly what the group called the National Federation of The Blind say in our one minute message. You can live the life you want. I’m glad things turned out when following your instincts.
    On the contrary, I do feel it is good to take advice from people on occasion. When I went to college I was so happy to be on my own and could care less about what anyone said. I almost got dismissed and one semester had a 0.9 GPA. I’m glad I left that thought process of never listening to anyone.

    • @singlemomonafarm
      @singlemomonafarm  22 дня назад +1

      Oh yes, thank you for clarifying. I take advice from people all the time! I'm constantly asking other farmers around me for advice, friends for decorating or child raising advice, etc. I just meant if what you hear goes against your inner spirit you don't have to follow it. If people tell you you can't hike the Appalachian Trail because you're too old, blind, or it's just too hard, but you have the deep desire to try it, go ahead! Do what feels right to you. I believe God gives us the desires and dreams for a reason. If you try putting them off but they keep coming back, then it's probably something you should do (as long as it's good!) Sorry to hear about your bad grades! Yikes! Funny story.

    Oh my goodness Marcie~ the cicadas & the lighting were lovely! I thought they were the perfect background, sounding like the beautiful nature that is your homestead. Your voice came through clear & concise, and so did your wonderful thoughts, logic & experience with life on your own terms. Absolutely wonderful, every bit of it.🎯*Just as you speak about life & kids & such, your videos do not need to be someone else's version of what works best~ only yours. In your own natural environment, speaking your truth as you know it & live it. I can almost guarantee nobody is watching this channel & hoping for some choreographed production~ far from it.
    You will likely be as successful as you choose if you allow things to unfold as naturally as possibly~ the same way you choose to live & to raise your children. Of course there's some planning & thought that goes into these videos, so you're finding your way with it. No fancy bells & whistles needed, just real life~ with the Lord in charge, & plenty of willing hearts & hands, right?! That's where it's at, & so many people are longing to get back to that, or in some way deepen it in their own lives. Which is why your example is so important, is so valuable. May every effort be blessed, protected and multiplied dear one, in His precious name. Sammy in AZ

I had to stop buying them because his dad didn't like them in the spare room. I wish I would have started buying them from the first test! Now when I get invited to a baby shower I gift 2 boxes of size 3 or 4 diapers. I've been at showers where they get all newborn/1. The baby would grow before they were all used.

    Thank you for sharing. It was very encouraging to hear what you have to overcome. I say overcome because opinions from those you love can hit a little more difficult then other. I’m struggling with that. They mean good but I want to homeschool, I want to stay at home, I want to have 5 or more kids, and I’m ok with what my husband provides. Coming from the total opposite family dynamics this is really concerning to my sister and mother. Some how I can feel my dad’s ok with my lifestyle. He hasn’t said it but I feel he know it’s best for me. But my sister’s opinion and living in a big city I am going against the grain.

    • @singlemomonafarm
      @singlemomonafarm  22 дня назад +1

      Yes, that's really hard. My family was concerned about me having a big family and homeschooling too. I was glad I lived states away from them so that I could do it without feeling inadequate around them. My first learned to read at age 3 and then the other ones did too. They were also creative, happy, and obedient. When my family came to visit they started seeing all those things and stopped feeling concerned. I think it was around the time my oldest was 7 when they came for a visit and I realized they weren't sharing their doubts or advice anymore. We had finished med school, had a nicer 1600 sq ft house and had a house full of happy, well behaved children. They only had good things to say about homeschooling and big families. Or at least they could see the good in it.

    Well, you had alot of kids, while in medical school. You did it the hard way. Struggling. But, you did it❤ I know medical doctors personally, they don't know how you got pregnant while still nursing another child, and risky to your health and the unborn baby. Please don't recommend that to another person. Your not a medical doctor.. good luck❤❤

    There's a part about quick labor, and while there are things that help, some women are genetically better for childbirth. I expected to have an easy labor, but it was 40 hours long and my child is autistic. I decided not to have more kids, even though at first I planned to have 3. My partner was abusive and didn't want me to stay at home with a child, and I was a single mum with 7 months old fussy baby.
    You did gymnastics, it means your body is generally strong and sporty, it's not the case with me, I was clumsy since childhood, always tripping, hitting something, poor vision, dropping things from my hands. I have quite low muscle tone and low strength.
    Some may say "you can always work on your body" but there's only some amount of time and energy to spend in a day. I fainted after a sleepless night when my baby was sick and I had to carry him around, had migraines and joint pains for years.

      Yes, you're right. My mom's 6 labors were very long even though she was in great shape. So I expected mine to be very long too. But I tried to do what I could to change that and I know God helped them be easier too. Sounds like you've had a rough go of things from being single with a 7 month old to migraines and joint pains. I'm so sorry! I don't have any other words, but wow, you've really been through a lot and I'm sorry you've had to.

    • @singlemomonafarm
      @singlemomonafarm  22 дня назад

      The kids earn money before going and family and church members have also contributed.
      For Kylie's study abroads she had applied for and gotten scholarships to pay for all of them! I'm so impressed. I wasn't that brave or smart when I was her age. Of course, I didn't have the desire either. If I had the desire I probably would have figured out a way to go.

    New babies are not expensive. I went with a mini crib for a bassinet/crib/ playpen. Our children had one drawer in iur dresser for clothing. One drawer for cloth diapers.
    My top ten:
    1. Cloth diapers
    2. Two Pacis is what we did as well.
    3. Stroller for walks, a friend gave us her side by side. Baby wrap...moby was my favorite until they preferred the stroller.
    4. Car seat
    5. High Chair...not needed until you choose to upgrade a baby from your lap.
    6. Four or five outfits (sleepers early on is best with one special one to go out) a dozen onesies in each size.
    7. A rocking chair is so nice.
    8. Board books to read to them.
    9. Emergency bottle, with frozen milk in case of an emergency. I never needed this, but horrible things do happen in life.
    10. 4 extra large baby blankets, and take the baby wrap from the hospital (swaddling has been a Godsend here).

    You seemed to have a few negative people in your life telling you what you can't and shouldn't do. My parents had 15 children in a 3 bedroom house until they built a bungalow out the back for the 3 oldest boys. We never and still don't had/have a dishwasher. We always played out the back with jist our family then all the other kids in the neighbourhood wanted to come and join our fun, which they always did. My mum never listened to anyone that told her what she shouldn't do, she always put her trust in God alone. 👍🏼❤️🙏 Good on you.

    If you are Mormon isn’t BYU a given for admittance? I don’t mean that bad, but that one isn’t a stretch.

    • @singlemomonafarm
      @singlemomonafarm  22 дня назад

      No, you don't automatically get in just for being Mormon. They have a 65% acceptance rate. You need good grades, high ACT, good essays, letters of recommendation, etc. BYU-Idaho is easier, you're right. But not BYU-Provo. I know lots of amazing teenagers who have been denied. They don't have room for all who apply.

      @singlemomonafarm  22 дня назад

      You're so sweet! I have one in the link on my channel but we really don't need much right now. Makenna needs some shirts because she's grown out of hers, so I'll have her look and add a few. We're not usually good shoppers or used to getting something when we need it. We just make do with what we have.
      OK, I did add some overalls. My teens want matching overalls because in 2022 they had some but they are worn out. I wish I could add the picture of how cute they were. Anyway, they're expensive so I understand nobody buying them.
